I thought that's what you meant Linda - but you still got my hopes up a little ت

Sandie - I have two little cherubs from my maternal grandparents wedding cake. One is broken but like you I wouldn't part with them.

I wouldn't need six hours Tec

OH only takes a passing interest in the family tree, only his side of course. He has trailed around graveyards and been to records offices with me, but he never looks at it on the computer

Everyone's typing together!! I can't keep up.

Hello Tec - I would be happy to take up your challenge. Like Linda I wouldn't need 6 hours but I guess we need to stop for a cuppa? Will you be joining us to carry our shopping or do you have that sorted too.

Hi Tec and Sue~~~

Tec, conditions accepted ..wouldn't take me 6 hrs:)..lol.
I'll look out for that programme.
Did you watch the Coal House ?( think that's what it was called ) from Blaenavon, just a few miles from me ,there were 2 series.

Thanks Sue, nice to be back:)

I do think Tec is being a bit miserly. So far it is just me, Sue, Berona and Sandie for the shopping. That is only 40K, not much out of 2.4 million

Hello everyone ~~~~~

Sandie and Tec ....the slate programme sounds interesting and I watched the coal mining family ones with much interest ( as I have Welsh
Miners in my tree ) .

Tec....I'd buy Krugerrands with the money.....lol

It is lovely to have things that belonged to the ancestors , I'm rather lucky in that respect as my family seem to have been " hoarders " . One of my prized possessions is a battered chest of drawers that originally belonged to my G.G.Grandparents . It is in my " craft room " now and stuffed full of wool and fabric etc .....it's not much to look at , being rather plain but I think it's beautiful : ))

Hello Amanda.
I don't have anything from my grandparents, my mums were dead long before I was born. My grandmother on my fathers side lived until my mid twenties, but I don't have anything of hers

edit, yes I do, I have her last pair of glasses which my father kept

Surprise, surprise! I'm here, and early too. Only because I have to get my car in for a service at 8:30 so I'm not staying. The only way I managed to wake early, was in trying to stay awake all night! I kept dozing and although I set my alarm very loud - still didn't hear it = and I think I have set it for pm instead of am. (That would be typical of me). Anyway, must go. Dtr is meeting me at the mechanic's to bring me home. I'll see you when I return.

Hi Amanda - lovely to see you.

I don't have anything as my parents left everything behind when we came to Aus. My uncle near Leeds has my grandparent's sideboard. Not a pretty piece of furniture but I couldn't stop touching it when we visited. I do have loads of photos but they have been passed on to me by family who've I've contacted over recent times.

Hello LInda......I don't have much from my Dads side ( just a couple of my Nans paintings and one of her broaches ) but my Mum was an only child and her father ( who died before I was born ) was a collector of all sorts . Luckily Nan had kept lots of stuff ( the things she got rid off such as his diaries that he had kept since he was nine make me want to weep ) .... but I still feel blessed to have the bit's and pieces that I do have .

Hi Amanda~~

I only knew my maternal grandfather, gramps, he died when I was5 but I do remember him well, and my paternal grandmother who died when I was 16.

Dad inherited all of his mothers chattels ( as they were called in the will), and mum had a share and most of gramps stuff especially furniture as she was the only sibling living in the same village.
Gramps had given me the little China dog before he died which makes it even more precious:))

I have 2 shirts to iron, for my men for tomorrow, back in a bit .

Hello Sue : ))

That's sad , that your parents had to leave so much behind when they made their big move . Actually that's another reason I have inherited the things I have I suppose because my Grandfathers only brother had emigrated to Canada , when their mother passed away my Grandfather got all her belongings .....now she ( Mary Ann ) really WAS a hoarder of the highest order.....lol.....my Mum used to tell me wonderful tales of her Grans house and it's contents ....lol

It is a shame that we don't appreciate things at the time Amanda.
I have made sure that I have kept things from my parents such as samples of their writing. we have the advantage these days of having videos of course

You cheeky madams :))

I;m not carrying the shopping - but I'm not a cheap skate, so each one will have a chauffeur driven limo for the day - so you can't buy more than would fit in a limo.

Yes Sandie, and Amanda, I did watch the Coal House series, it was good.

How can you spend £10,000 in just six hours - I couldn't.

Good Morning Berona.

The only furniture I have from OH's side of the family is a grand father clock, it originally belonged to his great grandparents and for many years stood in a pub which they ran.
