It was a nice day Linda, and Portmeirion is impressive, though I've been several times before with different people. My nephew actually got married, and had the reception there a few years ago. It was very wet here this afternoon, and as you say, more forecast tomorrow.

Hopefully we will miss the rain, i am taking my friend to Huddersfield to the records office tomorrow

Tecwyn Report 19 Aug 2010 21:42

No plans for tomorrow as they are going home in the morning. SIL has been existing on pasta for a couple of days, and my grand daughter is going to a pop festival at Weston Park over the weekend.
Still it has been great to have them here if only for a short time.

I don't think the bad weather is forecast to get as far as you Linda, so you may be lucky. I hope you have a worthwhile trip to Huddersfield.

Hello all, This is just a short note to let you know that I haven't forgotten you.

I've been down in Sydney for the last several weeks. My son was very ill and passed away on 9th August. I only got back yesterday and am going back to work today. It will help me keep my mind active and not sit around and mope.

There was nothing that could be done to cure him and the team at the Nepean Hospital clinic and the Palliative Care unit at Mt Druitt were absolutely amazing. The most amazing person is my daughter in law who looked after him since he was diagnosed at last Christmas.

The funeral was attended by over 350 people which is a testimony to the esteem in which he was held not only by family and friends but the yachting community of NSW and Queensland. There has been well over $4,000 raised for the Nepean and Mt Druitt units by requesting donations instead of flowers.

So, it's back to the grindstone for me now because the bills don't stop coming in because of one's personal situation!!

I will try to visit as often as I can because I miss you all.
Haven't had time to read the posts since I was last in but will do that in due course.

Take care all.

It is a shame they can't stay longer, but lovely that you have had such a nice time and it was an unexpected visit. i hope it doesn't rain for the festival, but being young, I don't suppose she will mind

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Aug 2010 21:49

I am so sorry to hear your news Pam, while being sad, you must be so proud that he was held in such high esteem

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Aug 2010 21:57

It is good to see you here again Pam - you were missed, but I'm sorry you've had such a sad time in Sydney. I hope you can ease gently back into work today.

Linda, I told grand daughter that she could always were a bin bag to the Festival if it's wet - she wasn't impressed - apparently you have to wear a waterproof poncho?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Aug 2010 22:00

Of course you wear a poncho Tec, everyone knows that. You must have seen the tourists wandering round in them, usually see through yellow or blue plastic things. I think we actually still have a couple somewhere

I hope that you can settle back in at home Pam, it will seem strange to have to go back to what was your normality, given the sad time you have had

Tecwyn Report 19 Aug 2010 22:05

I don't get to go to that many pop festivals Linda, but now I realise what she is talking about - thankyou for explaining.
I can be a little slow at times lol.

I think I first came across them many years ago, when we first went to Disney in Florida, though they probably had Mickey Mouse on them

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Aug 2010 22:23

Mickey Mouse is good.
There is a camp site near here on top of a cliff - I felt really sorry for the people in the little tents today, with torrential rain lashing in off the sea. I shall think of them tonight when I'm tucked up in bed - poor souls.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Aug 2010 22:26

I can remember camping on the cliff top once just outside St Davids. We had a terrible night, lots of tents were wrecked. Ours survived, but we beat a hasty retreat in land the following morning

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Aug 2010 22:35

I used to enjoy camping once upon a time, but not now, like my comforts too much - can't think of anything more awful than being in a little tent with everything soaked - ugh.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Aug 2010 22:39

We had a trailer tent, so in camping terms, had all the mod cons. It was an excellent holiday when the children were young, though I much prefer hotels these days.
My son has taken up camping again and my daughter is planning to take it up again once Eve gets a bit older. When I think about it, my daughter who is the youngest was only five months old when she first went camping

Goodnight Tec, I need to be up early tomorrow

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Aug 2010 23:01

Best to start them early Linda lol. A camping holiday can be great if you are lucky with the weather. There are some superb tents about now, and the equipment is so much better.
I have a relative who goes on a camping holiday to France every year, he and his OH are in their 60s now .
We did have a very nice holiday in a caravan in Cornwall a few years ago..

Goodnight Linda, sweet dream's

sorry I wasn't around earlier but my daughter was visiting and after she went I was on the phone with my dad for about an hour, he was telling me about another fall he had a few night's ago. We had the same old conversation of why he should go into sheltered houseing and as usual he gave me all the reason's why he shouldn't ( I give up ) in the end I just told him to take care and I'd speak to him soon. :(

Hi Tec if your still around, glad to hear you had a nice day with your granddaughter at Portmerion, I went there about 13yrs ago and really enjoyed it.
