Sue I'm not surprised lol. I also like toast (especially crust) with banana's squashed on and jam with a second slice on top, bit like a toasted sandwich.

The science teacher we had was a very soft hearted man who really allowed the class to run rings around him. He was silly enough to tell us how the stink bombs were made. I was really only an onlooker...really....but we were all sent to the head of the science department and she was a very tough lady and immediately put us all on detention. We had to clean out the storerooms in the science labs but we actually enjoyed it because we found all sorts of interesting bits and pieces:-))

Diane - sounds like you had a lovely day but you're a bit greedy buying slices of cake and then asking me for left over banana bread:-))

Notice how Sue is now trying to wriggle out of the stink bomb making, now we know she used to be a little tear-away lol.
We believe you Sue (not) :)

I remember when we moved into a new science block. We (teachers) had to empty all the cupboards and decide what to throw away. In the back of a cupboard in the Chemistry lab, we found a cyanide salt, which is it had got into the water course could have wiped out half the town. There was a real problem about having it collected, it had to be a specialist firm who came for it. It took months to get rid of it. We were mightily relieved to see it go.

Linda how fortunate you knew what you were dealing with, it doesn't bear thinking about if it had got into the wrong hand's.

I didn't want it on my hands either Diane

Linda how does something like that come to be in a school science lab and not be under lock and key.

My science Master was completely deranged. A very unpleasant little man. He kept a butterfly net behind his desk, and would suddenly rush out into the cloisters if he spotted a butterfly. Then he would forget what he had been talking about.
He was given to working himself up into tirades and rages about politics, communism, everything except science. A very strange man.

It was not in the lab Diane, it was in the chemical store cupboard only accessed by the staff,so it was locked away

What do you have planned for today Sue?

Diane

Diane Report 9 Aug 2010 23:23

Sorry Linda but in your post you just said it was in the chemistry lab in the back of a cupboard so I just thought it was a accessable cupboard.

So I did Diane, I was just shortening the post.

Time for bed now, so have a good day Sue and sleep well Diane and tec, although the cave floor must be hard

That's scary Linda. I can't remember what we found but it wasn't chemicals. Old books and stuff I think.

I wasn't exactly naughty at school but if something was going on I'd be in with everyone else. I loved school.

Hello all

Both myself and the computer very slow to start this morning.

Linda I remember driving the Council van when I worked at Macclesfield RDC. There was a tin of CYMAG in the back which the ratman used on wasp nests.

I began to feel very dizzy and noticed that the lid was not fitted properly and I was out of the van like shot and refused to get back into it.

The active ingredient of CYMAG was cyanide which was released on contact with moisture.

Speaking of moisture, today is forecast to be our last fine day for a few days: hopefully this will be the case as we realy need the rain!
