LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Aug 2010 22:52

Good evening Allan.
All my photos are too large to send,so I have to put them into Photo shop and reduce the image size so they are fit to send. I know hotmail takes bigger sizes, but then some people have difficulty down loading them. My son complains bitterly if I send large files

Hello Allan .....good to see that you've managed to get on here with your computer problems .

Linda .....fat chance of me getting a lap top but at least I only have one child left at home and as it happens she has just gained possession of her Nans old pc , all she needs now apparently is a " dongle ? " , then hopefully she can tap into our Internet connection ( it's all a bit beyond me to be honest ....lol ) .

I am glad that your daughter has another job lined up, it can be so difficult these days, being closer to home will be better as well

Tec can tell you all about dongles Amanda, his is coloured.
Actually I have a dongle in the side of this laptop but it is just black, not flashy like Tec;s

Good Morning Allan,

What you describe about your computer is completely over my head, so I'm no help. Hope you get some good pics in Nannup, you've obviously got a flair for photography, and it shows in the results.
Is Nannup far?

Sue - I am very sorry to hear about your daughters job, but seems to me she is better off out of it. What a disgraceful way to treat anyone.

Sorry you didn't win lottery Linda, but when I make my forune churning out pots of jam, I will remember my friends :))

Tec.

Allan Report 18 Aug 2010 23:01

Hello Amanda, we had a discussion about 'dongles' on here may posts ago. Apparently, Tec's is blue!!

Until that discussion I had never heard of a dongle :0))

Linda, I do have a free program IZArc which compresses files but until the other day I have had no problems with Hotmail. If you click on photos tab in hotmail the program asks if you want to compress them and they are then uploaded.

Now I get a message saying 'operation cannot be completed.

Sue I'm sorry about your daughter and I also think that there may be a case for unfair dismissal. If wages haven't been paid for a couple of weeks I would be making sure that superannuation payments for your daughter are up to date.

Tec - what do you mean remember you friends? What happened to the cruise? We must stay focussed.

Tecwyn Report 18 Aug 2010 23:02

Amanda, Unlike Linda's common old black dongle, I have one with a smart blue light on it - it talks to my mouse apparently.

Tec, Nannup is about 150 kms South of us, and is a very pleasant little town. There are several ways of getting there but if the weather is fine we may go via Balingup and the Blackwood River, a most delightful run.

I may even try to get some photos of the Blackwood Inn that we were discussing a few weeks ago

Sue - The cruise is still No 1 priority, I won't forget.

Allan - I was reading about the poor surfer who was taken by the shark. Was it very far from you?

Hello Allan ....... I actually know next to nothing about a dongle , a computer literate friend has tried to explain it to me over the phone and I think I have the gist of how it works , sort of ....lol ...... I won't tell my daughter they come in nice colours Tec , she is bound to want which ever colour is the least available one .

Goodmorning Allan glad to see you managed to get here and hope your putta behave's itself.

Welcome back Amanda, I know how you feel ( re- computer ) until I got my own lappy I had to restle with my son on the use of his. I love my lappy (it's all mine ) lol.

Sue, about 80 kms, just before Margaret River. Gracetown is home to many seals and hence a fair great white shark presence.

Apparently, a pod of seals were in the same vicinity as the surfer. He was surfing just after dawn. Dusk and dawn are the worst times for shark attacks as they cannot distinguish between their natural prey and other objects.

Objectively, this is only the second death in six years by shark attack, even though it is still a great tragedy for his young family.

Probably in the same period about twenty people have been killed in car crashes in the area.

Allan the drive to Nannup sounds very nice. It would be good if you do manage to get pics of the Blackwood Inn that was discussed.

Yes it was a nice surprise to have our visitors. Even better unexpected as it meant not having to rush about for two days prior getting ready :))

SueMaid Report 18 Aug 2010 23:20

Yes - you're right Allan. Shark attacks tend to make the news rather than car accidents. I did read that there was a pod of seals in the area. I took this to mean that it was likely there were also sharks in the area. What a dreadful way to die.

I didn't answer your comment about superannuation Allan. I also suggested my daughter check and make sure that the payments are up to date.

Hello Diane, I can see that I will have to get a lap-top so that I can be in with the in crowd.

Mind you I think that a lap top dancer would be nicer but I can't see OH agreeing to that!!! :0))

Oh that is sad Allan, i will not be swimming with sharks in the near future. I could never get into the wet suit for a start.

I am off now,so have a good day down under and sleep well up top.

have a nice day out with your granddaughter tomorrow Tec.

Allan

Allan Report 18 Aug 2010 23:22

Sue, I think that over the last ten years, there have been eight deaths in total from shark attacks in WA. Our current road toll for this year alone is about 190.

Tec isn't it rediculous the way we rush around when some-one is coming and yet look how we just manage when they turn up. all that hard work and what for, they love us mess and all lol.
