In the US we used to go to a drive in (everything is ) Ice-cream place and I would get a hot fudge sundae and my cousin Judi would get a butter pecan one. We have pecan pie here but they only sprinkle chopped nuts (of what I don't know) on top of sundaes.
Then there is their pumpkin pie where the pumpkin filling comes out of tins. They don't cook pumpkins themselves they only carve them at Halloween.

Macadamia nuts are expensive here, very nice and a few years ago I found that I liked pistachios..... and they are addictive.

I'm so glad I don't live in the States, because having a sweet tooth I would be the size of a house and not be able to resist all those fantastic concoctions they create - as it is I resist temptation, and a cream doughnut is a treat to me.
I remember asking for a beef sandwich in a roadside cafe in the States. When it arrived I swear there was a 16oz steak on my plate, surrounded by a mountain of salad, and a huge bap on the side. Here a beef sandwich consists of two thin slices of bread, containing a a slice of beef you can see through if held to the light.
No wonder the average American has a weight problem.

Tec.

I forgot to mention cashew nuts which I love - sometimes found in Chinese dishes - delicious.

Good morning/evening. The sun is shining here so perhaps a lovely day ahead.

I think Berona said that daylight saving starts at the end of next month but it's actually this coming weekend.

Macadamia nuts are expensive here too which is silly because they're grown here. I love pecan nuts too.

I won't be on here for too long as I have a meeting to go to. Just a normal committee meeting so very boring.

Tec - when my father first asked for a sandwich and he got french fries and salad with it.... he said sorry I didn't order that. It was so hard to order a plain old sandwich. Then we didn't like their bread and when we stayed at my cousins we would buy French, Italian or German Bread. Their sandwich bread was so springy and then it would roll around in your mouth and be hard to digest.

Cashews are naughty too I have to finish the packet.

Morning Sue welcome to the nutty thread. Your life seems to be one long meeting of late.

I want to go to the city but himself has got a bid on Trade Me and I have to keep an eye on that before I can go out.

Good Morning Sue - I hope the sun does shine for you today.

Our time change is around the third weekend of October, about the 26th. Then we will have long dark evenings.

Do something outrageous at the Committee Meeting, and liven up proceedings lol..........I would.

Good evening Tec
Good morning Perse and Sue

Happy Birthday Berona, hope you enjoy the cake the family will make you lol.

I too love Nut's but have been told they are one of the no no's if you have high cholesterol as is white bread, pity I love both of them so my level is a little bit high but not high enough for me to be worried, bread is my biggest weakness and were nut's are concerned a bounty is my downfall ( but not very often ).

Hi de Di
How are are you feeling now?

Tec - What would you suggest Sue do to liven up the proceedings?

One of the things you can do is adopt another persons posture and then when they change you change and keep doing this... it is very norty though.

My OH noticed someone immitating him once - but the guy didn't seem to realise he was doing it. My OH was standing and the other guy was seated and in the end my OH put both hands behind his head and leaned back the other chap did the same and fell off his chair.

Hello Sue
Yes it is Berona's birthday today.

I'm not to bad today as I have found a position I can get in on the couch that allow's me to sit and type on my laptop.

I see you are off to another meeting, do you ever get fed up going to them or does it depend on who the meeting is with.

It seems like I go to a lot of meetings but we only have a once a month committee meeting. The other meetings are generally just sit down and chat meetings. I don't mind them but our monthly meeting is more formal with minutes and agendas etc. We try to make a point of having lunch together afterwards so we have something to look forward to.

Now I'm really confused about it being Berona's birthday.

Maybe Diane is right but I am sure Berona said the other day that she was a Scorpio.... and I said so is my OH.... because she asked if there were other Scorpios.

Us Librans get confused at times tho.

Hello Diane - Good to see you here - glad you can post again.

Sue - Look around the table at the most sober sided person there, and pull a face at them, cross eyed and tongue out - preferably when no one else is looking - then keep a straight face - I've done that. The look on their face is worth it.
I was on a committee where an old lady would fall asleep and snore loudly, causing whoever was speaking to shout over her - hysterical - I and the secretary always got a fit of the giggles.

Tec.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 27 Sep 2010 22:52

I could do that Tec - but I probably won't. The thing is that we all have a good laugh together it's just the stuff we discuss is boring. I would love to have gone to your meetings - never a dull moment:-))

Hi Perse, I'm not to bad today hun, been very lazy and just lolling around.
I think it is Berona's birthday but we will have to wait until she post to find out for sure.

Hi Tec, if Sue take's your advice she will probably be banned from further meeting's, can't quite picture Sue pulling her tongue out at anyone lol.

I used to take the minutes at our board meetings and I was not supposed to say anything... I know that's hard to believe but I did keep quiet and I also learnt a lot and lots of secret squirrel stuff.

See you all later, he won his auction and looks like we will now have a replacement drop saw. That will be handy for me, go with my power drill, grinder and multi-cutter.

Have a good sleep Sandie in readiness for your birthday tomorrow your time.

Bye for now

Sue - The meetings I attended were always rather stuffy and serious, so pranks were not approved of - which made it so tempting to lighten the atmosphere.

Diane, I can imagine Sue being naughty if the mood takes her.

Enjoy your day,
