I don't think we have ever had a slightest hint of a quake in Auckland - I have thought I felt the earth moving a few times but it has been just me being wobbly. With us it would be my OH's DIY.

My SIL will be able to tell me all the whys and wherefores on this one in Christchurch - that is his field of expertise.

Hi Perse, glad you are safe and hope your daughter has not been affected by the quake.

Linda I like the idea of this bus trip and would like to book a seat on it.

Hi Sue how are you today and are you doing anything interesting for weekend.

Hi Amanda it is nice to see the bulb's come up in spring in places were you forgot your planted, I think forgetting were they are is nicer as it is a nice surprise when they appear.

Evening Diane ....I hope your well today : )

Persey , I don't like the sound of living anywhere near volcanoes of any description . I had a deep fear of volcanoes as a child , I guess I must have seen a documentary about them or something and it assumed massive proportions in my young mind .

My garden is looking a little drab at the moment , I don't really go in for annual bedding plants and most of the perennials are finished , I'm awaiting the sedams to flower and some shrubs to do the Autumn colour up .

Well the half hour news programme has finished and there wasn't a single mention of the earthquake

Amanda2003 Report 3 Sep 2010 22:27

Diane ....the only disadvantage of forgetting where I've planted bulbs is that I often lunge at the very spots with my hand fork and damage some , the worst one to do that to the The Crown Imperial Fritillary ( it really stinks ......lol )

Thank's Linda for telling this forgetfull person, how long are you away as Sue said you will be missed.

Tec you will have to get out the good china for us ( nothing but the best for your good friend's ) Oh it would be so nice if we could all get together one day and speak face to face.

What are sedams Amanda? I googled but found a place in India called Sedam.
When I walk up the drive the freesias smell lovely that is more or less the extent of my garden in amongst the weeds oh and there are fox gloves. The climbing rose is not in flower. We have a bouganvillia (Scarlet Ohara) on the back deck and it can be quite prolific flowerwise. When its flowers drop they blow inside when the French doors are open.

Hello Diane - Wellington is fine where Annagretta and Hannu live. He chose to live there because of it being on the fault line. He goes around digging up fault lines and doing research etc. He is a 'mine' of information.

Linda the earthquake may get a mention on BBC News 24 - I will watch that in a bit.

I have a magnolia in bloom - it flowers in Spring as usual, then again in mid August, but not so prolific.

Tec.

I have tried growing bouganvillia here Perse, but even though grew them in pots and put them in the cold frame for the winter, they still died

My garden is just starting to wake up. I have freesias in a pot and there are little flower stalks coming up so I'll move it soon to take advantage of the scent.

Diane - I was only joking when I said we'd miss Linda:-))

Diane, Of course only the very best china will come out, and the silver tea spoons too lol.

Perse - try looking for Sedum - I've got some in my garden just going into colour now.

Who's driving this tour bus?

Hello Annie - welcome to our thread. Picnic Point near Sydney is a nice place and is a really popular place to visit. Penshurst is a suburb of Sydney.

Perse, I'm gald your daughter is safe, can't understand why anyone would want to live on a fault line, bit like the people who do storm chaseing and drive toward's tornado's and follow's them ( scary )
