Diane - you mean you are actually going to bed before midnight??? Won't the others let you in the Brits' bed if you're late? Get there first and don't let them push you around. Sweet dreams.

Still no Allan or Perse? I have seen Allan on other threads - he seems to enjoy the amateur theatricals. Perse has been her OH's builder's labourer lately, so she might be busy there.

Hi Berona popped back to welcome you as you arrived as I was typeing.

Amanda, I'd thought about that one or ( Rod Stewart ) lol.

Sue hun, would I insinuate that :))

Good night again

Diane

Edited= Allan lost a very close friend last week and hasn't posted much since, just thought I'd let you all know why he isn't around.

Berona Report 3 Oct 2010 00:13

Possibly not as bad as you are having Sue. I noticed you said it was raining on Friday. We got none of it until Saturday morning and I was able to go out and walk in it without bothering with an umbrella. The afternoon was fine, but I think we have had showers overnight. Outside is all wet and my cat came in wet so it must be raining so lightly that I can't see it.
I don't mind it raining when I can walk in it but I hate carrying an umbrella and now that I have a walking stick, it's just as bad, I get so tangled up!
Oh, woe is me!!

I'm still here☺☺ ..... Scuse spelling, I'm on this blasted lappy !!!
Nothing you said Sue, it's just well past bedtime,!

I think I said I'm not a Pommie I'm a Taff, no racism please.lol

Weather here tomorrow is supposed to be heavy rain.ugh.

Sorry that you have a need for a walking stick Berona, please don't take that the wrong way as I don't know your age.
Dad and mil used one for ages, and I always made sure they had it with them, Dad was born in1913 and mil in1931, so there was quite an age difference between them.
Cousin , thought of as a brother cos he lived with us when my grandad died, when I was 5 is now 68 and uses a stick when he does his weekly hill walking on Thursdays, he's fit and looks way younger than his age..he's got a six pack , but he has trouble with his knee like I do,
Fine whilst walking, but aches whilst standing or sitting !!

Berona Report 3 Oct 2010 06:04

Sorry Sandie, I posted and left because I thought there was nobody left to talk to.
I have osteo-arthritis and although I can walk quite well without a stick, my left knee "goes" on me at times. It just clicks and throws me off balance. It feels like it is going backwards (like a dog's leg) although I know that isn't possible, but it gives me no warning and I have been favouring the other leg and have no confidence if I'm walking where there is nothing to grab in order to stop myself from falling down. The doc suggested the stick. It does give me confidence to walk properly because I know that if the leg doesn't work, the stick will.

I'm still getting used to it and I'm surprised at the power it has with other people. Strangers hold doors open for me and jump to give me a seat - makes me feel like a 'royal'!
I do appreciate it when people do that because I have the stick in one hand and my handbag in the other and it doesn't leave me with a free hand. I've tried a shoulder bag, but that's worse - because I have sloping shoulders, it keeps slipping off and I have to catch it before it gets to the floor. I am now wearing the bag over my left shoulder and against my right hip. It's a bit cumbersome, but it;s the best way I can manage it.

I googled magic eye and it looked like a little book a doctor once showed my youngest son. Each page was full of confetti-like dots and yet it was clear to see a number formed within the colours. I was amazed to see "33" very clearly and yet my son saw it as "44". Doctor said that he, too, could see it as 44.
He said son was red/green 'confused'. It explained why he had no trouble reading white chalk on the blackboard at school, but couldn't see anything written with red chalk - as most 'blackboards' are green these days!
It also explained why son played a good game of soccer on the days that they used a white or brown ball, but if a red ball was used, he said he kept 'losing' sight of it on the green grass!
If heredity, it is passed down from father through daughter to grandsons. That's how it was with us. My Dad was colour-blind and it explained why he went through two Stop signs. I went over the same street myself later and found that the Stop signs were red and they both had a big evergreen tree behind them! How he got through life without a mishap, I'll never know!
BTW - That doctor had a wonderful reputation, so I wasn't game to ask what he saw if there was blood on a green cloth!

Lol Berona,

I remember having a colour blind test in school . Passed with flying colours , no pun intended.lol

We first saw a Magic eye poster in Minorca , and neither or hubby could 'see' it, but I have a few books on it now and hubby is better at it than me !
The jigsaw tho was rather more difficult ☺☺

They do say that males are more likely to suffer with colour blindness than females. Glad your dad didn't have any mishaps with the traffic lights !!
I suffer with migraines so perhaps that's why I can't see the pictures as fast as my hubby can.
I had a Magic eye poster on the wall in work, in blue to match our seating .lol.
Our big boss 2 grades above me came in one day ( he was based 50 miles from us ) and saw it straight away, 2 planes in the sky :)

Speak later:)

Now I'm confused. But that's not hard to do: confuse me. It's about 5.45pm in London; 2.50 am here; and 3.50am in New South Wales (Sydney). OK. Not so confused any more.

And why am I awake at this hour typing away to myself? I can't sleep because of the noise of the rain on the roof and the frogs croaking away joyously. It's been raining here now for 2 weeks without letup. It is, after all, the 'wet' tropics: but I'm starting to go nutso. The weather pundits are saying we're having an early start to the wet season and all I can say it I hope to goodness we have an early finish. If it keeps raining like this you won't be able to find me for the length of the grass.

The schedule is that the grass gets to stay longer at this time of the year so that there's still some green on the ground around Christmas. Especially when there's a horse to feed! So, we hadn't been cutting it short. So, voila! what happens? The wet season start early and the grass had a flying start. The blasted guinea grass is already over my head in places and having a wonderful time reproducing willy nilly. I think I'll go crazy if we don't get some clear weather soon so that the grass can be cut. Won't be able to find the house.

Hi Pam,~~~

Don't think we've spoken before :)You are a night owl like me, if it's about 3am where you are, perhaps not as it is 6.50pm here in Britain.

We've had terrible wet weather here , Wales is hosting the Golf Ryder Cup and they are already a day behind cos of the torrential rain :(

Hope you get your grass sorted soon.lol

Good evening everyone, we are safely back home. The journey was dreadful ,it was really heavy rain all the way, which didn't make the driving easy.

We have had a lovely few days. Little Eve is coming on a treat. she is holding her head up and starting to really concentrate on toys held in front of her,she is deliberately reaching out and touching them. She is trying to grasp them, but she still has her thumb tucked into her palm most of the time,so grasping things is difficult.

We went to Windsor Castle yesterday and paid a fortune to her majesty for tickets, it was interesting though.

I have had a very quick read through of what I have missed, I can't remember most of it, except for the jigsaws. They have been a sort of Christmas tradition here for many years. I buy a large one and start it on the coffee table in the lounge, everyone who comes to the house ends up engrossed in the thing.

Good Morning Pam,

Good to see you again - wow you've certainly had a lot of wet weather - as Sandie said we've had a lot of rain here in Wales recently, but at least it lets up from time to time - seems to be every other day, one wet, one dry. It is now Autumn here so we must expect it as we go into winter. Summer wasn't too bad as British summers go, and we did have some lovely weather.
How are the baby birds? doing well I hope.
Hope you don't get overwhelmed by the long grass - we could always send out a posse from everyone on the thread to find you, armed with machete's lol - take care Pam, particularly if you're still driving long distances.

Noswaith Dda Sandie (Good Evening in Welsh)

Hope you've had a good day. I took Ianto for a short walk to the beach. I don't take him on the beach now as it's all rocks and pebbles and he has difficulty now walking on that. We do have sandy beaches around, but that means a trip in the car which presents it's own problems where Ianto is concerned.
Watched the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in India - very impressive, and entertaining. I find Indian culture fascinating, as is the country itself.

Good evening Tec, Poor old boy - lanto not you!!

I was thinking about your problem of getting him upstairs, what you need is a chair lift, I can just see him gliding upstairs on that. You could also use it when your knees are playing up

Good Evening Linda,

Glad to see you safely back, but sorry you had such a dreadful journey, driving a long way in torrential rain is tiring, especially on the motorway.
Nice to hear that little Eve is doing so well, and starting to take notice and "doing" things. I should imagine you treasured your time with her, and had to tear yourself away.

I trust you found Her Majesty in good health, and enjoyed Afternoon Tea at Windsor.

Linda - we have a stair lift that I had fitted some time ago, but there's no way the dog would get on it, he's scared of it. I never use it, mainly because I'm stupid and forget, prefering to moan as I ooh and argh up and down the stairs.

Do you watch Downton Abbey with Maggie Smith?
Well I know you don't watch it with Maggie Smith, but you know what I mean!

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Oct 2010 20:25

Strangely we didn't see her majesty at all. Given the price of the tickets, my OH thinks that a "royal" should be made to sit on show in every fifth room.

The only down side is that Eve's father spent most of the time in bed with "man flu". To be fair, he really was not well, we just hope that we don't get it

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Oct 2010 20:28

We didn't see Downtown Abbey, when was it on? We met our son and his girlfriend in Windsor and they came back to my daughters house for dinner last night, so we were having quality family time and wine. Except for poor old OH who couldn't drink because he had to drive them back to the station.

I am sure if you had lanto on your knee, he would use the lift

Tecwyn Report 3 Oct 2010 20:33

Downton Abbey is on ITV at 9 pm - part two- worth watching if you enjoy period drama - I watch the fixtures and fittings.

Don't be silly - can you imagine me sitting on a stair lift with a great big labrador on my lap - how absurd.
