Bye Persey - I'm thinking that having rental properties must be quite stressful at times.

Knock, knock - nobody home? Oh well, at least I've brought the thread forward from being well down on page 2.
Well, tomorrow is the last day of our winter. Once again it has been another reasonably dry one here and maximum temperatures have not got below 16. That's strange, compared with previous years and could mean that we are in for another very hot summer.

Hello Berona and everyone:-)

Our winter has been one of the wettest in 11 years, its still raining here!! (In Victoria).

OH has managed to plant most of the bulbs, he's actually run out of places to plant them, so I'm going to buy some big pots and we will fill them with the remainder, there are only 60 bulbs left to plant!!

Our little girl is turning 17 this Saturday, I cant believe it:-) Ive booked a table at a local restaurant to help celebrate the lovely occasion. Musn't forget the birthday cake and candles!!!!

Yippee for the last day of winter!!!

Love to you all...

How lovely to see you Carole and Berona as well.

Last day of winter - no need to rub it in. It is really cold here today well 15 degrees, not bad for summer. I am determined to keep my legs out for one last week until we go away. Once we get back, it will be jeans and fleece tops no doubt

Tecwyn Report 30 Aug 2010 17:45

It is a glorious day here, warm, sunny, and no wind. Quite a lot of yachts and small boats out in the bay. I think there must be a race or regatta on.

So good to see you here Carole. Your OH must have been very busy getting all those bulbs planted, the results should be well worth it. I hope you all have a great weekend in celebration of your daughter's 17th birthday. A very exciting time in her life, with everything in front of her to look forward to. Wish her Penblwydd Hapus from Wales, and of course, a cwtch.

I believe it is very warm in the Adriatic at the moment Linda, so your legs will enjoy being out - but local custom requires skirts three inches below the knee :))

Last day of winter Berona! - we have it to look forward to, but hopefully not as cruel or cold as last year. Hope you have a lovely summer - not too hot, just sensible temps.

Tec.

It hasn't been that warm today but being bank holiday there have been loads of tourists and I have been entertaining them this afternoon. You meet lots of nice people, but the annoying thing about them is that as fast as you fill the leaflet stands up, they keep taking them.

I have just watched WDYTYA with Jason Donovan. It was very interesting because on of his ancestors was convicted in 1841 and sent out to Tasmania, arriving in 1842. Although it was a different ship, these were the exact years OH's ancestor was transported to the same place

Hello Sue, lots of WDYTYA tonight was about the history of Sydney, it was extremely interesting

Good Evening Linda, and Diane,

I also found Jason Donovan's ancestry very interesting, and will be paricularly so to our Aussie friends. His ancestor Cox who built the first road from Sydney over the Blue Mountains was quite a man.
It is interesting Linda that your OH s ancestor had the same connection with Tasmania at the same time.

Diane, I should imagine that the National Wild Flower Collection is very interesting - I would like to see that too.

Good evening Tec. I don't think OH's convict ancestor was quite as good as Jason's.I have his convict records, they are very detailed and end in 1849 when he was hired out to someone in New Norfolk. There is no trace of him after that

Hello people.

I'm going to watch WDYTYA at a later time as OH recorded it for me .
You must have found it very interesting Linda with the similarities to you Ohs tree .

Happy birthday to your daughter Carole : ))

I like the sound of your visit today Diane , it sounds delightful .

We have had pleasent weather here but it's still a bit nippy , we took the dogs for a nice countryside walk today . Poor Milo was not impressed when a gas gun went off in the field nearby....he didn'y know if he should run like the clappers or stick to our legs....lol

We also visited the allotment and something has been at the sweetcorn as it had got blown over by the wind ....I've harvested quite a lot of the cobs and will just hope I can salvage the rest in a day or so .

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 30 Aug 2010 22:40

Maybe he was given his freedom Linda, and went on to great things.
I was thinking about that road they built. It would take civil engineers with modern technology longer to build such a road now.

Hello Amanda, we went to the allotment yesterday and I was pleased at how little damage there was

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 30 Aug 2010 22:42

Linda - Sydney's history is very interesting. Of course I wasn't there when the city started from humble beginnings. I arrived a few years later:-))

Everything takes so much longer to build because of all the planning, regard to environmental impact and of course money.

Hello LInda
Considering how high the winds where yesterday , I think we got away with it reasonably well : ))
