Hi Tec, I'm fine thank you, I have never liked the thought of jellied eel's either, I love cockles and crab stick's though and used to love it when some-one came into the pub selling them, they don't seem to do that nowday's.

Sweet dreams to you Pat .

Diane .... that sounds like poor service from BHS .

Was the city very busy today ? I guess that everyday is much the same in a City centre these days . I don't often venture into Norwich ( maybe twice a year ) and as Cities go , it's a small one .

For a Sunday I suppose it was busy Amanda, we didn't venture there last weekend as it was the annual Beatle's Festival and you cannot get into the centre of the city with a car as they close off the road's into the centre. They said that there were about 320,000 visitor's for the festival over the 2 day's it was on.

Berona Report 6 Sep 2010 01:27

I'm here Tec, but I suppose you are not, by now. It was after your midnight when I arrived and I've been reading all the posts since then.
Good to know all seem to be well, as I am. Yesterday was cold and windy, but to-day promises to bring less wind, so I hope the forecast is right.
Speaking of lamb, reminded me of how my mother could make a leg of hogget go so far. We don't even see it in the shops now - they refer to 'large legs of lamb' which means the same thing.
Mum would serve up roast hogget & vegetables/gravy for Saturday lunch; cold cuts and sadad for tea. On Sunday, she served up re-heated lamb with boiled veggies - and again, that evening, it was cold cuts and salad. Then, on Monday, she minced what was left and we had Shephers's pie. That would feed three of us and another helping placed in a pie dish for Dad to take to work on Monday and Tuesday. Strangely, we never noticed the repetition of lamb because she did so many varieties.
Welcome Jillian. Hope you can join us - anytime of day. If no-one is here, just leave your message, or answer questions, and it won't be long before someone replies.

Hello Berona

"Those were the days my friend - when the leg of hogget would never end"

I think I am still sane - could have asked for a sanity clause but think one has to believe in Father Christmas to get that included in my medical records-

Do have to go to physio - I am sick of wobbling off kerbs and not being able to do about turns quickly etc without looking like I have had a few too many Drambuies or Brandys.

Now am off out again to check on what the builder has been doing with the bathroom floor at a rental property.

The corned beef has been cooking away - so will just reheat it later and then have cold tomorrow night - Be able to have a corned beef and cabbage dinner - remember it being a favourite of Jiggs of cartoon strip fame.

Have a good day Berona and look after yourself.

Perse xx

Hi Perse, you may have gone by now but no problem. Talk to you again later.
Don't know what happened to my post. When I submitted it, the paragraphs got moved around the wrong way, so I had to edit it, and they kept duplicating. Maybe GR are doing maintenance, so I'll go away and come back later.

Hello Patricia. Haven't seen you for a while. Hope you are well.
Father Christmas?? Not already again? I have a few birthdays before that and they are giving me a pain trying to think what to give - then we go through it again for Christmas!
Hope the rain doesn't dampen your spirits. It has been cold to-day with not much sun - but no wind to-day, thank goodness.

Persephone Report 6 Sep 2010 09:19

Evening from me Patricia.

Berona, Pat is referring to my remarks about sanity clauses and Father Christmas - Pat only believes because she likes lots of presents.
I have finished the last of the Larsson books - I do hope his partner and his brothers can resolve their differences etc and publish the fourth book. Bit like the family tree - I like it much better when everything is resolved.

We had a picture of Benalla (Victoria) main street in flood in our morning paper today. My OH immediately got concerned about the secondhand bookshop there so he has sent them an e-mail. When we did our secondhandbook crawl through part of Victoria the Benalla one was his favourite. Hard to believe there is so much flooding after how dry it all was when we were there.

Was watching quake victims tonight on TV - these two youngsters were digging up the slushy ground looking for the young lads bike. They didn't succeed but they did dig up the wheelbarrow that was buried in amongst the sludge. It is amazing how it has gone through the middle of houses splitting them in two. Some are fairly new houses - one couple had only just moved into their new home. Another woman still had her for sale sign outside and the Real Estate Agent had used a slogan about New home on the move.

The seismologists over from the States are so excited about it all and are running around measuring etc with such glee. Whilst poor home owners are wondering how they are going to rehouse etc.

Hi Persey and everyone:-)

The floods are terrible Perse. My Cousin was stuck just outside of Maryborough over the weekend and couldn't get into town, so they had to travel to Euroa to get through.
Now they're talking about evacuating Shepparton, where my brother lives.
Ive been lucky down here, we've not been flooded this time. Its also wonderful to see our river flowing again!
As of the 1st of September our water restrictions have been eased, we are now able to water the garden and wash our cars. I was going to wash my car last weekend, ha! wouldn't you know it it rained nearly all weekend - so my car's still dirty!!

I have been nearly everywhere in Victoria - so have been through Shepparton - they have a car museum there - on the way to Benalla. Seen the Maryborough Railway station too.

I just love all the little places in Victoria ( and the big ones as well). Walhalla up in the Alpine trees was absolutely fascinating, talked to a couple there who did not even have Television reception. They were on a generator for years before they got power.
