Nos da Sandie - sleep well,

Good night Sandie - sweet dreams.

Tec - I thought I read something about a grown man throwing tantrums in T***o's. You really need to control yourself - very undignified.

Diane - I have a friend who used to tickle her daughter when she held her breath and that worked too. Thankfully that was one problem that I didn't have. My eldest son would threaten to run away when he was about 7. He never did although he did walk over the hill to my brother's house one day. My brother rang me and then they allowed him to stay for his tea. By bedtime he wanted to come home:-))

Good night Amanda and Sandie sweet dream's

Tec the house in Shrewsbury hold's a lot of good memory's for me and alway's wanted to go back there, we nearly did a few yrs after we came to Liverpool but mum and dad after going back to look at houses decided as my eldest brother was in university in Liverpool it was best not to move back.

SueMaid Report 3 Oct 2010 23:37

I've looked at a number of houses that were lived in by ancestors. That reminds me of a something I found out when I received a death certificate.

My dad's brother lives near Leeds in a house that he and my late aunt bought many years ago. I sent for a death certificate for an ancestor (2 x great grandfather) on my mother's side of the family. When it arrived I saw that my great grandfather was the informant on the certificate and to my amazement he and his family including my grandfather lived at the address my paternal uncle lives in now.

Hi Sue with number's, nice to see you popping in hun, how's you this wet evening or are you one of the few who haven't had the rain.

Sue, my sister's daughter had laughing fit's when she was little and was told to slap her face lightly to distract her, again that worked.

My eldest son ran away to his dad's once ( unknown to me ) until his dad rang me and said he had arrived at his, goodness know's how he found his way as my X lived about 4mile's away and the only time he had been there was by bus or car and he had walked there this time, must be like me and have a good sense of direction.

Diane I like Shrewsbury very much, got some good shops there, it's an interesting town. Have been to the big flower show there a few times.

Sue - I will try to behave at the shops in future - people do tend to get alarmed when I throw myself to the ground kicking and screaming :))

Well I must go to bed now,
Enjoy your day Sue, Berona, and all Down Under,
sleep well Diane, keep warm,

Goodnight,
Tec.

Sue isn't that weird for them to have lived at the same address.
How many yrs is it between your great grandfather and family and your uncle living in the house.

Tecwyn Report 3 Oct 2010 23:44

That's very interesting about your uncles house Sue - I wonder how that came to be?
Goodnight again,

Berona Report 3 Oct 2010 23:45

Looks like I made it before Tec retires! Missed Linda though. Hi to everyone. The day seems bright here but all cloud and we must have had rain overnight as my electric clock was flashing. However, it is wet outside but again, not like there has been a lot of rain. It's anyone's guess at the moment.

I love having the grandchildren here too but it's very hard to entertain them. I don't see much of the eldest - he is 15 now and works part time for a butcher - washing trays, sweeping sawdust, etc. so when school holidays come around, that's where he is. His sister is 12 and thankfully, not yet interested in boys, glamour, and those other things which makes them grow up so fast. She gets into my books to see what she can read - and I would be happy to give her some of the books - except that I like the whodunnits and every time she asks about a book, I remember that it had parts in it that I wouldn't like her to read at her age!
My step-granddaughter is 10 and loves to come here and get out the calculator, mobile phone, etc. and pretend she is working in an office. It wears thin quickly though, and she wants to go home and play with her friends.
The two youngest are boys. 7 and almost 4 and both mischievous imps. After they leave, I have to go around and make sure that everything works! and my cat comes out of her hiding place as soon as they go out the door!

I love them all and love to have them here, but I'm also glad that some else has them full-time!

Hello Berona - is it raining where you are? It's horrible here:-(

I guess that's why we have our children young and not now. I love having the grandchildren around but am generally exhausted by the time they go. One thing I've learnt is not to give them stickers. I find them stuck in the strangest places including the shower screen and the toilet cistern:-))

There was about 40-45 years between the two families living there. My mother's side weren't living there in the 1911 census and I think my uncle bought the house in the early 1950's.

Yes, Sue, it is raining at the moment. I had to look out onto the pavers to see it, it's so light. Can't see it coming down, just as it lands. Again, I could walk in it without an umbrella - but I'm not going anywhere. I'm going through my CD's and DVD's, I hadn't realised how many I had collected until I tried to tidy the cupboard. I think it's a good day for doing something like that!

Good morning thread.
i am sorry I disappeared so abruptly last night, I was just so tired that , I needed to put my head down straight away.

The house address was interesting Sue, I had a similar thing on OH's tree. OH's mother died when he was just starting secondary school, he had a best friend at school and spent most of his time with his friends family. I think he just about lived there,I visited them a few times when we were engaged. I recently bought a copy of OH's parents marriage certificate and strangely, his father had been a lodger in the very same house at the time of his wedding. I know that he had come to the town to work after he left university. OH was amazed because his father must have collected him form the house so many times, yet he never once mentioned that he had once lived there, this would have been long before his friendless family bought it.

Tec, what a coincidence, my sister lives 15 miles north of Shrewsbury and obviously we visit often. We walk along the canal sometimes, it must be very close to where your daughter lives

Berona

Berona Report 4 Oct 2010 10:22

Well, hello Linda. You have probably gone again by now. I just came in to roam through the threads and found that you had been here.

We ended up having a nice sunny day here, after light rain early this morning. It was also a holiday. Labor Day - whatever that means. Dating back to when Unions had a lot of control. One day per year was a holiday for their "picnic day" and I vaguely remember companies actually arranging big picnics. Nothing like that happens these days, but the holiday stays. I've noticed that the Poms refer to all holidays as 'bank holiday'. We call them 'public holidays'. We have one "Bank holiday" first monday in August. It is not a public holiday because it only applies to the finance business. Banks, Insurance Cos., Finance Cos., Oil Cos have that one off in addition to Labor Day. I remember when I was a child - the Unions used to have a parade with fancy floats on Labor Day. These days, our only parade like that is our Gay and Lesbian Mardigras! That seems to be getting bigger every year.
