Hello Tec. I hope you and your Duchess are well.

A large group of my Kent family are from Chatham and also Dover. OH's mother's family come from Rochester although the family don't believe me.

Tec.... I've got Kentish ancestors as well . In fact my Great Great Aunt Amanda was born in Chatham . I would love to visit there one day .

Sorry there isn't enough room for anyone else at the stew table , I would offer to post you some in an envelope but I think there won't be any leftovers .....lol

How is the slow cooker (crock pot) cooking going Tec? They really are invaluable - I even take one as part of my contribution to parties... doesn't cram their oven to heat up. Just plug it in when I get there.

Do you think we all should come Amanda and bring along our crockpots?

We're not invited? Oh and there I was getting out my best party dress. Can you imagine your boy's face if this lot turned up? Talk about a Mad Hatter's Tea Party:-))

LOL...Sue .....his face would be a picture I'm sure ....lol

I'm not certain about what he will make of " celebration stew " . I do hope it goes down well .

I'm wondering about doing it in two big saucepans , that way I'll be able to fit in enough dumplings to feed the five thousand : )

Persey , the crock pots sound interesting .

Hi Sue,

Yes we are both well thank you.

I would think the occupations of your ancestors would be interesting in Kent - probably connected with agriculture, shipping, or the sea.

Mmmm - I love dumplings.

I used to have a crock-pot. It came in handy with the children's sports. It was great to come home to a ready cooked meal.

My daughter uses one often. The children are mostly eating what the adults do so it's easy.

Mostly ag labs, Tec. However I did google the surname and it would appear that one ancestor was - in effect - a customs officer who helped foil a gang of smugglers.

Persey the crock pot (slow cooker) is fantastic, I use it all the time, and with winter coming on I'm going to buy a bigger one. I bought the smaller size, which is fine, but want a bigger one. Did a joint of Brisket in it recently,
melted in the mouth - brilliant.

Can I be the White Rabbit at your Mad Hatters Tea Party Amanda - I will probably be late though.

I love dumplings too : )

How are the Sunflowers getting on Sue ?

I started off a load of pure white Hollyhocks a few weeks ago and they already have their first " true " leaves ( I pinched the seeds off some on the allotments ) , next year hopefully they should make a splendid stand .

Persephone Report 23 Sep 2010 23:12

Um err ahh Tec .... think some of mine were more brewery orientated several of them ran pubs, there were a few Mayors and a lot of them have Freeman after their name plus some in the Navy.

Then as they get nearer present day I have medical practioners (surgeons) one husband and wife both in medicine.
I am always amused that they put things like so and so Gentleman from Oxney Kent.
What is even more amusing to me is my father had no airs and graces he was working class through and through but now I dig back into his history and there is a lot of the "gentry". My mother on the other hand liked the niceties and her aunts were very refined and dignified etc but digging back in their lot there is a lot of the hoi polloi.

Good evening/morning all

Sorry I'm late ( again ) but I do have a valid excuse.

I took myself off to A+E after a lot of running round doing other thing's, I got there at 5-45pm and after initial natter with Triage Nurse I had to wait 3half hrs before I saw the Dr, what a waste of time as all she said was my hip pain was probably caused by my athritis, but if it was to continue more than 3day's I should go and see my Dr to see if he wanted any further investigation, I'v already had it for about 8dys. So all that time waiting was wasted and if I do go to the Dr he will probably send me for an X-ray, I don't see why they didn't do one today to save me another visit. GGGRRR

Now there's a thought....

we would have to smuggle our crockpots of stew through customs.

You can't even smuggle an apple into NZ.

Hello Diane - don't let that put you off. Please see the doctor and have that x-ray.

Amanda - the sunflowers are growing quite well but my Aimee pulled a couple of them out. I popped them back in so we'll see how they go.

Evening Diane

I agree why not give you an x-ray, that reveals whether you do have arthritis or not?

A question: Have you had a bone density test?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 23 Sep 2010 23:24

Hello Uzzi - hope you are well,

Hi Diane, Sorry you had a wasted journey - it's called passing the buck. But you should now visit the doc and suggest an X-Ray if he doesn't, don't just accept painkillers.

You had some interesting ancestors Persey - my mothers ancestors were farmers, some with large estates employing many people on the land and in the houses. My fathers were all Ag-Labs, and shoe makers.

Tec.
