Hi Amanda,
Hope you are well, and manage to get a peaceful night with little Emily. Pity you weren't able to get more work done in the garden. Should have recruited the visitors, given them a tool each, and directed operations while you supervised - sounds good to me.
I am hoping to get a better night tonight. Last night was a disaster. When we had two labs they were quite happy to sleep in the kitchen. When herself died, himself decided he wouldn't stay downstairs alone, we tried everything. So we relented and put his bed on the landing opposite our bedroom door. He settled there because he knew where we were. But now he is old, arthritic, doesn't see as well as he did, he has been "difficult" to get up and down stairs without a lot of persuation. Last night he flatly refused to budge, although he seemed to want to go up. Ended up with me sleeping on the sofa downstairs. I laid awake most of the night while he slept all night. This morning I was wrecked, he was full of beans - can't wait for tonights performance.

Hi to anyone whose arrived since i last posted~~~
Bit too windy to do any gardening here today Amanda, good for getting the clothes dry, with 4 adults (2 aged 24 and 22) in the house my washing machine is on none stop! It's the drying that's the prob. I have a washer /drier but can't do both at the same time .lol, and the tumbler is expensive. When the children were young | had a separate tumbler, great cos you could do both at the same time in winter, but a pain cos my kitchen isn't that big.
Tec, I'm pretty good with important docs , have files for everything I handle, hubby handles the finances, so leave that to him, as an financial acct , one doesn't keep dogs and barks oneself. My GR notes on the other hand are all over the place on scraps of paper all over my desk and in 2 folders , but just thrown in ,not filed !!! I only agreed for son to have the TV at 4pm, it had gone by 6 !!
Phil Collins is not quite as good as I thought it would be, not fussed on him covering other songs, was put off with his opening song of Tears of a Clown, a song I love.

Hello Pam, What a nice surprise, it's lovely to see you here again, and I know your interesting posts have been greatly missed. Your job sounds very interesting, and sounds like you meet a lot of interesting people too.I hope you enjoy driving, because that's an awful lot of mileage, so I hope the roads are mostly good. It would be too awful if they had to pay accommodation were you to get stuck, as you say shock horror lol. Our new coalition government is in as much turmoil as yours sounds to be - we are currently being threatened with everything being cut to the bone, and thousands of job losses. I have no confidence in any of them I'm afraid. Anyway, lovely to see you here, take care, and don't work too hard, I don't suppose you'll get any extra.
Tec.

Hello Pam ..... your work sounds very rewarding and all that travelling must be quite exciting .
Sandie ......as a mother of four I understand the washing buisness....lol....mine used to be on at least three times a day !! I've never had a tumble dryer though and have always used the line in good weather and one of those old fashioned hoist dryers in the kitchen . One of my G.Grandmothers was a " washer woman " , I must have inherited her skills ....lol Tec .....poor you , spending the night on the sofa . It is a worry when the canine friend gets old , ours have always slept in their baskets in our bedroom , they are no problem except if there is a round of " wind " going off !! Have you thought about just leaving him downstairs but with the doors open so he can wander up if he feels like it , or are you worried that he might fall ?

Hi Sandie,
I also manage to keep on top of important documents, and financial things, but I do tend to hoard things that are no longer relevant or current - so must have a session sorting out old things again.
I do feel sorry for my poor old dog, he's been such a brilliant and obediant dog that now I feel I just have to play it his way, but I so hope I can get to bed tonight - what a predicament.

Hi Amanda, The trouble with my dog is that he has to be with or near me all the time. This will sound silly to anyone who's never had a dog like that. When I used to go away for the day to visit my mother he would sit in the bay window all day long and refuse to move, even for food, or to "visit" the garden. I've tried leaving him downstairs at night because it would be so much easier for him - and me - but he sits at the bottom of the stairs crying and getting into a right state of anxiety that it's cruel.
I may yet end up crying at the bottom of the stairs in a state of anxiety lol.

Mine was the same Tec he was a rescue dog tho, he was marvellous with my children who were only 2 and 4 when dad had him. Some sw*ne had thrown him out, cos it was well advertised in the local paper by the rescue centre that he'd been found! How cruel can some peeps be. He lived with dad most of the time, but we shared him and I had him for his last 6 yrs as dad couldn't walk him his regular 3 times a day :( Dad was 2 weeks off 91 when he died and Sandy ( we didn't name him lol) was 18 when he went. Off to get a glass of wine:) It's Friday after all:)

Tec.....it is a predicament for sure . If you end up having to be downstairs everynight you'll have to get a put up bed or something , sleeping on the sofa is going to do you no good if it becomes a rugular thing . I hope he makes it up the stairs tonight , I guess being a Labby he is a bit to heavy for you to carry ?

Hello all - thank you for the birthday wishes but I feel like a fraud. My birthday is today (Sunday) - I get mixed up:-))
My OH spoiled me with a basket of flowers - proteas and gum leaves. It's lovely.
Pam - how lovely to see you back. We've missed you.
Tec - we do worry about our old dogs don't we. My little dog is always under my feet now. I suspect her sight isn't as good as it could be and I know her hearing is going.

Good Morning Sue............
You wanted two birthdays didn't you? It is confusing enough for us Poms, never knowing quite what day it is with you. Glad you had a nice gift from OH - are you having a cake with the 39 candles on it. Yes our old dogs are a worry, but we have to do our best for them.
Amanda, My dog is much too heavy for me to lift - he's heavy, and I'm feeble lol.

Oh my gosh !!
So it is.lol and I hadn't had one when I said I was going to have one ! That's the thing about not working, most days are the same , don't know the date, have to write everything down.. and it aint my age cos I finished at 50, not half way to being an OAP yet. Perhaps it has something physiology to do with hubby's new car which has the registration ** 10 OAP , he was gutted when they told him cos he's not a pensioner either.lol Cheers anyway, halfway down this glass, I'll probably think it's Monday if I have a second :))☺☺☺

I'm off to the markets this morning:-)) Speculate all you like about what I'll buy there.
By the way Persey - I apologise for my disrespectful comment regarding the dead hamster. I hope you all forgive me for my insensitivity.
