lol CC

My first gramophone was a wind up model which my dad bought for me in a jumble sale. The gramophone was ok but the dog that came with it was abit of a nuisance :0))

Our main TV channel is really dumbing down here. They showed a new NZ program here last Wednesday and then they repeated it last night for those that missed it.

There is very little on the TV these days that we do watch - I can't abide American sitcoms or some of these stupid reality shows. They can wife swap etc till their hearts content with out me being involved.

I like Kirsty and Phil with their house hunting in the UK and just recently we have been watching a Landscape Man program which is rather good.

Uh Oh have to go I am going to be unplugged......

Hello Persey:-))

Diane - I'm going to slap you if you keep making comments about your home. If you and your son live there in harmony and you have the things you love around you then it's a palace. As I've said my home is small but it's ours and I wouldn't live anywhere else. Consider yourself told off:-))

Goodnight Tec - sweet dreams. Regards to our Duchess.

I've started to watch cooking shows by chance. I was channel surfing and came across one show where very basic food was being prepared. Fresh ingredients well cooked which is what we like. Again by chance I watched a show from Britain called Come Dine With Me. It was hilarious and I've since found the Aussie version. We have pay tv as I enjoy the British comedies and Coronation Street and my fellas like the sport.

As usual, I'm here as everyone is leaving! Well - it takes a while to read through five pages!

My first was my parent's wind-up gramophone. It played well, but our neighbour's dog found a loose paling in the fence and often visited. He was an Australian Silkie and as soon as the record started, he would sit there and howl until it finished!

My claim to living near celebs goes back further that yours - whilst living in London, Margaret Lockwood stayed at a hotel around the corner from me whilst working and I often saw her in the mornings. Also, I turned the corner and actually hit Dirk Bogarde and we did that dance you do when you both try to side-step each other. He eventually took hold of my arms and held me still while he moved to the side. I got to work and told the girls but couln't think of his name. When I finally did, they all looked like they were going to swoon! His film "Doctor in the House" was being shown at the time and he was a hot favourite of the day.

OK who remebers the chef Aristos?

this is mainly for Aussies, as he is an Aussie Chef who featured on TV some years ago.

One of my photos is of his seafood restaurant in Bunbury. Although I have met him i don't know him, but I did know his father, George Papandroulakis, who catered at a local club in Bunbury when I was an Environmental Health Officer doing food hygiene inspections in Bunbury.

I'm OK thanks, Allan. Hope you and your OH are well also.

"Bumped" is what I meant about meeting Dirk. I only knew him from magazines, so decided to go and look at the "Doctor" on the following weekend. As I lined up to purchase my ticket, there were two men and two women in front of me and one of the ladies had a bucket-bag slung over her shoulder, which hit me as she moved. She turned to apologise to me and I saw she was Kathryn Hepburn - and one of the men was Spencer Tracey.

One of the Bee Gees - Robin to be exact - accidently knocked me into a swimming pool when I was about 10 y.o. I was camping with my family and they were staying in the small motel that was attached to the camping ground. I only vaguely remember it but my mother still likes to tell anyone who'll listen.

I love my mum dearly but she can be so embarrassing as I'm sure I've told you before. We were shopping the other day and stopped to talk to the mother of an old schoolfriend. I asked after her family and while chatting my mum piped up "Susan's a grandmother now you know". The lady then replied - "well that's no surprise -she is old enough after all". Is it something that comes to us all as we get older? I'm sure my old schoolfriend would have been mortified by her mother's comment:-))

Sue - I think we become a little 'braver' as we get older - or perhaps it comes from experience if we attend things like our type of work, meetings, presentations, etc. where we learn to say what needs to be said. However, some people just open their mouth and out it comes - hence the saying "put brain into gear before opening mouth". I can say something which needs to be said where I couldn't do that in earlier years - but I still think about it first and prepare the way I'm going to say it so that I won't offend anyone. That, too, can come from experience.
Your friend's mother has probably always been like that, but this if the first time you have been on the receiving end. I do think, however, that some people think they have a right to speak their mind once they get on in years - but that shows their lack of experience, doesn't it?
