Hi there Janet and Berona

Carole - Maldon has a car museum OH spotted it and came back and asked me for $5 to get in. He is only allowed $1 and lower demonination coins when we are away.
I had a lovely look around Maldon while I waited - it was like a look in the past. The old shops and awnings etc. I was absolutely amazed with the place.

You know Berona I wish this weather would make up its mind it was sunny here on Friday and then it was so cold I was shivering on Saturday it was worse than during the middle of winter. Sunday I wrapped up warm and then I sweltered when we went out. Today has been a bit of a mix of overcast and sun but yep I was bright and breezy.

Persey who could do with little athletics....

Hello Persey:-)

Do you remember a little lolly shop, I think it was called Maldon Lolly Shop, I also saw a petrol station with the petrol pumps on the road side, (not the usual drive into) you just pull onto the kerb side to fill up - it was very quaint:-)

Why is your OH only allowed $1?

I was also absolutely amazed at the place - of what I saw of it anyway, which wasn't that much really! That's why I'm hungry to see more:-))

Sorry Carole I went to bed it was getting late over here. Didn't think you would still be around.

Now early morning..... Our $1 coin is smaller than the $2 coin unlike yours and that gets him confused and whilst he can read (and very well at that he is finishing the last Larsson book now) he has enough trouble looking after notes here let alone over there. He actually likes the idea, means he has no worries about paying, though he does use his credit card for larger purchases. We were in Fitzroy and CD shopping made a purchase. later isame day we were in Prahran at another branch went to pay and did not have his card, rang first place was there, so used my card and then back to Fitzroy we went. It is the same here - his eftpos card gets left behind all the time as does his keys. I try and keep an eye on him, however, there are times we spend more on petrol going back to places looking.

Maldon Lolly Shop no I don't remember it - but I was in such awe of just about all the shops especially a café there. Yes I saw the petrol pumps... came across a place like that somewhere in Tassie as well - used to have them here like that but think they have all long gone.

Have you been to Walhalla? The old fire station was built with its frontage on the road and it straddles Stringer's Creek. It is a fair dinkum historic gold mining town and we even visited the cemetery (no rellies there). I bought two cards (like the Birthday variety) that have all the buildings on them back and front and they are to be put in frames. I would've liked to have traveled on their train but was not there at the right time of day.

One of the great things about Tassie apart from Scenic beauty is the history - being the oldest part of Australia with all the Georgian type buildings and so much of it having been built by convicts. Absolutely fascinating, we were like kids in toyshops going from one delightful place to the next.

Good morning/evening everyone from a very wet little spot in Aus.

Carole - I love Maldon and surrounding areas. I love Victoria:-)) I'm glad you had a lovely if emotional weekend.

It's pouring here at the moment. Nice to see the rain on the garden and lawn but it's still miserable:-(

Beautiful summer day here Sue - so looks like we are in for another belt of rain. Whenever you have it wet/fine we get it a day or so later... can you just keep sending the nice bits please? I mean is that too much to ask for.

Hello Persey , I'm glad to hear your fence is up at last , just in time for your Spring I guess ?

Thank you for asking after my family . Granddaughter is much better at the moment and hasn't done to cough 'til she's sick thing for a few nights now , my guess is it will probably start up again when the next tooth is on the move .
My daughter ( who is not the Mum of the coughing one ) is going back to the Drs on Wednesday . She is quite a closed person , in as much as I have to ask lots of questions rather than her volunteer information about how she is feeling and I haven't liked to probe to much as it makes her home in on her symptoms . She has given up smoking ( it's been a week today ) , seeing as she was feeling so panicked about her swallowing / throat / breathing , that can't be a bad thing . She has seemed better in herself but thats easy for me to say , how she is in herself only she knows but I'm hoping her DR will pay a bit more attention this time she goes .

SueMaid Report 13 Sep 2010 22:28

Amanda - what a worry for you. The trouble is when they grow up we can't make them do anything they don't want to. If your daughter was a lot younger you would just take her to the doctor and hopefully get it sorted. Giving up smoking is good - I wish my son would but he just laughs when I suggest it.

I bet you're glad the fence is sorted, Perse. I hate renovations of any kind. Sorry if you get our rain:-(

I do hope she can continue with not smoking. Sorry got your daughters mixed up a bit. I don't ask my daqughters too many questions either I leave that to my OH makes me look really good and then they just volunteeer info, to me and not him. It is called being wiley I believe.

I see where they gave those chaps in Chile nicotine patches but have now got the ventilation working so have sent them smokes down. Now if I was in charge they would remain on nicotine patches.

Like the Irish bloke that was given nicotine patches - they worked he stuck one over each eye and couldn't find his smokes.

My marriage seems to be one big renovation or maybe that is revelation.

Both my daughter's houses are in the throes of renovations. Seems to be a kiwi thing - there is always banging and buzzing every weekend around here.
Chap two doors along from me with two lovely little boys seems to be also on the permanent fix up lark. One of his kids is into flags (has been since he could walk) and each day we have a different flag up their flagpole. I bought a book on heraldy and flags so I could look up ones that I didn't know.

Sue ..... I have to confess that even when they where all kids I wasn't much good at making them do what they didn't want to : (
I have been worried about her ( but my OH says I'm not happy unless I've got something to worry about ....lol ) .

I really ought to give up smoking myself , I might try your Irish patches idea Persey .

Hello all

Just back from a few days R&R at Margaret River.

Amanda, I can sympathise with your daughter as I am afflicted with the same condition, anxiety attacks.

Sometimes I find it very difficult to swallow. An endoscopy a few years ago showed no physical problems.

It doesn't always happen but when it does I find that thinking about it actually makes it worse..

On the subject of flags ....... I only realised awhile ago that the Union Jack is really called the Union Flag ......it's only the " Jack " when flown at sea apparently .

I'm a bit sick of seeing our neighbours West Ham flag flapping like the clappers in their back garden ( that looks like a tip ) but I comfort myself in the knowledge that it will soon disintegrate in our English winter ( as have all his previous flags ) .

SueMaid Report 13 Sep 2010 22:46

I was going to give you a lecture on smoking Amanda - but I won't:-)) I worry about my lot at times but usually things go along ok. My children talk to me about their problems and in one way that's good but sometimes it's can be a bit of a burden. At least I know what's going on.

Hello Allan .....it's lovely to see you back and I hope you and Mrs Allan had a lovely time away : ))

I'm so pleased you have popped up and mentioned how you have been affected ( I hope you have it more or less under control now ) it sounds like the same thing my daughter is getting , she has been so terribly frightened by it ( as have I , it's made me feel very helpless ) . She says thinking about it makes it worse , hence the fact I haven't quizzed her to closely ) , I've looked it up on the www and it is a relatively common symptom of anxiety but I think the sufferer feels so terriably alone with it : ((
