My daughter has a cat as well as their puppy Bella. Lilly barely tolerates Bella. Doesn't seem to bother Bella - she bounces around her as she does the children. She's been swiped a couple of times but just goes back for more with a silly grin on her face.

When we bought Molly into the house Missy was ten. She let Molly know straight away that she was the boss. They became quite close but Missy was always "top dog". She wouldn't share her bone or food with Molly and we thought that was fine. It was important for Missy to know that the new "kid on the block" wasn't a threat to her place in the family.

Hello Perse,

Do you pass muster when you get checked out by neighbours cat - I think she'ts inspecting the alterations, and the progress thereof.

Amanda, Yes SIL has taken to the cat, and even plays with him - though I think he had a bit of a whinge about the cats home fees when they went away for two weeks lol.

It has always amazed me the way animals have pecking order not just cats and dogs but have seen it in horses, cows and sheep. Sunshine (my favourite cow) was always first in to the milking shed and some of them would only go in certain stalls.

Do you find that Tec with your llamas etc?

Probably lack of progress there of. LOL Tec.

The cat over the road Toto is a Persian - we were away one weekend and my daughter and SIL were up from Wellington staying at our place. Toto came over for her usual sniffs she wandered into the house walked over to my SIL and bit him on the knee. She then stayed away from our house for about 3 or 4 months.

Perse - It used to be a case of me going anywhere with the dog - as when we went for walks he would be ten yards in front, either up the mountain, through the woods, or to the beach - he decided, I would follow. He would look backwards occassionally to check I was still following.
Now he is old and doesn't see as well, so he stays at my side, and I'm allowed to decide where we go - he grumbles if I go too far these days.

Looks like I still missed everyone. I have to add one of my stories to the pets subject.
I once had a cat who sat on a certain step at the same time each day, waiting for me to put his dinner down to him.
One day, he was out there as usual, and he had company. The other cat was very thin and bedraggled looking. I put the dish out as usual, and my cat sat there and watched while the other one ate everything; then, as he was licking the dish clean, my fellow walked over to him and gave him a swipe and he took off, never to be seen again. My own cat then sat beside the dish, waiting for me to re-fill it.
I'm sure he brought the other one home to give him a feed.

Hi there Tec,

Well done Pat - my youngest does pub quizzes all the time, she was the same at school was always involved in quizzes and she also was on various debating teams.
I originally had typed 'quizes' and thought that doesn't look right - strange word when it is pluralized.

Hello Perse,

I hope it's a nice day for Kiwis - been horrible here, grey and wet, but warm.
I'm no good at quizzes - the brain retains less and less these days.
Spelling is a good example - I used to be the brainbox when it came to spelling - now alas - I've given up correcting, and tend to think "Oh they'll know what I mean" lol. Got a spellcheck on e-mails etc, but miss it on here...........Gallopping old age!

Hello everyone:-))

Well done Pat - all that reading has done you good:-))

Our day is looking good so far. Blue skies, no wind and 20 degs. A fresh spring day. Yesterday was horrible - cold, wet, windy and then to top it off a thunderstorm.

Good Morning Sue,

Your day sounds good - weatherwise. Are you busy today - or is it a pottering day?

Persephone Report 10 Sep 2010 22:13

I'll put the coffee on and think about what I will do today... Pondering over what one just might do or not do..... is that just a form of procrastinating ... if so I am jolly good at it.

Think Carole is going visiting this weekend so hope that the weather keeps calm for her.

Lovely day here yesterday, and whilst the fence builders took away a lot of the old dilapidated fence underneath the ivy and they took away ivy and jasmine there was still a lot of ivy left so I was out raking and sweeping etc. Now the hard part will be actually getting rid of the ivy - there are a lot of thick scraggly stumps down there that need to be dug up. My pair of tuis that visit have returned - they seem to have been away most of the winter - the day the fencing chaps were here there was a lot of chatter from them.

I have been reading Julia's stalking thread - it took me several minutes to work out how to PM myself. Duh!!!

Tec - just a lazy day today I think. Perhaps reading on the verandah. Sound good?

Persey - I took out two old rose bushes that weren't doing well at all. I've noticed that I'm still getting shoots coming up from one of them but it seems no matter what I do I can't get rid of them.

Julia's "stalking" thread is quite worrying. How easy it must be to find out a person's details over the internet. When you sent yourself a message did you answer yourself? Did you sound like a nice person? lol

Tecwyn Report 10 Sep 2010 22:26

Is that coffee ready yet Perse?

I don't plan my day very much these days - wait to see what the day has in mind for me lol.

Ivy is awful stuff, especially once it gets a hold. It grows through from my neighbours wild garden, so I'm forever fighting it back. I've noticed the wood pidgeons enjoy the berries though.

What are tuis please?

Tec
