I may very well play up at the meeting Amanda. I know exactly what this meeting is about. We have raised some money and the hospital want it:-))

The reason I like my grey hairs so much is because I have always had really fine hair ( my Dads was called "baby fine " ) , mine snaps and so I have to keep it short . The grey ones ( I'm going salt and pepper not in swathes ) are much stronger ......so by the time I'm eighty I'm hoping to have a magnificant head thick of silver hair : )) Time will tell .

My OH had hair transplants it was either that or a black felt tip according to him. With his first operation he ended up with black eyes and looked very bruised and then when the plugs started sprouting we were able to call him Punch & Grow.

I'm back,

Amanda and Sandie, yes my dog did go upstairs last night, but only after I threatened to set the Duchess on him - he soon shifted then lol.

I never eat beetroot, can't bear the stuff.

Sue ...on a serious slant . Do you usually raise money on behalf of a hospital or do your group raise money independently and then give to the good cause you think is appropriate ?

If the hospital is coming " begging " then the cakes are on them for certain : ))

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 20 Sep 2010 22:44

Persey ....that's cruel but also very amusing : )) Did the transplants work ?

Tec ....pleased to hear he made it up the stairs and that the duchess didn't have to come out " guns blazing " at him .
I don't eat picked Beetroot ( the vinegar played havoc with me innards ) but fresh boiled is the food of the Gods ( until you reach saturation ) .

Amanda - we raise money for equipment that benefits cancer patients. When we raise some money we ask the departments that treat the patients if they have a wish list and then we negotiate with the companies to get the best price and buy the equipment. The hospital tries to have us hand over the money to them but we know it'll go into administration or into the general hospital budget. We also help the local hospice who are just happy for the help because they don't often fund raise.

Sandie - Don't encourage these girls - they need no encouragement.

As a simple and innocent Welsh boy who has led an extremely sheltered life, I didn't understand the Tesco thread anyway, so had no idea what it was about, and didn't understand the "jokes".

Right Sue , now I see where your coming from . I think it's a darn cheek that the hospital thinks you should just had over the cash to them ( and I assume this is a situation that happens on a regular basis ) , you stick to your ideals , eat there cake then say NO ! ................lol

Hope it all goes well , you and your co-workers have my greatest admiration : ))

Tec .... I'm so sorry to have rattled your innocence , you shouldn't have gone and looked ....lol

Hair transplants do work - though he did not have enough donor area for more than about three transplants, so he had to have a bald patch at the back and when the youngest was at the Jewish school he would wear his kippah at the school and this covered that patch. Most of the parents had black skullcaps but my OH had a brown velvet one with gold embroidery (nothing but the best for him) looked very distinguished.

The transplant hair just went grey like the rest, and as I said mine is just the faded look can't tell really that I was a redhead.

I'd like to know how Tec knew which thread to look at. After all there are many threads on page 1. Did you go trawling Tec?

Amanda - they try about once a year. Each time a different tactic but we always know what it's about. Their department is called Community Partnership lol

Brown velvet with gold embroidery? Very nice.

We always make a donation to the hospices when people are unfortunate to die of cancer. My FIL had lovely treatment for seven or eight weeks at a hospice up in Whangarei. They were only open on week days but as they loved "Poppy" - he was such a lovely man - they opened on the weekends as well just for him and my OH would go on a trek every weekend to be with him.

I also give to the Burns Trust here - it costs so much for the special beds that they have and having seen children suffering from burns... I think they deserve it.
