Hi and bye, Diane - I hope you feel much better in the morning.

My daughter and her partner set the date for the wedding the other day - October next year. We're all excited as you can imagine but she rang me this morning to tell me that her boss who is also her partner's friend told her she is selfish because she knows that she (the boss) takes every October off work. She said some really nasty things including that she wished she had never introduced them. She told my daughter that if she doesn't change the date then she needn't come back to work.

Sue ....I don't like the sound of your daughters BOSS at all ! What a horrid person . It sounds like a severe case of sour grapes to me . I do hope she hasn't upset your daughter to much .

Berona

Berona Report 12 Aug 2010 23:59

I'm not even early enough to say goodnight to everyone! but I'll say it anyway. Maybe we can talk after they've had their sleep - I sometimes catch Linda that way.
Sue - is your daughter's boss joking? Surely she doesn't mean that?! Wish your dtr a happy birthday from me, too.
My daughter turned 40 this year (and she's the 'baby' of my family!) - and I was no child bride!

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 13 Aug 2010 00:01

Sue that's a dreadful attitude for your daughters boss to take, what a nasty person. Easier said than done I expect, but maybe time for your daughter to seek alternative employment.

Well I'm off to bed,
Enjoy your day Sue, and Allan and Berona who may arrive later,
Sleep well Linda, Amanda, and Diane hope you feel better tomorrow,

Goodnight,
Tec.

I'm halfway up the stairs,

I just heard on the radio that to-day is Friday, 13th. I'm not superstitious, but I wish they wouldn't remind us!

SueMaid Report 13 Aug 2010 00:09

Hello Berona:-))

My daughter's boss is a very selfish woman. She makes and loses friends very quickly. She is divorced with a little boy and very jealous of anyone who is happy. She told one of her staff that she hoped the girl wouldn't fall pregnant again for awhile after the poor girl suffered a miscarriage. My daughter has 3 weeks off work and she intends looking for another job in that time. She has already had a tentative offer from a salon closer to home.

I'm with you on that one Berona.....it's like " they " are trying to jinx the day by mentioning it : ( I'm not superstitious either and have in fact found the number 13 to be something of a comfort over the years .

I'm off to my bed now so goodnight to all and a good day to the awake ones in far off lands .....lol

Tec ....you must have very long arms if you can type from half way up your stairs or do you have very short stairs ? ( keeping in mind you live in a cave I guess that I'm closer on that one .....lol )

Berona Report 13 Aug 2010 00:29

Tec's residence is only temporary until he does more researching and learns how to claim the mansion and estates of his ancestors. He has already appointed most of us as his staff. Have you applied for a position? I'm his personal advisor, so you can't have that one.

Edit - seems like everyone has gone so I'll come back later.

Hello

Thought I better pop in whilst having coffee.... Yesterday got up early frost on the ground so went back to bed - couldn't get warm - sun came out and thought had better mow the lawns. We seem to have one fine day followed by three wet ones so after a day and half of sun (tho it did rain during the evenings) I decided wet grass or not it had to be mown. Actually it looks shorn and the birds got excited about it. One blackbird was practically following me and the mower around the front of the section. Later I stripped some wall paper and I am on stripping the rest of the wallpaper duties today whilst he is out at one of the rentals.

Sue - I definitely think it is high time your daughter changed employers. How can a woman run a salon with that temperament... I thought these sort of people only carried on like that in the movies and books - she sounds a bit of a drama queen.

I had a woollen bathing suit when I was small Linda - and I absolutely hated it. Mind you I hated swimming as well. Never did quite get the hang of it and being so fair skinned - I suffered a few very bad sunburns - spending one New Year in bed on my stomach with a badly blistered back - I was about 8 or 9 so it wasn't me trying to sunbathe with my peers as a teenager.

Someone mentioned adoptions - when my youngest was about three she asked her father the age old question. "Am I adopted Dad? " His answer was "It can be arranged."

Strange things happen over wills - I know of one case where one sister was left a £1000. 00 and the other sister was left the farm (they were the same value then) Of course by the time the parents died there was a very wide gap between the value of the property and the value of money (inflation did not help either), so that left two sisters no longer on speaking terms. Did the parents think they were going to cause such a rift - of course not but it happened in lots of families.

Persey xx

Good morning from the soggy north. I was woken twice during the night by the rain, it was absolutely lashing down. It is still raining now, though it is of a drizzle variety. I need to go to the allotment to pick a load of beans but it is too wet.

CC I was very surprised to find wills for one particular branch of my family because they were all as poor as church mice. Tonight, I will continue looking to see what else I can find and then I will decide which ones to order.

I hope your daughter can find a new job Sue, her boss sounds a really nasty type and doesn't deserve to hold onto her staff.

Oh dear, I have just changed my phone package and swapped the land line rental from BT to virgin who I already have the broadband and phone calls with. They are offering free calls for six months if I do it and as BT prices are going up, it will be fractionally cheaper.
What could possibly go wrong???????

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Aug 2010 14:12

Your house is positively gleaming CC

Unfortunately there is no cable where we live,so we are stuck with the copper telephone cable. As we live a fair distance form the exchange we get nowhere near the speed we should do.

The only alternative would be through the sky dish, but every time we have bad weather, the signal breaks up, so that is no good. I used to have the sky TV package, but got rid of that when the children moved out,now I use the dish as a freeview box, but there is an enormous tree in the way of the signal. We have moved the dish up as far as we can.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Aug 2010 14:36

I used to have cable when we lived in a large town, but here there is no cable at all. There is only the BT exchange and the ordinary telephone wires. We had to pay line rental to BT for the telephone because there was no other option. Then it became possible to have your calls from a different provider,so we switched to Virgin because we have the broadband from them and it was a better deal. Now you can opt out of the BT rental all together, which is what I have done. The signal still comes through the same BT exchange and wires, we will just pay Virgin for it instead. I hadn't thought about the phone book, but i rarely use it, I look numbers up on line
