Hello anyone looking in:-))

We had a great time looking after the children - they were so good. But as Linda predicted we were glad to get home. I know why we have our children when we're younger:-))

The weather here has been a mixture of warm, sunny and breezy to cool, overcast and windy. That's spring - just can't make up it's mind what it wants.

It took awhile to catch up on the posts but I enjoyed your chat. Enjoy your Sunday Brits and a good afternoon and evening to our Aussies:-))

And a good evening from the Kiwi.

We have been out with the family today and tomorrow I am working.
I have really got so used to not working, I am not looking forward to it. I have now got it down to once ever couple of months but could do without it altogether.

Working? What is working? I seem to vaguely remember the word from the past.

It has been a glorious day here. We went to the allotment and I picked the last of the apples amongst other things.

I also sold my old freezer on Ebay for a very good price, which is good since I nearly gave it away for free on freecycle

Hello everyone , I haven't been about for a few days as there has been a " sicky bug " going through the family and I've been off soothing troubled brows . Hopefully it's run it's course now .

It was a glorious day here today ( one of those ones that is borrowed from the Summer ) , OH and I spent the day cleaning out the Greenhouse and then he pressure washed all the paving slabs / garden path etc .

There has been a constant trail of daughters and son ( with their respective families ) in and out all day , so I'm really surprised that we managed to finish the garden tasks......lol

I hope everyone on this thread is / has had a good day .

Sue ..... I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed your baby sitting duties and that you feel nicely rested today : ))

Linda ....well done with selling your old freezer .

Hello - I'm up early so I don't really expect many people on here just yet.

Amanda - I hope the bug has been banished from the family. When do we start pacing? The baby must be due anytime now.

Good morning Sue ...my , you are an early bird today : ))

Baby is due in a weeks time , poor Charlotte ( Mum to be ) is getting well and truly fed up with lugging her great big tum about . They got the nursery decorated last week ( the nesting ) , so really it is any day now : ))

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Oct 2010 19:41

If they are ready for the baby, then it is bound to be late Amanda
I hope that all your bugs are banished now.
Good morning Sue,i hope you are rested after your baby sitting marathon

Hi Amanda. I went to bed early and so of course I'm awake early. I can't lie in bed once I'm awake which is a nuisance in winter.

I feel for Charlotte - hopefully not long to go now.

It was good that you got some jobs done in the garden. It'll be settling down now for the colder months when ours is waking up. Don't tell the others but I bought another orchid yesterday (Sunday) at a market just around the corner from my daughter's house. I didn't mean to but it was just sitting there with gorgeous purple flowers - the price was right so what could I do:-))

Amanda2003 Report 10 Oct 2010 19:57

Thank you Sue and Linda ....yes , hopefully the bugs are banished from stomachs and the Greenhouse ....lol

Sue ....your Orchid sounds lovely . I don't seem to be able to look after them in a manner to which they are accustomed , thus they always die on me : ((

My garden is winding down but I'm waiting for the Autumn colours and my Roses are blooming now better than they did in the Summer ...lol

I do hope that Baby arrives on or even better before her due date , it's no fun when you go a week or so over : (

SueMaid Report 10 Oct 2010 20:15

I was late with my 3 Amanda - they just wouldn't move lol

I don't do anything special with the orchids - they just seem to grow here with the minimum of effort. They are very expensive normally but reasonably priced at some markets.

A funny story. The children a few doors up from us decided to set up a flower stall on Saturday. They had a sign and a little table with bunches of lavender and some single blooms such as geranium and daisies. The young girl (about 8) told me that she would make up a bunch for me if I didn't like the lavender. All the flowers were wilted as they didn't have them in water but I bought a bunch of lavender for 50c or about 25p. They told me they were raising money for "poor" people. Good for them:-))

lol Sue, when you said daisies, I thought you meant the tiny common weeds we get in this country

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 10 Oct 2010 20:24

That's a sweet tale Sue ....bless them : ))

Our kiddies sometimes used to set up a " stall " out the front of or house and sell Rhubarb ( or what ever we had an abundance of from the allottment ) , they where rather good at it .....lol

SueMaid Report 10 Oct 2010 20:28

My boys would go car washing to make a bit of money. I was talking to a man around the corner from us who said he had to rewash the car everytime but he thought he should encourage children to be enterprising so he let them wash the car ever Saturday. They would divide the money and buy football cards:-))

Amanda2003 Report 10 Oct 2010 20:34

LOL Sue .... well he was a kindly chap then ....lol

OH let a couple of lads wash our car once ( same sort of sentiment behind it ) , we thought they had done a good job until we went and looked properly ....that's when we discovered they had only washed the side we could see from the window ! ......lol

SueMaid Report 10 Oct 2010 20:42

Very clever:-)) Apparently our boys would leave soap streaks. Their dad showed them how to do it properly but the novelty wore off.

Today I'm off to a luncheon as it's Breast Cancer Month in Aus. and the local support group have their Celebration for Life do. It's not a huge affair but still nice to catch up with people. On Friday is the University do where I will see my photo for the first time - I'm very nervous:-(

Another posh do Sue? You must have an extensive wardrobe to cope with all your lunches.

I am sure the photo will be lovely, how could it be otherwise - crawl, crawl
