From the direction of the trail, it came from the direction of the French doors, but they haven't been open, so I don't know how it got in. The back of the house looks amazing in the sun, it is covered in silver trails going up two stories all the way to the roof. I wonder where they all go when they get up there. The loft is probably full of them and is going to cave in at any moment

Bye Sue - Enjoy your day, and your lunch.

Linda I've never known slugs go up the wall of a house - what's growing in the loft to attract them I wonder?

Well I'm very tired, so off to bed now.
Enjoy your day Berona,
Sleep well Linda, Amanda, Diane, Sandie,

Goodnight,
Tec.

Diane .... your story sounds very complicated indeed , I hope you have found the ight branch of your tree , it is a strange hobby isn't it ....lol

I shall be going off to bed now as it's that shopping day again in the morning and I need my bed after all that shifting about in the greenhouse earlier , my tooth isn't hurting but everything else is .....lol

Good day and Goodnight to all .

Diane - I can only imagine the work you have. It is hard enough at times for anyone researching a family that only married once. People who re-married, or adopted, or de-facto'd, make it a lot harder for research, but of course, they wouldn't know that we would be doing that, would they?

I felt I was going around in circles for a while, finding my immigrant gr/gr grandfather's wife buried elsewhere, until I learned that he lost his wife when he was 52 and at 57, married a widow. He was only married a few months when he died and was buried with his first wife and the other was buried with her first husband. Quite straight forward, really, but not when you don't know beforehand.

Good night Tec and Amanda have a restfull sleep.

Hi and bye Sandie, sorry I missed you there hun speak to you soon, good night and sweet dream's.

Berona sorry I never said good morning to you

Yes tracking family down can be mind boggling at time's, my Birth parent's were both married to other partner's,my father and his wife had 5 children when I was born,my mother and her husband had 1 child when I was born, when I was born my dad, my mother and my dad's wife decided the best solution was for my dad and his wife to adopt me. My mother's husband then left with their son and emigrated to Australia. Dad and his wife then adopted me leaving my mum on her own.
Arn't family's a pain when it come's to tracing them especially when you have parent's like mine who complicate thing's lol.

Berona Report 10 Oct 2010 23:53

While on the subject of difficulty researching... some nice member of GR sent me a full family tree of my gr/gr/gr grandmother's family back to the 16th century. I was busy with the husband's tree as it was my own birthname.

I eventually began to go through it, and found that there are records for her father, showing two wives, married at around the same time, and two families of children born concurrently. Although I have been able to work out which is the right one for MY tree, I ended up thinking that there must have been a relative (perhaps cousin) with the same name but no record of his birth, only a marriage.
I have been unable to go any further as I can't find any records.

However, I recently read on these threads, that it was not uncommon for men to commit bigamy in those days and keeping the families separated, they were able to get away with it. So, that's another one to consider!

Diane

Diane Report 11 Oct 2010 00:00

Berona it is very likely you have a bigamist there by the sound's of it, if the name is one of the common one's like Jones in wales then you could be looking at different people.

Looks like it Diane. Not a common name (Phelps) but I feel that I have the right wife and there are records of two distinct families. I would like to try to work it out but I think it would send me crazy.

Hey! it's past midnight where you are!!!!

Persephone

Persephone Report 11 Oct 2010 09:23

Evening.... well I think the last odd sunny day and the warmth we have been feeling must have been an apparition. It has been freezing here today, wet and windy as well. One of our North Island roads that often gets closed in the winter was closed for part of the day whilst they cleared the snow. The little lambs were going maaaaamie it is cold.

We have lots of dandelions, I cleared them all but gave up as had them blowing at me from both sides and thought one day there is going to be a massive big clean up. I keep them deheaded but that is about it. My father would be very cross with that and the kikuyu (it was already here on this property and I hate it). As dad got older we had to get a mowing company to do his lawn and so the dandelions returned and he would wander around the lawn knocking the flowers flying with his walking stick.

I have been watching TV tonight showed this young mother who had twin boys and then about two to three years later had twin boys and now two years later has had twin boys. She reckons she would give it another go...
she doesn't mind if she has twins again.

cheers Persey who got all her work done today.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Oct 2010 09:55

Well done persey for getting your work done, you can have a gold star.
I don't know how people cope with twins, looking after one baby was bad enough

I though it was supposed to be spring down under. It is a lovely sunny morning here, a bit crisp at the moment, but it will be nice once it warms up a bit.

Berona

Berona Report 11 Oct 2010 10:50

It IS spring in our part of downunder, Linda. Persy is across the water and in the next time zone to us, so she doesn't necessarily have the same weather as we do.
On the other hand, I believe it is flooding in parts of Queensland and NSW and Victoria are straight south of Qld, but we all have different weather. We have had a few showers this past few days, but quite pleasant - and not enough rain to help anything.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Oct 2010 11:15

No, I can't cope with that Berona. Living in a little country,I can't think of you down unders being so far from each other. I just think of you in one little area, my brain is getting on you know
