Amanda, I've never met anyone on here either.

Diane - I will have a look at Liverpool 1 tomorrow. I used to love to cross on the ferry - catch the train to Woodchurch etc. Once spent a whole month in Liverpool (lost most of the time) lol.

Hello all. I feel a bit better this morning.
Allan, at least we can agree on Iron Bar Tuckey. He was actually accused many years ago of using the bar on someone, but since the someone was Aboriginal you can guess the rest.
Now we only have the Bob Katter from Queensland who is one of the independents, and Bill Heffernan, who called Julia Gillard quote a deliberately barren female unquote. Something his leader implied in the first TV Debate when he began "My wife Margie and I know how hard it is to bring up a family ... " (unlike this unmarried and deliberately etc). Especially hard to bring up a family on a cabinet ministers salary of over 300,000 and even as a bankbencher on over 150,000. I have to manage on one third the latter, less salary sacrifice. Did I say I disliked Mr Abbott?
(I respected his two predecessors as leader of the opposition and I think actually Brendan Nelson, for taking on the job no-one else in his party wanted.)
Sorry to bang on about politics, which I should not do on this site, but I do feel devastated and out here in rural NSW it is hard to deal with it. I finish here this afternoon and will leave first thing tomorrow morning. Looking forward to getting back to my own bed and seeing Denise. Phone calls are no substitute.
I am glad you enjoyed your day out, Sue. Hope the weather eases, Allan, maybe you can come back via the scenic route.
Tec, Diane, Amanda and others up in the late summer part of the world... hope your days were nice ones.
Colin.

I never really worry oh who wins here in NZ - over the years the left has moved to the right and the right has moved to the left leaving us somewhere centre right or centre left depending on who is in. Bit like the Rocky Horror Show - doing the Time Warp.
We had one woman MP in the labour party awhile ago and before that she was the Mayor of one of our smaller towns and before that she was a singer/dancer and before that she was a bloke & now she is going on the unemployment benefit... but it may not meet her everyday needs.

Renovations: thanks for the offer Tec... well they have ground to a halt four walls do not surround me still. Our Iraqui tenants have moved to Australia. We had to see Property Manager on Monday and then Tuesday and Wednesday we pulled out a bathroom cupboard saw that two of the floor tiles were cracked - pulled them up damp underneath - need the builder. Went looking for tiles - can't get matching ones - whole floor will need to be retiled. Went looking for a new bathroom cupboard but I persuaded himself to replace with just a mirror from our back bathroom and we will get a new cupboard (purchased on Friday). This rental has plenty of cupboards already in the bathroom. I have been doing curtains for the place and a general clean up. Tenants reasonably clean - but didn't do all the places where I go - like behind the stove etc. All this out and about etc has been done in the pouring rain as well. (A lot of NZ 'rs do not vote when it rains)

Our place - OH only likes to put in about four hours work a day by then he is beggared - he had searched for a cupboard for the upper part (too hard to describe) of the room - I said the one purchased will be too small - he has now agreed and was going to do the rounds of the demolitions places again - but I said let's use the cupboard I have under the stairs in our room (book storage).That is fitted and he has now found a use for other cupboard. Some of the walls did not strip well so they will be re gibbed - he went out and got some gib board yesterday afternoon - calamity - the large piece he was getting broke when the chap got it down with the forklift by the time it was realised, the heavy fork lift man had gone home. OH will have to go back for one that size another day (he is going to cut it at Bunnings rather than risk it getting damaged on the trailer) He did come home with three smaller pieces that were okay. Still darned awkward for us to lug inside.

But I did have a nice lunch on Thursday - my youngest Annagretta was up from Wellington so we met her, had a lovely meal and enjoyed our time away from demolition/reconstruction work.

The garden is another story here Sue - I think I am into cultivating weeds at the moment. Maybe the answer is loads of pebbles etc and very little plants... I like being in the garden but I think I will leave it till we move now and then start afresh.

Tomorrow I am working - I don't usually look forward to doing accounts but I am quite relishing the idea.

Love to all

~~~~ to Janet & Carole.
Edit: I got my jeans wet on Friday Linda - the wet umbrella made a right wet patch down my left leg when I got back in our vehicle. I was wanting to put my bag between umbrella and leg but himself took off before I got sorted.
I shouldn't laugh Perse, but your tales of woe did bring a smile to my face. One day you will look back on this and laugh as well, that will probably be in about twenty years though given the pace your OH is going at.
I hope you are back home soon Colin and can sleep better, there is nothing better than your own bed.
I see our Sue is going potty... I think I had better say no more on that topic.
I hope Diane is enjoying her day as well, it seems to be sunny here so far.
I have been to about five meets, a very large one, two medium sized ones and a couple of small ones with about five people. In fact I hope to meet up with a few people in a week or so, but the arrangements are still vague at the moment. It is very nice to be able to put the names to faces, everyone has always been very nice.
I have met two of my contacts and one of the posters who is not in anyway connected to my tree. I do very well on a one to one basis with a coffee and a muffin/scone.
I could do with you here Linda - I am forever dusting and vacuuming - we have dark furniture in the lounge and the piano really shows the dust when the sun shines through the leadlights... I should dust it every day but have been doing it every second day when the building site is in operation. The dust seems to wend its way all over the place. We have fridges/freezers that defrost themselves and self cleaning ovens etc so why on earth can't our furniture be dust preventive....
I have been watching this koala named Archimedes who had his jaw wired up after a confrontation with a vehicle - he kept breaking his wires etc and they kept having to operate again. Plus an Olive Python that had invaded a hen house and was lying around with a whole chicken inside him/her and animal rescue had to go and get him. Plus a Kite (bird) that had got caught in a trap and had string and cotton cutting off his cirulation in his wing. These animal vets are so clever - I am amazed at what they do - watched them here making blue jandals/flip flops/thongs for an albatross that had hurt its foot.
Before I go to bed - thought I would tell you about my young friend - mother of the three year old (party I went to the other day) and her little boy's birthday party in March.... He turned five (I could not go because I was all hobbildy hoy) They had a clown at his party who was apparently really good - my friend had asked her father-in-law to take photos so when he left the party he said to her I will e-mail them to you. They received photos of the cake (mother-in-law made that) photos of the sister-in-laws son enjoying himself, photos of the brother-in-law's daughter enjoying herself. There was not one photo of his five year old grandson (or his younger sister). Luckily another friend who went did take photos of every thing that went on so we did get to see photos of him enjoying himself and partaking with the clown etc.
I was flabbergasted...
what have you done with your lovely day, did you go anywhere or did you just have another lazy one. We had a slow stroll through Liverpool 1 and the rest of town and had something to eat in Mark's and Spencer's.
Hello Diane,
OH wanted to buy a new lightweight waterproof top to go walking in. He noticed that one of the large outdoor world type places on a nearby retail park was having a sale, so he wanted to go there this afternoon. That was fine by me because all the big electrical retailers are there and I wanted to look at freezers.
While he went in to look for a jacket, I went to look at the freezers next door. I said that I would come into his shop and expected him to have bought something. When I found him he was just wandering round looking totally bemused by the choice. He just couldn't cope and wanted to leave. i told him to stand still while I had a quick zoom round. I then took him to see three jackets, he just looked so relieved at having less choice. he did buy one of them, but poor man, he can't really "do" shopping lol
It is very quiet on here tonight. Allan is away and Sue and Berona must be having a lie in. I hope that Tec and the Duchess are OK and Amanda who is probably resting after her all the talking yesterday.
I am going to have an early night, so goodnight Diane
Good Evening Linda, and Diane,
What a lovely day it's been - I had plenty of jobs to do indoors, but resented wasting such a nice day shut up in the house. So I pottered around the garden, dead heading roses, re-potted the bourganvillia, and then relaxed in my grotto.
Diane I looked at Liverpool 1 on the internet - wow, I had no idea such a lot of development had taken place, it looks very exciting. I can understand you being tired after a trip there.
Linda, I also get "confused" in big stores, so sympathise with your OH. I like to go into a store, find what I'm looking for immediately, pay for it, and beat a retreat - but I understand that ladies like to browse, and have spent many hours waiting outside a store with the dog - then the Duchess would eventually appear and announce "There's nothing in there"
Perse........I think you are very brave - I can't cope with one house, never mind several.
Awww. I've missed Linda:-( Never mind - we'll catch up later.
Good morning Tec and Diane. Sounds like you both had lovely days.
Diane - we were in Liverpool in 2008 and saw big changes from when we were there in 2004. I take it there are even more changes now. I guess we'll see the changes next time we visit.
Persey - I find it amazing that your friend's children weren't in any photos. Funny grandfather. My OH goes crazy with the camera at parties etc.
It's my daughter's eldest's birthday today. He's a whole 6 years old. His younger brother is more excited than he is:-)) He keeps annoying him by asking him what cake he wants and when Drew says he wants a pirate cake Joel is very annoyed with him. He wants him to have a Toy Story cake.
Hello all,
Better late than never: at least, I hope that is the case.
Very tiring day yesterday and the weather ran the whole gamut of emotions; rain, shine, hot and chilly.
Also OH had to be at one place for rehearsals and another, at the opposite end of the village for the actual performance. Lunch was a meat pie followed by an excellent vintaged H2O.
We went straight to Nannup and straight back home. Got back about 5.00pm and fortunately, on Saturday, I had cooked a beef Vindaloo which we had for tea last night (dinner for all the posh folk!)
A busy week this week as we have to go to Perth on Wednesday for the funeral of my step sister, This seems an awfully long time following her death.
Then next weekend we can go to Balingup as the are holding their annual "medieval fayre" following a visit to the Bunbury home show on Friday for which I have been given two tickets.
I will send the Nannup pics out during the next couple of days
Allan
