Goodnight Diane - where are you off to now? Don't you know it's heading up to midnight again?

What are we going to do with this girl?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 11 Oct 2010 23:17

Persey - he didn't know what he wanted to do when he was at school and has a succession of jobs that were going nowhere. After the last job disappeared he decided to do what he's been thinking about for the last few years. He just needed the push to give up full time work. Not easy at his age - 29. Still young enough of course but still a huge decision.

He's actually going to do biology. He will then stream into environmental science which will open many doors for him.

I wish him well Sue.

I think my SIL got lucky marrying my youngest, she gave him the opportunity to study what he wanted to do whilst she brought home the bacon doing the job she always wanted to do.

Sorri mentioned food again there...

Persey

Edit: time to go and get things done nite Brits and have a lovely day Janet, Berona, Carole, Colin, Pam & our Sue.

"Home is where the heart is" or "Life is what you make of it" could apply here.
I have been around a lot too, and where I am now could be termed a 'concrete jungle' - just houses and more houses - but all of my children can reach me within a half-hour - so I'm happiest here.
I have seen many places which make me feel I would like to live there, but there is always something I wouldn't like about them - whether it's the weather, or the wind, or snow, or fear of fires, flood, too crowded, too lonely, there always seems to be a minus for all the pluses. We can't have everything - so it's a matter of which 'suits' us best.

Good morning thread,
Home is indeed where the heart is Berona and it is nice to be close to family. Sadly my two are now at the other end of the country, they prefer the north, but need to be where the work is.

It is another nice day here, autumnal but nice. We are going out for lunch and in search of new bedroom furniture. I still think the stuff we have is fine, but OH will not be thwarted. We have already looked, but the width of the chests of drawers is proving to be problematic. We brought the current ones from our previous house and they fitted perfectly, but the new ones we have looked at are a few inches deeper and would stick out too far.

Berona

Berona Report 12 Oct 2010 10:42

Hi Linda, Would it be possible for you to have the chest of drawers made to your measurements? I have had that done in the past, and it didn't cost any more than the ready made ones on show in the store. We had to wait a few weeks for them, but it was worth it.

1am here and just off to bed.
Been watching live coverage of the Rugby 7s and NZ got the gold but those Aussies put up a good fight, I actually thought they would win.

I stayed up late the other night to watch the cycle road race and Australia took the gold with us getting the silver.

We had our bed made to fit the area in our bedroom - it is Queen width but double length (any longer and I would fall over the railing trying to get around the end of it). The chap that made it also makes mattresses to measure.

Afternoon everyone,
I'm back at work after my week-end away!
I went out last night. I haven't got a set of chest of drawers in my bedroom Just shelves and a built in wardrobe!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Oct 2010 14:44

Mission accomplished, well on the way anyway.

I had the most delicious goats cheese, mushroom and balsamic tart for lunch. See Perse I can talk about food as well.

We have also ordered two chests of drawers and a bed side cabinet. We found somewhere which has them made fairly locally,so we could specify what we wanted. The colour they had in the showroom is a bit light for what we want so they are going to make some small samples of wood with darker stains on them,so we can choose the one we want. It will take five or six weeks to have them made, but there is no rush.

It is a glorious afternoon here. i went out wearing a fleece top, but i have had to change because I was too hot.

I have also been to the supermarket, as usual, they didn't have all the things I wanted in stock. I hate T**sco, but unfortunately have no other choice without travelling.

I need drawers Pat, to hide the clutter. One of the new ones is much longer than the current one,so OH will have more space and I can reclaim an extra drawer in the set I use.

Afternoon everyone~~

The sun we were promised has just arrived after a very cloudy cold morning.
It's still very cool.. well cold ! and windy.

Good that you have your bedroom cabinets sorted, Linda:)
Your hubby sounds a bit like mine.lol
There's nothing wrong with the bathroom, but he wants to alter it completely.
I don't mind the mess, but why fix something when it isn't broken !
The bathroom is now without tiles, except for the wall behind the shower over the bath, he's rigged up a shower curtain on the one wall.lol
My son and dau are horrified that they will have to go without a shower for at least a week, they weren't impressed about our stories of the tin bath in front of the open fire, or doing a complete wash down with a flannel !!
Everything purchased now for a complete refit.. except the shower unit and new blinds .

Hi Patricia~~
Don't think we've spoken before:)
I'm an honorary Aussie cos of my 2 cousins living there, but am Welsh living in Wales.
Glad you had a good weekend away, we haven't done it for a while.
My hubby's bro lives on Anglesey so we quite often have a few days away with him, not on the weekends normally as he now has a new lady friend ,after a bitter divorce and that's the time they get together mostly:)

Nite Perse~~
Sleep well.

Hi Berona~~
I'm lost with your time zones.lol
If you're still up have a good day, if sleeping...Sshhh and have a good night's sleep:))

Speak later folks~~~

Hello Linda - you're not going to be sitting with your man watching the football? Shame on you!!

I have a head cold which is making me feel achy and sniffly. Take pity on me and don't laugh - I woke up this morning and I can hardly talk:-(

It has been a very veggie day Sue, I made a very nice vegetable bake with cannelloni beans in it for dinner . it was the first time I have tried that recipe and I will definitely do it again

just send emails instead of telephoning

Sounds good Linda. Yesterday I made an Impossible Quiche. So easy and it tastes great. You just mix all the ingredients together and they seperate into pastry and egg mixture while it's cooking. The men like it and it's nice with salad.

That sounds intriguing Sue, you had better post the recipe so we can all have a go at it
