I think because Molly is little we still think of her as a puppy. With the care we can give our pets they can live to a good age - like us:-))
Goodnight Amanda - hope you feel much better after a good night's sleep.

I am far from fluent in Welsh ,Di, passed my O'level and did classes in spoken Welsh in my 30's.Sadly it's hardly spoken in S.E Wales. My niece and nephews who were born in N Wales are fluent, tho bil still can't conquer it.lol
Sue ,it is a worry when your pets get older, stupidly I thought my Sandy was just becoming lazy cos he became slow very suddenly, but he lived to the ripe old age of 18 and as a rescue dog , had the best that we could give him, he enjoyed his life with us and showed it with his affection :) Hope yours has a few more yrs yet :)

18 is a good age, Sandie. You must have looked after him well. Molly has a heart condition which may shorten her life span but the vet said she's doing well on the medication so fingers crossed.

It's pouring rain here and my son has just left for work - a 1 hour drive down the coast:-( It's a long weekend here so I know there'll be traffic on the roads. I've asked him to phone me when he gets there but he never remembers and because he has to set up and will be working alone I don't like to ring him.

Sue ,
What breed is little Molly ?
Sandy was a mongrel, but with a definite cross of Labrador in him, he was marvellous with the children, but cautious of men initially, dad and hubby excluded. Wouldn't like to say what I would like to do to the barstools that abandoned him.. their loss tho, our gain :))

Goodnight Amanda, sleep well - keep warm,
My dog has cost us hardly anything in vets bills over the years, just innoculations. Now his problems are all age related, but he does get the very best of care here. Of all the dogs we've had this one is the one that has stayed closest to me, I am not allowed out of sight, and he gets quite distressed if I'm gone for long. This can be problematic at times, but that's just the way he is.
Sandie, Here where I live is a very strong Welsh speaking area. Most of my neighbours use it as their first language. All my maternal relatives and ancestors were Welsh speaking - mostly from the Vale of Glamorgan. I support the language, and hope it continues to flourish, but I am not keen on the Welsh language fanatics who seem to think they are better than anyone who doesn't speak Welsh. It is a personal choice surely.
Sue I think your mum is taking some magic vitamin - please ask her what it is so that I can have some lol :))
Tec.

Sandie - Molly is a maltese terrier. The breeders have dropped the word terrier from the name but to me they are terriers.
Tec - Molly has cost us nothing more than innoculations and occasionally her teeth cleaned. They are totally reliant on us for their care and are such trusting companions how can we not look after them.
My mum has always been an energetic person - she never sits still. My sister is like that too - but I'm not:-))

Tec, Although my niece and nephew have non Welsh speaking parents, they use Welsh between them as their first language. Bil thinks they are trying to hide something from him, but he's used to it now. Ex sil can't even pronounce any Welsh words.lol I'm with you on the Welsh fanatics. Only my one aunt was Welsh speaking as a child but she slowly lost it when she moved to the South East and then to Coventry, when she died I taught her grandson, who is an Oz the Lords Prayer and the National Anthem in Welsh. First to read at his nan's funeral and second to sing at the rugby matches !!

I'm back and as I thought most of the brit's have reired to bed.
Good night Tec and Amanda pleasant dream's to you both and your OH's.
Sue my 2 last dog's did not cost me very much either and well worth the companionship they gave me and the children. Sheba was a cross labrador german shepherd and Max was a pedigree german shepherd, sheba was 17yrs when she passed away and Max was 11yrs. Unfortunately both had to be put to sleep, sheba because she could no longer get around as her back leg's kept slideing apart when she stood up and the vet said she was in pain with arthritis, and Max had an opperation to remove a big growth off his bum area and after it he refused to get up unless I put a sheet under his tummy to assist him, but after 3day's he wouldn't even let me do that as his back leg's were also painfull. The third morning when I tried to get him up he snapped at me and I sat on the floor at the opposite end of the kitchen and cried to think he was in so much pain that he had tried to bite me. I had to call the R.S.P.C.A to help me take him to the vet's, but before they would help they insisted that I secured his mouth, I cried again as I did that and said to him I was only doing it for his own good.( Oh god I'm crying again telling you this) as I really hated to have to do that. When we got him to the vet's I couldn't stand it any longer and removed the affending item while I was in the waiting room, I had him lying on a blanket on the floor and when it was my turn the lady who had come from the R.S.P.C.A with us helped me drag the blanket into the surgery room and the vet put a muzzle on him while he examined him. He said his muscles in his back leg's had weakened even more after the op and it would be kinder to put him to sleep. I haven't had another dog since and only got my cat as she needed a new home. I'v stopped crying now, even after 14yrs it still upset's me when I think about all that.

I suppose everyone has gone by now.
Linda - I pity you "having to" look after Eve while her Mum has a rest (lol). I hope you didn't pinch her to wake her up!
I have to be off to the Doc's. Went yesterday for a monthly bloot test. I had my Driver's form for him to fill in and when the last patient before me went in, I thought "good - he's not busy" - but that patient was in there for nearly half an hour and by the time my turn came, there were six more waiting! (all appointments), so I offered to leave it with him and have to go out now to pick it up.
I get my car serviced and inspected next week and that will be transport taken care of for the next year. I might make it the last, but I have a year to think about that. I don't want to feel like my legs have been cut off and it gives me an independence.

Good morning Berona yes I'm still here, is it really a year since you last went to get your driver's form filled in by your Dr, it doesn't seem that long since you last had it filled in. Hope your blood test are fine when you get your result's.
