Pamela - I can't express how I feel for you. It was a shock to learn about your son. I know what it's like to lose my husband and that took a long time to get used to. If you feel like talking about it here - go ahead - that's what we are here for. The more you talk about it, the earlier you can come to terms with it.

On the other hand, if you would rather talk about other things, we understand that too. My heart goes out to you.

Pam, as we have become more than passing acquaintances, please accept my condolences.
It was also nice to read positive thoughts for the Nepean Hospital and Mt Druitt facility after all the negative publicity they get. I don't have a bad word to say about any of our hospitals, not even North Shore. Misadventures happen, and it is not always negligence.
Diane, nice to see you popping up again. Thank you for the kind words.
All seems well at the moment. Panic stations a couple of weeks ago when she found a lump under her arm, but a scan showed nothing.. It is easy to panic. The radiographer said he would far rather have people like her come in for what turns out to be a false alarm rather than ignore it. She had a secondary from a melanoma in a lymph gland removed 6 or 7 years ago. The primary was much earlier.
Anyway, boys and girls, I am off to find dinner, The club has a wide menu, the pub is more restricted but is good, honest tucker with plenty of vegetables.

Hello Colin - nice to see you posting again and I'm glad your lady is fine. It's a scary time but she did the right thing going in for a check up. Most lumps are false alarms but one should never take a chance especially if there have been problems in the past.

Pam - I don't need to say anything because you know how much I feel for you. Take care and always feel you can come on here when you need friends.

I have spent the day in Huddersfield records office, I found some things I was looking for, but others still elude me. I spent a fair amount of the time helping my friend and we finally found a marriage which should unblock a line for her

I'm up early as we are off to the gardening expo. We voted early in our federal election so we don't have to worry about that. It's been an annoying campaign but it won't be over this weekend as we'll have the endless post-mortems.

I am not sure compulsion is a good idea or not. I think do I really want those who never vote here just to make a random mark on the paper because they are forced to, or even worse vote for who they are told to by the down market newspapers

Linda I hope your time in Huddersfield was worthwhile, even if you didn't find everything you wanted. Also I hope the weather was better than here. My daughter left for home in absolutely awful weather. Torrential rain, a severe weather warning and risk of flooding. I was quite worried, but she phoned to say they had arrived home safely, and it didn't take much longer than usual. I suppose that's what dads do - worry.

I didn't notice you had gone last night for ages - it's called old age, and lack of attention........ my school reports "Lacks Attention" lol.

Colin it is so good your partner had good news, very often people leave things until there is a serious problem.
Pub food is very often excellent here, as you say, limited menu, but good "honest" meals, well cooked, and good value.

I expect everyone will be out today putting their crosses against their favoured candidate in the Aussie election. I hope they end up with something better than we have in Government. Clowns R Us.

Hope you enjoy the gardening expo - is it far away?
As we are approaching Autumn our gardens are dying down now, so not much to do except keep things tidy, and cut things back.

At least our new esteemed leaders can smile tec, a great improvement on the sour faced leader we had.

As usual the forecast was wrong, it should have been fine but we had rain on the journey down. It wasn't too bad though. On the way back, it was a terrible slow crawl along the M62. It is bad at the best of times, but a combination of Friday afternoon and mile after mile of roadworks is not the be recommended

Yes our last leader was sour faced, before him we had a grinning jackass. Now I imagine our new leader popping out of a car showroom to sell me a new car........where are the true Statesmen?.

Yes voting is compulsory and there is an enforced fine if you don't vote.

Tec - the gardening expo is about 1 1/2 hours drive. Not too far but through some very busy areas.

I fully intend to find something good at the expo and if it's wildly extravagant so much the better. We're taking mum so OH said he better make plenty of room in the back of the car:-)) Mum loves to spend and even more so if it's on the garden. She will also insist on buying me something - what can I do if she insists.
