Our Wyvern was a tan colour - OH filled the holes along the side with bondafill and he bolted one of the uprights (between the doors) to the roof. Later he painted it bright red with a grey top and knocked the holes out again and my MIL said it looked like someone had shot it with a machine gun.
Think I better go - it's time for the Brits to get into that big bed should be a quiet night with Linda away. If any of you are interested google Bill Richardson Truck Museum - the site has a fantastic lot of pictures all labelled well and you can enlarge each one and see the detail. Be almost like being there.
Hope you get a replacement orchid Sue and are able to repair your pot.
Bye and a wave to all

I once ripped the wing off a Ford Cortina in an augument with a stone wall. Bought a new wing, and bolted it on with 42 nuts and bolts after drilling all the holes. Happy days.
Well I must be away to my bed. Enjoy your day Sue, Persey, and all Down Under, Sleep well Amanda, and Diane,
Goodnight, Tec.

That had got TOO big now. I liked looking at the tractors and farm machinery. Sue, I'm afriad that I don't have green fingers although I like looking at flowers. A friend of mine went to the chelsea Flower Show and the photos were stunning. Perse, I'll have a look at the truck website in a minute. Hi Pat
We had a bit of an afternoon with the family today - for father's day. I had to laugh at my SIL - his children had given him a BBQ cook book - he started looking through it at lunch time and then said oh this has got lots of BBQ recipes. Duh!!! The eldest daughter leant over and shut the book and pointed to the cover.
And folks re that earthquake of ours - apparently that is not the big one - they are expecting one a lot bigger in Canterbury - could be years away but it is coming... makes you worry doesn't it. There wasn't even a fault line where this one radiated from - the epicentre being in a little place called Darfield.
They are also examining the aircrash - the plane had hardly got off the ground it hit the perimeter of the airfield. One of those that died was a young bloke (18) from Coburg Victoria Aust. A place I know quite well. To think he had been saving up for this trip - it is so sad.

Hi Perse and Pat:-)
Lovely to see you again Pat, I hope you are well:-)
Perse I know Coburg quite well, too:-) I think I posted something about Pentridge prison a while ago, you would know of it I'm sure:-) The most beautiful blue stone walls... It was very sad reading about that young man loosing his life in the plane accident - so very sad.
OH had a lovely fathers day, today - spoiled rotten!
Miss 17 year old had a great day for her birthday, also spoiled thoroughly - the choccy cake was enjoyed as well!! Yes Sue, 17 - great age, I agree:-)
Tec, she has gone off the horses and is quitting the equine studies! would you believe, for psychology - we'll see:-) Final year of High School next year:-)
We've had loads of rain here in Vic, lots of flooding everywhere. A big contrast from the fires, it reminds me of that poem - I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.....

Hi Carole, " ... of rugged mountain ranges, Of drought, and flooding rains ..." Dorothea Mackellar. Sadly, she took criticism badly, and never published another poem. Glad you have managed Carole. It seems Melbourne missed the worst of the rain. Here, today was sunny, reached 21 C max but the winds - as so often in August-September - were ferocious. The aboriginal people who once lived in the Sydney area had six seasons, not four, and these were characterised by plants and animals. The one at this time of year can be translated the wattle blooms, then come the winds. Not for them the arbitrary Ha ha, it's September first- it must be Spring. I am only up so late as I should check my blood sugar 2 hours after a meal. And we ate a bit late. My early mention of lamb chops- they were lamb leg chops, I like the fore-quarter ones as well. When I was a child we ate lamb a lot. Steak was expensive and pork chops unusual. Now, lamb is quite expensive and pork relatively cheap. But then, most pork is factory farmed. Sheep and cattle still graze on grass. Good night, and good afternoon or evening to our friends up top. Colin.

Hi Carole, It's a while since I was 17 although I would say that I preferred being 21! I'm going to a BBQ in September. It's sort of the Works do. Hopefully it won't be too wet or too cold. Re the aircrash in NZ i saw that there was a young man from GB amongst the fatalities. Re Meat. i can remember when I wasa child chicken was a luxury and I only had that twice a year. How times have changed! Pat x

Good Morning/Evening from the Cave,
Hi Jillian - Welcome to the thread - yes, we are a funny lot.
Pat it has been a wet and windy day here, a day for staying indoors, but it isn't cold.
Carole glad the birthday celebrations went well. I think it's quite common for 16/17 yr olds to change course in what they want to do.My grand daughter is aiming to become a marine biologist at the moment, and is taking subjects to that end, but of course her ambitions may change eventually. It is good to see that she has ambitions though.
Perse - It is worrying to know that there may be a bigger earthquake at Canterbury - but people can't live their lives worrying about what might happen, I suppose they just have to carry on with lives. I have a friend living in Washington State, right about the fault that runs the length of the West coast of America. Despite all the talk of the next "big one" he says he never thinks about it. I think I might think about it. The laugh you had with SILs BBQ book was funny.
Colin - My OH always checks her blood sugar levels before a meal, and then again in between. Sometimes it's too low to take her insulin.
Tec.

Hello everyone and a warm welcome to Jillian - hope you join in again. Yes, we're a funny lot - take that as you like:-)))
OH also had a good day yesterday. He had the joy of getting a card that the children were able to draw and write in. They are growing up fast.
Very sad news about the air crash - it's always somehow more tragic when young people die.
As Colin mentioned - the winds yesterday (Sunday) were horrible. We lost power several times and the clean up today won't be fun. Even driving was a hazard with tree branches and rubbish over the roads. Luckily the damage to our home and garden was minimal. Yes, Perse - OH said he will be able to repair the pot and no, Amanda I didn't look for a replacement orchid....yet:-))

Hello Jillian
Don't know how far you have read back on this thread. We have a few Brits on here with the Aussies and this kiwi.
Lamb is not cheap here Colin. When I was a youngster we had a roast nearly every Saturday and then spent several days finishing it. Chicken (which I didn't eat until I was 17) was only cooked for parties as it was far too expensive. We often had bacon for brekkie and then as I got older Bacon got to be the expensive one. Chicken now is cheaper than lamb, bacon is back and beef is not too bad for casserole meat... that is when I use my slow cooker Tec. We have a halal butcher where I get very good beef (he cuts all the fat off so am not paying for that) and finally I have found someone that has mince that does not leave a fatty taste. Good thing to as I broke my mincer. Corned Beef is often a bargain price and a piece does us for about three meals plus sarnies.
What I don't understand is the cost of fish here - we are surrounded by sea.... we have it twice a week but at a price.
Carole - we stayed in Coburg, we had to go down one street along from Pentridge but smarty pants OH wasn't paying attention and he very nearly had us in the prison. My cousin lives in Bayswater and I have a friend from high school days who works in Dandenong as a lawyer - she lives down in Frankston.

Morning/evening Tec.
Stormy weather isn't nice to be in Sue .. the winds in Wellington have you mastering silly walks - quite Monty Pythonesque during the gails they have. Umbrellas are useless.

It sounds as if a lot of you have been being bothered with bad weather , lets hope its your winters last fling and that you soon get some Spring balm .
It's been quite pleasent here today ( well no rain anyway ....lol ) . I've had an idle day of not doing anything in particular , which has made a pleasent change .

Ahh....the Dandenongs, Persey. I love the area. OH's cousin and family live very close to the Dandenongs - not far from Fern Tree Gully. I also love the Mornington Peninsula. You may remember we went to a wedding there earlier in the year.
We aren't great lovers of lamb. We generally eat chicken, fish and beef. We always had lamb for a Sunday roast with shepherd's pie on Monday.
