Diane Report 24 Sep 2010 14:35

Hi Sue. Amanda Perse and Linda.

the weather here today is very cold and feel's like a winter's day, BBRRR

Amanda, not the best of day's for you hun, ( Perse you are mean laughing ) maybe one of your guest who are comeing for the stew dinner is able to re-light your boiler hun.

Linda, you poor thing but just remember not to send your germ's via cyber space down the thread lol. A bit late I know but you do look really nice after having your hair done even though you alway's look nice and well presented.

Well I went to the Dr's about my hip and she is makeing an appointment for me to see a specialist to see if my Osteoarthritis has deteriated any more, as that is what she think's is causeing all the pain.

Sue I hope the party goes well at your daughter's and you have a lovely time.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Sep 2010 17:17

I hope that you don't have to wait too long to see the specialist Diane, but given the state of the NHS, I wouldn't be holding my breath.

I know that I have threatened to give him away before, but this time he goes!!!

Given that I don't feel well, I managed the meals on Wheels fine, but it was a bit of a rush to get to the hospital in time for OH's appointment, so I had to eat my sandwich in the car. He could drive there, but as he had to have drops in his eye, he wouldn't be able to drive back.

So we pay the extortionate parking fee and turn up at out patients only to be told that there is no eye clinic today. He should have received a letter in mid August telling him that it was postponed until next Friday Oct 1st. He of course says he hasn't, but I glanced down and saw he had two appointment letters in his hand and in the middle of the page, I could read 1st Oct. He is reassuring them he had heard nothing, but I could see him surreptitiously looking at the letter and he was being so nice about the postponement. As we will be away next week, he had to rearrange it for two weeks time. When we got out, it seemed that he had got the letter after all, he just hadn't bothered to read it properly. Grrrrrrrr big time.

Then he wanted to go to an old fashioned DIY place to try and get something, he spent absolutely ages with the chap sorting through old boxes. In the end he wasn't sure if the one they had found would fit and have the correct type of screw thread. At that point I asked him why he didn't try it on the thing it was meant for. You have guessed it, he couldn't because he had left that at home. Grrrr again

Then we parked in the supermarket car park and to make things quicker, I said I would start the shopping while he popped around the corner to get his glasses straightened out because they were wonky I told him to phone me when he was finished so we could meet up. Of course he couldn't because he had left his mobile at home. Even more Grrring on my part

I think I am giving you a run for your money today Amanda. I do hope you get the boiler fixed because the temperature is really dropping.

Amanda2003 Report 24 Sep 2010 19:42

Goodness me , some of us have been through the " collective mill " today .

Diane , I hope you get the appointment to see the specialist soon , at least your Dr seems to taking your hip pain seriously . It is such a shame that now you are having a break you are plagued with discomfort .

Linda , your OH seems to be having a run of the silly beggars ....lol.... I hope that at least he got his specks straightened , it might help with his next lot of appointment letter reading .

I can officially declare " went the stew well " : )) Everybit of both pan fulls got consummed , there was a flurry of dumpling swapping as some diners became to full to manage it all . It was lovely to have all the kids and their patners sit down together for a change .
I am well and truly done in now , but it was worth it : ))

The boiler is still refusing to light , the chap over the road came and had a look but he couldn't make it work , so I'll just leave it until Monday now .
Don't worry Linda , my gas fire is on in the living room and I never used the boiler for the radiators anyway , as I didn't want the council to fit them but they insisted . So out of principle I refuse to use them .....lol

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Sep 2010 19:47

I am glad that the stew went well, it is nice to be able to get everyone together.

If you don't use the radiators, how do you heat the bedrooms? Do you have another way of heating the water, or shall I issue clothes pegs to the other thread users lol

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 24 Sep 2010 19:55

Yes Linda , clothes pegs all round will be the order of the day I should think ! Actually my son and his girlfriend live just round the corner , so if I get desperate I can always pop over theirs for a shower . Either that or its a flap round with a flannel .....lol

I have never heated the upstairs rooms , I'm not keen on being to warm and always think that if a room is chill then it's all the better to snuggle up in a lovely warm bed with a hot water bottle ( if it's really cold ) .

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 24 Sep 2010 20:26

Brr, I remember it being cold in the bedrooms when I was a child.I don't like the bedrooms too warm, but we have a thermostat on each radiator,so we can have all the rooms at different temperatures, the ones we don't use much we just keep on low to keep them aired.

I will just give the thread a quick squirt of perfume, I am not being flash, but I hate the horrible chemical smell of air fresheners

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 24 Sep 2010 20:36

LOL LInda ....it's the cold bedrooms of childhood days that have made me " hard as nails " when it comes to cold bedrooms now I reckon , I remember the mornings of ice on the inside of the windows etc ...lol

I do hope your perfume is a pleasent one and not one of those " heavy " types ( now they give me headaches ) .

Good morning/evening ladies. You two are really in the wars. Linda I often have to check dates and times for OH. Since he retired he just doesn't seem to get his head around things like that. If we're going out he asks a thousand times what time we're going:-))

I have a selection of perfumes Amanda, so I shall choose a light fragrant one just to eliminate those strange odours.

Good morning Sue, I sometimes wonder how OH used to hold down such a responsible job

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 24 Sep 2010 20:56

Hello Linda - it's selective because my OH always knows when the football is on:-))

Excuse me for interupting this orgy of male bashing - but may I just say, if you lot were to stop twittering at us for five minutes, ramming lists of "to do" things under our noses, and generally harrassing us, we might have time to pay more attention to what we're supposed to be doing.

A Mere Male.

Ooh Tec, we do not twitter, we merely point out the error of your ways

If Mother wants to stomp about Hmmphing, then so be it - Hmmphing has no effect on me, in fact I find it rather amusing.

I have no erranous ways - apart from not being able to spell erronous lol.
