Hello, everyone and all:-))

Happy birthday Sandie, I hope you are having a great day xx

Well, everything here is a little hectic again, that's the reason Ive not been around - I just wish life would settle for us soon!!

Linda, I went to visit my dad's resting place last week - I haven't been for a while, so had a lot of catching up to do, and poured my heart out to him. Even though its been over 20 odd years since he went, I still feel the same as if it were yesterday:-((

We enjoyed a couple of sunny spring days over the weekend, so I managed to get out in the garden to plant some of my succulents. Some of the bulbs are starting to flower, I'm hoping in about 2 or 3 weeks time we'll have even more. I have also begun to replace some of the trees we lost here last summer. I am replacing them with natives, which should do well, providing the rain keeps up!!

I hope everyone is well, stay beautiful!!!

Berona Report 28 Sep 2010 12:31

I'm glad I looked in before I retire to my bed. Nice to see you posting - Carole and Patricia - haven't 'seen' you for a while.
Patricia - my sleep patterns are similar to yours. I normally go to bed between 9:30 and 10:30 but then I read and depending the interest in the book, sometimes don't switch off the light until midnight - then I'm awake again any time between 3 and 5am, so I make a cup of coffee and go back to bed and do more reading. Then, I wonder why I sit down to watch a bit of television after lunch - and drop off to sleep for an hour or so.
Right now, I'm still taking tablets for my shingles and they have changed my sleeping habits so that I can't read much before the page seems to swin around, and I sleep for anything from 10 to 14 hours! However, three more days and the tabs will be gone and I might be back to normal. If so, that should work in nicely once the Brits go back an hour and we go forward an hour - giving us a couple of extra hours to talk before they go to bed! I'm looking forward to it.

I am fine thanks. Perse, it was nice to see my sister, although I must say, I really hate shopping with her, but don't tell her I said so.

At least you don't need to make any lunch for yourself, you can just eat the one your OH left behind

I went out in the bus again yesterday. A lot of the commuters where these i-pods and they all sit there with tubes hanging out of their ears.
On the way back a young Chinese student sat next to me and it was like sitting next to one of those ornamental dogs that people have in the back window of their cars.... his head was bobbing up and down to the music. He looked a right pillock.
It was not a good day to go out bus was packed on the way in - I managed to get the second to last seat at my stop. It is school hols and then when I got to town found it was a university graduation day. But why oh why do people get off the bus in front of you and then stand still (they formed a group) so you just about fall on top of them.
Unlike Sue - I only bought a spinach and feta muffin and a medium sized coffee which was huge so goodness ony knows what they served as a large one.
I did a bit of research for a couple of GR members and whilst there I checked out on the microfiche some of my own. My grandfather's brother married a second time - all I knew was her first name having met her when I was young... I found the marriage year on microfiche and from there when I got home did a search and found her birth, death and first marriage. So was quite pleased with myself. He was a lovely old guy, when he came to visit he always brought his own white napkin (along with a safety pin). I never saw him in anything other than a suit with a waistcoat (needed that for the fob pocket for his watch) which he wore summer and winter.

I hardly ever use the bus, but we have so few of them that isn't all that surprising.
I am pleased that you did well in your research, i need to go to another record office for some of mine. I must knuckle down to it again

I am so old that I could have a bus pass if I wanted one - and from September to March I can travel half price on local trains too.

My neighbour who is 80 goes for miles on the bus, sometimes 70 miles one way - has lunch and catches the bus back.
She spends all day on the bus and likes to talk to people apparently.

Hope everyone is well,

Tec.

Persephone

Persephone Report 28 Sep 2010 21:37

I am going to do that Tec - when I get my bus pass in two years time - I will be train traveling and ferry boat traveling for free as well. I shall talk to all and sundry (well I do that anyway). I spoke with a nice young middle eastern chap yesterday at the bus stop. He was looking at the timetable and I said to him - haven't you changed your clock yet - he was looking at the ones for an hour earlier. He looked at his cellphone and said oh heck.. I hope he wasn't late for an appointment. LOL.

Hello Diane - I might eat his lunch later - have not long had my crumpets (with vegemite) and coffee.

Good Evening Linda,

The only time I use the bus is once a year when I take my car to be serviced at the dealers who is 15 miles away. I catch the bus home, then back to collect it. I could have a courtesy car but never bother.
I see things from the bus that I never see from the car.

Hello to Perse, and Diane, and everyone.

Tec.
