The mayonnaise tasted very nice and yes different. I put it in the back of the fridge so my son doesn't slather it on a sandwich.

I bought some really nice bromeliads - one for it's flower and the other for the amazing foliage. I also bought some oriental lily bulbs as the ones I bought last year came up beautifully. I bought lots of succulent cuttings as they had some unusual ones that I don't have at home. A fuschia because I'm determined to succeed with it. I also bought a bonsai starter kit because I'd like to give that a go.

No garish plastic flowers:-)) You should all know by now that I have impeccable taste.

Come to think of it, plastic flowers would melt in the sun,so maybe you were wise to pass them by

I see that you are copying us and going for a hung parliament

I grow oriental lillies, got quite a few in a tub beside my front door, highly scented "Stargazer" variety. The scent wafts into the hall everytime we open the front door.

Look like you have a hung parliament Sue.

Goodevening Linda ,Amanda and Tec

Goodmorning Sue

Sound's like you had a flower power time Sue and really good day, did your mum buy anything or wasn't there any room left in the car for her thing's.

Certainly does look that way - although I'm not completely sure what that means.

The bulbs I bought are oriental lillies. I had white and I think yellow ones last year so this year I bought pink as the display ones looked gorgeous.

What my mum and I really enjoyed was the floral displays and the potted plant gardens. They had some incredible hanging plants that didn't use pots. One was made of a ball covered in spagnum moss and succulents. Another had lengths of string hanging from a ball. The string had shells attached and little succulents growing in each shell. Succulents and bromeliads are very popular because they don't need too much water.

Tec - they were selling some very healthy wollemai pines at a fairly reasonable price.

Diane - what a silly question. Did my mum buy anything? Too right she did:-)) Loads of succulents, fuschias, bromeliads, ferns and bulbs. We have a big boot so we fitted everything just fine.

Hello Diane .... I hope you are well : )

Sue .....did you remember to look for ericaceous compost ? ( for Azaleas wasn't it ? )

Are Bromeliads also called air plants and look a bit like succulents ?

Good Evening Diane, Hope you are well today.

Interesting they had the Wollemai pines, my neighbour paid £60 for hers, which is about $110 Aus I think - she is growing hers in a large container foor the time being.

Amanda - some bromeliads are air plants and I have some of them but for I also have a couple for their foliage and some for the lovely flower that comes up. Here is a link that will show you some. Click on the various photos and you'll see some really nice specimens.

I've already looked for ericaceous compost and I've found it sold as Azalea and Rhodedendron compost.

I forgot to say that I also bought some small orchid offshoots that won't flower for a year or so.

They aren't the same thing Amanda, The Bromeliads sue will have bought are probably large succulents with big flowers

SueMaid Report 21 Aug 2010 22:53

You're right Linda but I've also got some Tillandsias (they are Bromeliads) which are sold as air plants usually glued to little ornaments. I have some on a log.

Tec - the wollemais were quite reasonable. The small ones were $35 and the larges ones were $60.

Sue xx

Linda if you click on the individual photo it takes you to a page showing different varieties. The Tillandsias are very unusual.

Diane tomorrow is supposed to be a nice dry sunny day, but Monday looks very wet and windy.
I haven't been to Liverpool for years, so haven't seen any regeneration development. I've only seen the Albert Dock development on tv.

Good morning/evening all

I wont be on for long as we are heading off to nannup this morning.

However, due to the threat of rain we may go straight there rather than go via Balingup.

Well it's an ill wind that blows no good. Whatever the results of yesterday's election (probably a hung parliament) at least Wilson Tuckey from WA got the boot.

The man was an embarrasment to himself and to his electorate (O'Connor) and should have gone years ago.

Hello Allan - I was starting to wonder where you were. I've only just put the news on and I didn't realise that Tuckey is out. What a result:-)) I'm amazed he lasted so long.

Hope you have a good day in Nannup. Don't forget photos.
