Hello everyone from a very cold and very windy part of Aus. It's horrible:-(

Tec - I hope your Duchess is ok. She'll be exhausted just running from doctor to doctor.

Linda - soup sounds good to me.

The only place we saw Americans in the UK was in London.

Hello Tec and Linda ,

Hope you enjoyed the shops Tec ...lol

I've hardly poked my nose out of the door all day as it's been foul here , rain and high winds have been more or less constant , it feels like the start of Winter : ((

I've been getting bogged down in my Clissett branch of the tree , a wonderful name to trace ( my Nans maiden name ) but they are all related and I've been trying to get them into family groups for years now , the new Family search has just make them all pop up and overwhelm me AGAIN !....lol

Will you be supping on soup Linda ?.....we are mostly eating jam at the moment ....lol

I had leek and potato soup for lunch Amanda, very nice it was as well.Nothing wrong with jam!
I have managed to rearrange all the things in the freezer,so everything is in the new one. I will sell the old one but will wait until after we come back from holiday as we go in just over a week

Good evening Tec, Linda and Amanda

Good morning Sue

I won't be here very long as I have had a busy day and feel shattered.

Tec I hope your OH is ok and her visit to the Dr's was fine.

Linda defrosting freezer isn't a pleasant job especially a chest one. At least your new one will be a lot easier to do when it need's it. If your weather is anything like mine at the moment haveing soup sound's like a good thing to have.

Hi sue your weather is similar to our's and we are in the hight of summer BBRRRR.

Amanda I have sent you that pm I promised you but a word of advice, read it when you have some time on your hand's it is quite a long one ( I did warn you ) lol.

I don't believe I've given you leave of absence, Linda. Did you hope to sneak off without letting me know?

I could happily eat jam, Amanda. Especially plum, blackberry or raspberry:-))

Good Morning Sue,
Good Evening Linda, and Amanda.

It's rather cool here this evening, was tempted to put the heating on, but we put jumpers on instead.
The weatherman said it would be nice for the Bank Holiday.

So Linda is living on soup, and Amanda on jam.
Come over here and I'll cook you a decent dinner - no soup - no jam.
Actually I like soup, and jam.....

Sue...I hope your weather gets better soon, Spring is on the way to you.

Amanda2003 Report 26 Aug 2010 22:21

Evening Diane ....I've already read the pm and replied , it was long but I think it needed to be .

Tec ....I hope the Dutchess is ok after her Drs visits .

Sue ....OH makes wonderful jam . He is trying to get it all done to free up space in the freezer for the sweet corn and carrots that will be harvested soon ( if we get any sunshine that is ) . Today he made " mixed fruit " strawberries , raspberries ,blueberries and a few gooseberries in one lovely mix ....ummm.

We haven't branched out into soups Linda but your sound lovely .

SueMaid Report 26 Aug 2010 22:25

Sounds lovely, Amanda.

I love homemade soup. It's not hard to make and it tastes so good when it's fresh. I don't often freeze it as it goes as quick as I make it.

Hi Diane - hope you're not working too hard.

Can someone tell me where Castleford in West Yorkshire is? Is it near Boston Spa?

We are going to Croatia Amanda, we went last year, but this is to a different part

Oh before I forget, tomorrow is the day when I am changing my telephone line rental. They promise me it will all go smoothly, but if I disappear, you will know why

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 26 Aug 2010 22:28

Amanda that mixed fruit jam sounds wonderful - I am very fond of gooseberry jam.
I think the big tins of pineapple jam that used to come from Australia were mentioned on here a while back - that was nice, but don't see them now.

Amanda I will answer your pm tomorrow hun, you do type a lot quicker than me mine took me about half an hr to type.

As I was typing my pm to Amanda I got a call from my Dad, I don't believe it but he finally seem's to have seen sence, he is haveing a visit next week from a Social worker ( sent by his Dr on the advice of his neighbour ) and hopefully she will assess him and advise him to accept some help, everything I have tried to do for god know's how long :( I have told him to tell her to contact me so that we can have a talk about what is the best thing for my dad, he say's he will and if he doesn't tell her this I will ring her myself as he has given me her number.

That's very good news about your Dad Diane, it's the first step that is the hardest to a proud man - the fact that he has agreed to see her at all is a good sign. I hope for your sake, and his, he will take the social workers advice.

I hope your dad doesn't cancel this time Diane.
it might be a good idea to talk to her before she goes to see him in case he tells her that everything is fine
