Good evening Tec and Linda

Well I can now tell you that my granddaughter got the result's she needed for sixth form but they haven't excepted her as they think she would be better to go for other option's that is more suttable for what she want's to do. She is going to Liverpool Community College instead.

Sorry I'm so late but I have been watching a programme on BBC 1 called (Great British Waste Menu ) it is scandalous the waste that goes on every day, thousand's of egg's thrown away because they are to small ( why don't cake factory's use them) strawberry's to small, wrong shape ( great for jam factory or market ) veg upon veg that is to big to small or wrong shape, we are as a country such waster's of good food and we should be ashamed about it. I for one often go to Asda in the evening to buy bread and other item's that have been reduced and have never had a problem with them. The result of this programme was to sign a agreement to say they would link up with charity's to give this food to them to use for people like the homeless or other food outlet's that could use this food.

Hello:-))

I thought being *fenestrated* meant being thrown through a window - but I could be wrong.

I had a lovely morning tea yesterday (my time) but I only nibbled. I would really like to lose some weight before my daughter's wedding so I can wear something soft and floaty and not look like the Sydney Opera House:-))

An update on my daughter's work situation. Her silly boss sent her an email telling her that she is an excellent worker, reliable and popular with her clients but she was disrespectful of her employer's wishes therefore she felt she had no choice but to let her go. My daughter sent an email back asking her if she was in fact sacking her and to give a reason. So she did. She told her that it was company policy to not have two people on leave at the same time. My daughter didn’t actually ask for leave – she merely told her the wedding date. She then went on to say that if she changed the date she could have her job back. As she is expecting to be invited it would still mean two members of staff being on leave so she is contradicting herself. My daughter replied asking for the reference she promised and stating that she would return the keys to the salon when the reference was ready to be picked up. The stupid woman has tied herself up in knots but my daughter really doesn’t want to go through all the legal rigmarole of courts etc.

Hello Amanda,

I've just been escorting the dog around the garden, with a torch, as he is too scared to go out there in the dark on his own - what a wimp.
It's cold and windy out there too.

Tec.

Its been a bit horrid here tonight weather wise with quite a bit of rain .

Hello Diane .....pleased to hear your Granddaughter got the results she was hoping for .
I missed the food programme but it sounds as if some good has come from it . I eat lots of odd shaped veg . Having an allotment you take it as it comes .

Hello Diane and Amanda, i am glad that your granddaughter has a place for next year.

I got very excited a few minutes ago, I got the first two numbers on the lottery, but sadly didn't get any more

Hello Diane and Amanda:-))

Diane - it's great that your granddaughter has done so well. You must've been a young mum and grandma to have a granddaughter sitting for exams.

I asked in my local supermarket if they had any over ripe bananas I could buy for banana bread or muffins and the young girl said they do but I can't buy them as they're not allowed to sell them. Yet I went over the green grocers and they gave me some. I can well imagine the waste that goes on. Why not donate the unwanted food to homeless refuges?

Good morming Sue, Glad you enjoyed your morning tea and you only nibbled, your daughter's boss really has tired herself up in knot's ( silly woman ) your daughter is better off out of it, has she got the other job she was hopeing to get, if so good luck to her in the new job.

Linda I hope you have sorted your thing's into the new freezer now and that you are pleased with your new buy.

Tec if I was your dog I too wouldn't want to go out in the dark and windy night. You never know who could be lurking out there ( especially by the bins ) like a strange person talking to them lol.

Diane - yes my daughter has got the other job and some of her clients are going to go with her.

Linda - we swapped our old chest freezer for an upright freezer. We downsized as we didn't need such a big freezer. The new one has drawers and it's very easy to get to what I want and I know exactly what's in there. My fridge also has a fairly large freezer. We have a small fridge in the garage which we use at Christmas and bbq's. It's very handy as a beer fridge and for the ham and trifle:-))

Morning Sue

I'd missed the post about your daughter and her silly ex boss but I've read it now . I can understand why your daughter doesn't want all the fuss and bother of going though the legal system ( un-fair dismissal etc ) . I hope she has found a much better place of work now and she can leave the awful woman in the past .

Good Evening Diane,
Good Morning Sue,

Glad your Grand daughter got the results she wanted - good luck to her at the college, hope she is happy there.

I agree with you Diane about the shocking waste of good food - there are families in this country who can't afford to eat properly, surely they can find a way of selling this food somewhere at a greatly reduced cost, or even give it away rather than dump it.
In places like Mumbai, and Calcutta, the nuns go to the docks with donkey drawn carts to empty the swill bins on the quayside that the passenger liners dispose of waste food. Everything is mixed up together, but the nuns shovel it out and take it too the poor to eat. When the ships are at sea tons of edible good food go over the side every day.

Sue, Glad you enjoyed your Morning Tea - No disrespects to yiour daughters employer - but is the lady quite all there? and she expects an invitation to the wedding? - what planet isshe on?

Over the last few days I have been looking up bmd records. The records I've found has confirmed parents, marriages and children of a lot of ancestors so I'm very pleased. Here's the site - it's a pilot for FamilySearch.

I think that I will be on a soup diet until I use all of it up, then we can get rid of the other freezer. Luckily there is plenty of room for both of them

I am glad that your daughter has her new job Sue, hopefully she will be happierthere.

Thank you all for your congratulation's for granddaughter.

Hi Sue, yes I was a young mum and Nan, ( 171/2 ) when I had my eldest and nearly ( 37 ) when i became a Nan. I now have 9 grandchildren and 3 step grand children.

Amanda it is disgraceful that the supermarket's won't except odd shaped, undersized or over sized fruit and veg, and what happen's to all the dented can's of food, what a waste of perfectly good food, I for one would be very happy to buy these thing's at a reduced price.

My daughter's ex-employer is a very silly, self-centred and vain woman. She has said that she hopes that all this trouble will not affect their friendship and that she hopes that my daughter will realise that it's a "professional" decision. Can you believe it?

Sue .....it sounds to me as if your daughters ex employer is backpedaling faster than a clown on a uni-cycle !! No doubt she is losing customers who have heard of the goings on .
Thank you for the link to that site ....it's new to me ...lol....is I appear to disappear for awhile then that's where I have become immersed ...lol

Diane Report 25 Aug 2010 23:18

Sue, if I was your daughter my first move would be to remove ex boss off wedding list ( friendship ) I would think not. I hope she enjoy's her new job and that all her old client's from the other Saloon move to were she is now, ( serve her ex boss right ) :))

Linda at least you will be eating very healtherly eating all that soup.
