Yes Diane, I have felt rather "shot at" today, but it can't be helped, just can't cut the mustard anymore.
Speaking of tiredness, I must go to bed. Enjoy your day Allan, and Berona when she arrives. sleep well Amanda, and Diane,
Goodnight, Tec.

Diane!!!!! It's past midnight! Hope you sleep well, even if you only get six hours!
Tec - hope the duchess is back to normal again. You must sleep like a new mother - with one ear tuned to hear if anything untoward is happening.
Good night to those who are retiring/have retired. Talk later. Must go and make my bed now. Will be doing some transcribing, so will pop in between pages.

Good morning to all our Pommie friends - hope the weather is kind to you and you have a lovely Sunday.
We went off to the markets this morning as planned. We were a bit later than usual so the best of the veggies were gone but I bought some eggs. I also bought some nice plants - just what I need:-))
After having coffee out we came home and had a lazy day. It was really sunny and warm - for awhile. Then we had a downpour of rain and a strong gust of wind which sent us inside. All in all a nice day:-)
I came from an undemonstrative family. My parents didn't hug us nor tell us they love us although I remember knowing they did love us. So I know the feelings were there. I hug and am hugged often and I make a point of telling my family how much I love them - they should never be in doubt. In fact that is one thing I believe they should take for granted.

I agree with you Sue. We don't hug and only kiss when thanking each other for a birthday present, etc. My daughters-in-law kiss me - yet my daughter doesn't - seems strange, but actions speak louder than words for me. My grandchildren came up to me with much more confidence, once I told their mothers not to force them to kiss me hello or goodbye. I remember being a child myself and 'old people' were nice, but only from a distance - I didn't like the idea of having to kiss them. I know they all love me by the acts of kindness they bestow on me.

Good evening Sue, I am glad that you enjoyed your day.
I am just about to sort myself out and we are going to walk around to the town hall to an antiques fair. I am always on the look out for small gifts to use as Xmas presents. I usually amass a large pile during the year and then have fun deciding who to allot them to.
I like old things, my sister is very good at finding little antique gifts. Mum bless her could never understand why my sister couldn't buy me something new, she totally missed the point.

Oh Berona, you are here as well, that is nice.
My family were never demonstrative, which was a shame. I made sure that I was always cuddly with my own children. In fact when we went down to see my daughter, she was most put out that Eve was getting all of her cuddles, so from now on I shall be very sure to not leave her out. Normally she gets lots of hugs from me

hello all
hope you are all enjoying your weekend where ever you may be.
Well last game of football yesterday for youngest son and middle son is playing in the finals so he has a bye next week then the finals begin. So now i have my Saturdays back!!
The weather has been nice and quite sunny sitting in watching the game today, the wind was cold but nice for winter.
My family are cuddles and kiss people but I don't remember it always being that way. I make sure that I am with my children but of course it is when we are at home not out and about where there friends may see them. In fact I am terrible when it comes to seeing people upset as I tend to get teary but I am always there with a hug and hugging someone who isn't use to being hugged is strange indeed. I have a saying in my house and that is never knock back a hug!!!
Early night for me tonight with a good book not sure which one but I have plenty to choose from and if not there is always dancing with the stars to watch and cold case.
Keep smiling :)
xx

We have just had the British Series of Dancing on Ice with the stars... I watch it because I think they do very well for amateur/couldn't skate before people but my OH heavily criticises it. But that is okay because between the two of us we have three television sets.
My computer has been unplugged since Friday.. I was lying in bed and couldn't get to sleep so came down and plugged it back in but it is standing room only a chair won't fit in between the table and shelving at the moment. I had to pull the table out and have been wall paper stripping.. then burn my wrist on the steamer yesterday evening.
The party went well today and little Gabrielle loved her musical jewellery box and baubles - so much so that she did not want to be bothered opening the rest of her presents as she was having a lovely time with her finery and winding up the dancer etc. My friend and I got lost coming home - we were in these country backroads and did a bit of a 15 minute wasted drive in a sort of a loop. I said, oh well will go back the other way and she was completely lost, but I knew where to head in the general direction of the motorway. She got a bit of a shock when I came out on a motorway overbridge and ended up an on ramp.
Does Linda have a wearing wet clothes fetish?
I grew up on eating lots of beans - my dad grew all sorts of varieties and he used to cut them up diagonally - quite small - and was forever giving them to visitors. My parents and their next door neighbours had a flat piece of wood on top of back fence - they used to leave a package of veg or baking - then my dad would leave them something - this would go back and forth all the time. It was years before I ever went inside their place. When my parents bought a new house in a new district - the neighbours followed along a few months later and were just up the road and a couple of streets away.
You mentioned your neighbour and privet Diane - that is another plant they are trying to get rid of in NZ. The birds transport the seeds and it springs up everywhere and is not at all welcome.
Sue - think it was you talking about cricket players etc - Our Bert Sutcliffe was impossible to get out when he was alive - and after he died they buried his ashes at Carrisbrook in Dunedin - now Carrisbrook is being replaced by a new stadium and once again Bert has proved difficult to get out - they can't find his urn of ashes - tried metal detectors etc.
Hope all of you are well be it in house or cave - take care... will probably be unplugged again tomorrow... or is that today as it is the early hours of Monday morning here.
Cheers Persey

Now I have missed Janet and Perse.
I hope you do get your Saturdays back Janet, but having been there, I know that your children will probably find something else for you to fill them with.
I had a wasted trip this morning, because when we got to the town hall, it was deserted and there was a note on the door saying the antiques fair had been cancelled. I was thinking of the thread as I was walking along because despite having been married for forty years (gulp) OH and I still hold hands in the street.
Haven’t you finished those renovations yet Perse? It probably would have been easier to move. I am glad the party went well. I actually own a musical jewellery box with a ballerina inside it. When the children were little OH used to take them to buy a birthday gift for me, they were allowed to choose what they wanted. One year my daughter proudly presented me with this box, I assume that she fancied it herself. I still have it and it works. I think that I will follow your example and fill it with baubles for Eve, but only when she is old enough to care for it.
I don’t have a wet clothes fetish, I am just unlucky lol. If these things come in three’s I have one more to go.
I don’t watch the ice skating, but I do like to watch the celebrity dancing programme. When we were in Crete in June, there was a foreign station with their version on the TV. I am not sure what nationality it was as there was a range of TV stations from different European countries available. The standard was shocking compared to the English version, I couldn’t work out which one of the couple was supposed to be the professional, they were that bad.
OH brought back lots of apples from the allotment, they are windfalls but are almost ripe. They are eating apples, but are slightly sour, so I have made an apple pie which is cooking now, it smells lovely. There are lots more, so I will probably stew them and freeze them as I did with all the gooseberries .
Gosh I have written a lot, I had better stop, or I will be rivalling CC for the length of posts lol
