goodnight Linda sweet dream's.

Sue forgot to say I'm sorry your daughter has such a sad excuse for a boss and I agree with the other's she must look into the unfair dismissal of job ( all because she decided to get married when boss was away ) laughable isn't it.

Goodmorning Berona I'm still around tonight to greet you but not for long as time is getting on. How dare you have such temp's in winter, when we here in Liverpool are having so many wet day's :)

Sydneybloke Report 19 Aug 2010 03:19

Well, I didn't make it onto GR this morning. Spent some time talking to the boss. He wants me to log into the company's work schedule program and update it with what I have been doing. An exercise in futility. I am sure that I am doing the right things but it just does not want to save any of the changes I make.
I am only here for about a week. Believe it or not, the policeman's residence burned down. They don't think it was the mafia and denied doing it themselves. There is fibro (asbestos cement sheeting) involved so a specialist team is doing the clean up and I am doing the daily air monitoring and clearance inspection at the end.

I have been to Griffith itself only once, years ago. We used to joke about "Griffith- where the grass grows green" and I bet there is still some hidden among the rice paddies in the irrigation area. Nowadays it is more likely to be grown indoors using hydroponics, in suburbia.
Also, in the 70s the crooks tended to have names ending in a vowel, like from the south of the boot shaped country . Nowadays the big boys seem to be of middle eastern appearance. But not the much maligned Lebanese moslems- these are Lebanese "Christians" who came out a couple of generations ago. IMO the Underbelly series was disgusting. It made the gang warfare in Melbourne glamorous, and the czar of the gang scene in Sydney to be something of a star and a hero. He is just unconvicted (so far).
It is a nice sunny day out there today but the wind is definitely cold. Yesterday was rainy and winday, but Tuesday was a great day after a cold start. Frost, and if the local weekly paper is to be believed -1 C. Not bitterly cold but not nice out in the wind.
As I will still be here Saturday I will have to vote äbsentee". At least I know the main candidates but as we have to number every square I don't want to record a preference for a very silly party. Furher investigation needed: maybe the web site of my preferred candidate.
Colin

Edit- I looked up the website. Eleven candidates, of whom two have any chance at all of winning, and based on past performance one more will get enough votes to share in the money pot of election funding. You can tell that it is a marginal seat, and one that the Opposition is desperate to win back.
By the way, although I am passionate about politics I was sick of this campaign even before the election was officially called. All parties are running a Campaign for Dummies.
Still, God bless the dummies. IMO it wouldn't be democracy if you had to pass an exam to be allowed to vote.

Berona Report 19 Aug 2010 04:58

Hello again, Colin. You are braver than I am. I sent Linda a short pm explaining, but you were more detailed. I'm not really afraid that anyone would come after me.

As for Saturday - I don't have any faith in any of them. They obviously don't have much faith in themselves either. I've never before seen so many former prime ministers come out of retirement to help with the campaigns - and on both sides too. Well, whoever wins - I am not interested in their promises, or in who wins a debate.. To me, actions speak louder than words - so I will wait and see what comes out of it all.

Good Evening Everyone,

Today was fun - I took my grand daughter for a look round Portmeirion, the Italianate Village built by William Clough Ellis. She had been before, but a long time ago and too young to appreciate it. We had a good look round before the rain started, and had a very nice lunch in the restaurant. Grand daughter took lots of photo's, and was very interested in the history of the place. It was so nice to spend some quality time with her, and we had lots of laughs - all in all a very nice day.
My daughter and OH had a good day - daughter and her OH are doing a boot sale on August Bank Holiday, so the Duchess is sending her home with a stack of stuff of ours to get rid of - she is welcome to whatever she can get for it.

Tec.

I am glad that you had such a lovely day Tec. A pity it rained, you seem to be forecast for more tomorrow.
I have been to Portmeirion but it is a fairly long time ago, it was impressive though
