Berona Report 2 Oct 2010 02:16

Ah! still someone here. Hi Sandy. Is your hand giving you so much trouble that you can't sleep? Tell your doc that you can't sleep. He might give you what my doc gave me - and I've been sleeping on average, 12 hours a night. That's why I've been coming on late. It will help that we go onto daylight saving tonight - that will give me an extra hour, and then, when you go off daylight saving, that will be another hour. Some of the Poms work and only use their computers at night, while most of us Aussies are retired and can talk in the morning - that's when there seems to be more of us - but I pop in a few times a day and if anyone is here, we have a natter regardless of what time it is.

Hello all, from a glorious day here, its going to be 22 degrees today - sorry Sue:-)) Just had to tell you how lovely it is here!!!!!

Diane, I just read your post about your dear dogs Max and Sheba, you sadly had to put to sleep:-(( it broke my heart reading that.:-(( I hope we never have to go through what you went through. I'd be a complete wreck, as we all here would no doubt be!!!!
We all love our pets, they are just as much part of the family as our children are.

Today is the Aussie Rules grand final day (again) Last weeks game was a draw, so we have to endure it all again - I'm over it!!! So instead of watching the game, I'm going shopping this arvo.

Carole, who is off to enjoy some sunshine:-)))) xxx

Hand is a nuisance more than a pain Berona, if i sleep with my arm straight it is OK ish, but not looking forward to the colder weather as it really plays up in the cold and I'm outdoors.

I've finished work after 30 yrs but am not of retirement age just had my 56 birthday. Close but not quite there yet to get my works pension.lol

I can chat morning or night , unless I have something planned for the day:)
I'm a Pom , but prefer to be called a Taff , that's Welsh.lol.

Hello everyone from a very wet part of Aus. I don't think it's stopped all night. My son is working down the coast again so I'll be worrying until he gets there and then when he's due home ๏̯̃๏

We are now in daylight saving time.

Good Sunday Morning to you Sue,

So you won't be watering the garden today then?
It has been dry but cloudy here all day, and rather cool. Tonight and tomorrow is forecast to be very wet.

I'm sure your son will be fine - don't worry.

Hello Sue ..... I bet your thinking " what's the point of daylight saving time if it's only going to be gloomy and wet " ...... I hope your weather improves soon .
I worry as well if any of my lot have to travel anywhere . I hope your son rings to let you know he got there ok .

Diane .... the tale about your old dog is really sad , I'm not surprised it still upsets you after all these years ...... bless him x

It's been lovely here today . We took Emily ( with her Mum and her boyfriend ) to feed the ducks today , Emily was most impressed and can now say " duck " loud and clear ....lol

Hello Amanda - is your tooth any better? It sounds like you've had a lovely day - the simple stuff is always the best. It doesn't cost anything and the children seem to enjoy themselves. We took my daughter's 3 to the beach to collect shells awhile back. They still ask when they can go again.

Tec - I guess mothers always worry. He did ok yesterday - he said he just took it slowly. It's a long weekend here and people just go silly.

Good Morning Amanda,

I bet Emily loved feeding the ducks, all children seem to like that.

My day was spent hacking at things in the garden - I have a magnolia tree that has gone berserk in all directions, so will have to be quite severe with that - hope it doesn't die though.

Amanda2003 Report 2 Oct 2010 21:27

Good evening Tec .

Yes thank you Sue , the tooth ( or abscess ) is much much better today . I haven't taken any painkillers today at all .....yippee lol
I think something burst earlier ( I had a most unpleasant taste ) and it doesn't seem as puffy now , good job I'm still on the antibiotics .

The shells sound interesting , I expect your beach shells are much more " exotic " than ours , I have visions of beaches strewn with the sort of shells we would pay good money for .

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 2 Oct 2010 21:31

Tec .....she was feeding them from her hands and getting most excited , it was a precious moment to see .....lol

I'm not to up on Magnolia trees , I had a lovely " stella magnolia " in a big pot for a year or two but Milo decided to wee up it all the time and it died :(
I thought I'd hacked my Lilac tree to death a few years ago but it has recovered at last and flowered this year .

SueMaid Report 2 Oct 2010 21:40

I don't know about magnolias but a lot of plants thrive when you cut them right back. When my FIL was alive I grew roses. I would prune them and then my FIL would visit and prune them even further. Sometimes they looked like sticks in the ground but they would recover very well. He had the most beautiful rose garden and also grew dahlias and crysanthemums. He came from a long line of gardeners.

Amanda did you have the camera with you to capture the moment?

As Sue said, it's the simple things that children seem to enjoy best. My daughter always had more fun with the boxes her Christmaspresents came in than what was inside them. Often felt it would have been better to have bought her a pile of cardboard boxes lol.

Sue we have to take more care on the road at holiday time because they come in from the cities with the wide roads and dual carriageways and can't cope with our little narrow roads - but we just take extra care and watch out for nutters.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 2 Oct 2010 21:45

Sue, my OH used to be very harsh pruning things to the bone, and I would cringe, but things always seemed to grow back. Although I always prune roses hard back.

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 2 Oct 2010 21:53

Tec .....yes , the moment was captured on my camera : ))

I 've not met a child yet that doesn't like a cardboard box.....lol.....I have a lovely photo of myself and my two eldest Grandchildren ( when they where littler ) all in a big box ......I was having the most fun .......lol

All this chat about pruning is helping me to pluck up the courage to cut my roses right back next year . I usually only snip of a little bit here and there , that's probably why mine don't do much .

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 2 Oct 2010 21:58

Amanda I have trouble imagining you in a cardboard box lol :))

When you prune your roses put the secatuers low down, close your eyes - and snip. Don't tickle them :))

Good evening Tec and Amanda
Good morning Sue

Sue sorry to hear your weather is so wet but at least you are heading for the summer as we are heading for the winter. Please god it isn't as bad as the last one.

Amanda good to hear your tooth is a lot better and it sound's as though your abscess has popped Yuk. Lovely to see Emily enjoyed her visit with the duck's.

Tec someone I know well and truely hacked his Magnolia tree, but to my surprise it has started shooting load's of new branches so your's will probably survive a good pruneing.

Sorry if I upset anyone with what I said about my lovely dog Max, I just found myself writeing all about it when we started to talk about our elderly dog's, I try not to think about that last day and just usually think about the good memory's of him. Thank you all for listening to me waffling on again :))

Carole you are right we do all love our pet's and have to make some hard decision's about them knowing we take them for the right reason's :( sorry I upset you hun.

I well remember my daughter's second Christmas. My parents bought her a little tricycle and my in-laws bought her a bucket of pegs. No prizes for guessing which gift she played with the most. My daughter loved playing with her Nana's pegs so that's what she bought for her ☺

Hello Diane - please don't be sorry. We're all friends on here and we will listen to the sad stories as well as the funny ones.

I felt teary reading your story about Max because we've probably all been through that but it's the kindest thing we can do for them. It's our way of saying "thank you" for the love and companionship.

Tec.....I'll take your advice there but I think I'll keep my eyes open or I'm likely to loose a digit ! ....lol

Good evening Diane .....I hope you've had a good day today and that your hip hasn't played up to much .

Sue ....your daughter and the pegs is typical ....lol..... I have never seen the point in buying little children big presents as they always go for the little interesting things ....lol
