Sleep well Perse, The post has just arrived and my renewal form is there,so we will be able to get both licences done at the same time. That is good because the post office in this town doesn't do them and I would have had to make another trip to the larger town to get mine done.

Hello to anyone around.
It's really warm here today in the Costa Del Merioneth - 21/22 C, and sunny. I should be in the garden, but instead I'm sanding paintwork down grrrr.
Hope everyone is well today.
Tec.

Hi Tec~~~
How are you today ? Whatever you are doing the warmer weather makes you feel better I find:) It's quite warm here but it's a bit misty too.
More decorating ? I'm going to have to go thro that regime soon in the bathroom, we are retaining what was our airing cupboard, still isreally cos hubby's put a towel rad in there when we took the old boiler out. But all the paint work, not a lot fortunately has to be done and I want a new panelled door on it ( it's on order ) to match the bathroom door and all the other doors that lead off the hallway.
What's the saying.. 'You can't make an omelette without cracking a few eggs'... What ever you are doing will be worth it when you do it properly, mil never sanded her paintwork, just painted over !!
Speak later:) Sandie.x

I made sure the appointment was correct this time Sandie!!!
It was only to get a photo of the back of his eye taken in preparation for the check up in February. Why they couldn't do it at the same time as the last appointment, I have no idea. No wonder the NHS costs so much money. OH is always fuming after outpatient appointments because of all the nurses standing around chatting doing nothing. The inefficiency is breath taking. Contrast that to the wards where they are run off their feet.
It is warm today, 16 degrees according to the car thermometer, but it is grey and drizzly, not a nice day at all.
We had a nice lunch and made another visit to B&Q to buy another low energy fluorescent light fitting for the garage. We just had two single bulbs in there and after I got the new freezer, it was difficult to see inside because it is tucked away in the corner and the door opens against the light. He bought two fluorescent lights earlier this week and replaced one of the ordinary bulbs with one and put the other near the freezer. Luckily the way the cables run, it made it an easy job. I don't know why he didn't buy another one while he was on, but it looks silly with an odd bulb, so he is completing the job today. It is loads better now and I can see in the freezer now.

HI everyone,
It has been nice and sunny here today, been back to Dr's as she wanted to see me as a follow up appointment from 2wks ago. Walked from work to Dr's surgery ( about half a mile ) half way there I was limping with the pain in my leg Ouch so when I got home I went to bed for a lie down and feel much better now.
Berona by the time I got to bed it was 2am so only had 31/2 hrs sleep hense why I had a sleep after Dr's visit.
Linda hope the appointment was the right day/time and that all went well. Wasn't that lucky that the form arrived in the post before you left the house.
Tec you seem to be having much the same weather as myself, pity you are not in the garden but I suppose OH is happier that you are doing work in the house.
Perse doesn't it just annoy you when you ring them and their phone ring's elsewhere, have you been practicing your handstand's for later to read Sue's post lol.
Sandie hope your feeling better and not to down and fed up now hun, I often get day's like that mainly about my flat as I hate it after once having a house and garden it feel's like the wall's are closeing in on me.
~~~~~~~~~to carole, Pat, Amanda, Janet, Pamela, Patricia and Colin.
see you all later
I am glad that you are feeling better after your nap Diane.
I am feeling feeling virtuous because as well as boring housework, I have polished all the lounge furniture with real wax polish. It looks lovely and smells nice as well.
While I was doing the grandfather clock, I was thinking about all the generations of OH's family who must have polished it before me. It was made by a clockmaker called Sherwood Lyon who was in Baxtergate in Doncaster. he was there in a trade directory in 1834 until he died sometime between 1851 and 1861. We had someone look at the clock a few years ago and he said that the movement is much older than that. The case is pretty ropey, it has been hacked about over the years as it has needed repairs. It belonged to OH's great grandfather and was in a pub in Yorkshire for a very long time. It was passed down to the oldest daughter, (OH's grandmother was one of the younger daughters)she in turn passed it onto her daughter. She was a spinster and we used to go and visit her from time to time. when she died in 1981,she left it to us in her will This spinster lady had worked in the family pub all of her life and when her generation retired, the pub was sold and she moved into a little bungalow. Unfortunately, the ceilings were so low that she removed the top from the clock to get it in. I guess she through it away, we didn't get it. it can't be worth much, but we want to try and keep it in the family,though I don't think either of the children want it.
Good morning everyone:-))
I won't write upside-down today. I know you find it annoying when I'm so clever but I can't help it - I've always been clever:-))
That's a really interesting story about your grandfather clock Linda. Have you written out the history of it so that when your family take it to an Antiques Roadshow they can talk about it.
Fancy having to sand down paintwork on a lovely warm day, Tec. My OH absolutely hates any preparation to painting but maintains that it has to be done or he'd be painting more often.
Glad you're ok Diane but I hope that you are having something done about the pain you're in.
Sandie - are you getting fed up with the bathroom renovations yet?
Hi Linda well done on polishing all the wood furniture with wax polish ( hard work ) but well worth it and yes the smell of freshly polished furniture you can't beat it. When I clean employer's mum's bedroom and polish with real wax instead of spray she alway's comment's the next day and how nice it was to sleep in the room and say's she sleep's better. How nice to have the clock as a family airloom, it is a pity so many people had to cut grandfather clock's down to fit into smaller houses and then not to keep the piece they cut off, it wasn't just done to clock's was it. People have done it to sideboard's, wardrobe's,welsh dresser's and bookcases. How is your cold hope it is much better.
Good morning Diane and good evening Sue.
I can't win, I was so pleased with myself, then OH said he doesn't like the small of the wax.
I don't think the clock is worth taking to the Antiques Road Show Sue. I have printed out the censuses for the makers family and put them on top of the clock.
It has been a really gloomy day here, not sunny at all, hence the housework to keep me occupied
Good Evening/Morning.
Diane it is good to see you back - hope the visit to the doc's was worthwhile, and I'm sorry your hip is still giving you trouble. We had a very hot day, it was 22 C - 71 F this afternoon. Still very windy, but even that was warm. The hills and mountains were shrouded in a pink mist, and put me in mind of a Turner painting - very surreal.
Linda your old grandfather clock sounds interesting - I think you said once it needs repairing though. I have found a clock repairer not too far away. I have a wall clock with him at the moment. He works from his house, and it's a magical place to visit. He has about 50 clocks of all sorts ticking away. I have a lovely old Westminster Chiming mantle clock to take in for repair when I collect the wall clock.
Sandie I'm sure your bathroom will be spendid when it's finished. I completely refurbished ours last year and it looks good.
Ah, Tec has been let out.
It does need sorting out Tec, but we can't find any one nearby to do it. The old man who had it on his list has sadly died
Hello Diane and Linda.
It's good morning here Linda and night time where you are - isn't it?
My mum uses a lavender scented furniture wax and it smells lovely. It was a job my father loved to do. I well remember the look of horror on my parents' faces when my boys raced their matchbox cars along their beautiful dining room table. It took me ages to wax the marks off.
We're babysitting overnight as my daughter and her fiance are going to a 70th birthday party in Sydney and staying overnight. The upside of my daughter working for so long in hospitality is that she has connections in Sydney and can get a room for a cut price and often at short notice.
The children are so much easier to look after now they are older and can keep themselves occupied. They all love card making so I'll take some bits and pieces down for them. They eat and sleep well so no problems there. Hope I'm not jinxing myself:-))
Linda - If you Google Clock Repairs, there might be someone near you, or Yellow Pages. I'm sure there must be one lurking in Yorkshire somewhere.
