It certainly has been a long time for Charlotte, I thought I was bad enough with 24 hours with my first one. The next one was a doddle.

Sleep well Berona , I do hope I have triumphant news by 10pm .

The latest is via Charlottes Mum , they are talking about putting her on a drip after all , so lets hope that there is good news by late afternoon .

Thank you all for being here for me : ))

You are most welcome Amanda.

Rather crowded on the couch and was hoping you wouldn't mind.

Hello Amanda. I'm here pacing with you as well. Well, in my mind. I'm actually sitting at my computer but the thought's there.

Went to the doc today with a twinge in my lower right belly radiating out to my back. Most uncomfortable and especially so when doc poked fingers at it. He thinks it may be a hernia where they separate the muscle to remove appendix. That happened 40 years ago and he says as we age the muscles relax (I think he really meant 'get weaker' but was too kind to say so) and herniation is not uncommon. Heck. That's all I need. Just when I want to get out and do some weeding, too.

Got some painkillers to take so I might get some sleep tonight. Last night was not good at all. Up and down all night with the pain.

Pam.

Sorry Persey I hadn't spotted you there .
I just had to nip out to there flat and take back " Mojo " ( the puppy they got last week ) , why they had to get a pup at this point in time is beyond me , I think it was a mission of mercy and not very well thought out ! Still he is the sweetest little thing and of a " toy " verity . I've been asigned Puppy sitting duties for the day but my three Lurchers arn't to keen : (

I wish someone would phone and tell me how things are going at the hospital .

Hello Pam .....I'm glad to have your pacing company ( the more the merrier ...lol ).

Poor you ! I hope that something can be done about your Hernia , it sounds awful : ( Can they operate or does the Dr think otherwise ?

Pamela Report 15 Oct 2010 11:54

He's not sure yet. I have to go have a CT scan to try to locate what the exact problem is. All I know is it hurts like heck and even walking or taking a deep breath hurts. Gotta say, though; since I took the painkillers it has eased off.

I was getting concerned it may be something to do with my right ovary. But he says no - it's in the wrong location of that.

Hope my ovary hasn't gone the same direction as the upper levels. I could be in a spot of bother. haha.

Sorry it took me a little while to get back to you. I was checking up on the cairns.com.au site to see what it was like. I go and recommend it to people and haven't looked at it myself.

It's true to what it's like up here.

I live on the edge of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Rainforest not far from the Barron Falls. During the wet season you can hear the falls thundering from my upstairs balcony. Quite spectacular when in full voice.

Hello Pam .....well I hope the CT scan picks up whatever it is , I guess if it an ovary thing that will show up on the scan anyway , the trouble with that kind of pain is just not knowing from where it is coming .
I'm glad the painkillers are helping , you take things nice and easy .

I used to get something like that as a teenager Pam, had my appendix out when I was 9 or 10. It would be worse at night if I lay on my left side my right side would start up and then the pain would come and go. My mother told me it would be adhesions. It didn't disappear until I had my daughter several years later, maybe she moved my internal furniture and did some redecorating whilst she was in there. LOL

I have my jimjams on now Amanda and I am having a hot lemon drink. So will be tidying up some loose ends in my tree whilst I wait... or I might do a Berona and fall asleep at the computer.

Persey xx (Midnight here)

Persephone Report 15 Oct 2010 12:05

No never had it that bad Pam.... I must have had youth on my side then.
Now with not being so slender and agile and more walk into things and creak and groan I would not be so lucky.

Pamela Report 15 Oct 2010 12:05

Hey Persey, isn't that interesting. You say it's midnight there and you're in NZ aren't you? And it's noon in London. It's 9pm here.

I took my painkillers so I don't know how long I'll last. They're supposed to make me drowsy and after no sleep last night I could well fall asleep at the computer, too.

Good thing we don't have those camera thingy's that take pics of you at the computer, isn't it?

Persey, I don't think I want to go to the lengths you did to have your furniture rearranged and redecorated. Not at my age of 68. But we'll wait and see what the scan shows and then decide what's to be done. I'm hoping not surgery, that's for sure. No way I could stay here on my own after surgery and certainly not during the wet season.

Hello Persey in her jim-jams....lol

So you are 12 hours in front of us then as it is noon here ( at last I'm stating to get a perspective of our time difference ) .

I think you should do a Berona and get off to sleep , it could be some time yet before Bella puts in her appearance , I just hope poor Charlotte isn't at her wits end by now .

Pamela

Pamela Report 15 Oct 2010 12:08

I just had a horrible thought. I hope I don't have to wear one of those girdle/corset things like my mother and grandma used to wear. I'd die up here in the heat!!!!

Awful to contemplate.

Pamela

Pamela Report 15 Oct 2010 12:10

Gee I hope she isn't at her wits end, too. Has anyone told her yet that this is just the beginning? There's at least 18 years of sleepless nights ahead yet.

haha, Oh dear. I remember my mother telling me that one time when I complained that something was taking too long with one of my babies. I think it was him sleeping through the night. She told me that a full nights sleep and motherhood just don't go together. Not totally true, but close.

Amanda2003 Report 15 Oct 2010 12:14

LOL Pam ....it sounds as if your Mum knew a thing or two .

I don't think any new parents have the foggiest idea what they are letting themselves in for ...lol....bless them : )

Our youngest slept like a charm Pam... first night home put her down at 7.30pm and not a peep out of her till 8.30am. She very rarely woke during the night and when she did well you didn't mind.

Our eldest always says and then there is "my sister who could do no wrong."

With the eldest we thought okay so she wants to be awake and yelling in her cot we will get her her own bed. Yep we go to bed and she is up most of the night wandering around and playing, climbing into our bed and reading us stories. LOL

Pamela Report 15 Oct 2010 12:24

Ah Persey, that reminds me of my second son, third child. He used to sleep for only 3 yours per night and didn't want to sleep or nap during the day either. After he'd had his 3 hours he'd sit in his cot and talk to you. First of all in baby gibberish but in conversation as he got older. He still survives on little sleep. Great when he's sailing. The 4 hour watches don't bother him at all.

Pamela

Pamela Report 15 Oct 2010 12:25

Yes, Amanda. My mum had a lot of practice with 8 kids. !!!

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 15 Oct 2010 12:33

Blimey Pam , eight kids ! wow , hats off to your Mum .

I've just had a call , Charlotte is seven cm dilated now so things should be moving along fairly soon . Apparently the delivery suits are all being occupied so she is on a ward at the moment ......it all sounds very tence but she is holding up ok .

I'm niping back out to go and get the puppy back as I don't want to miss the call when it comes : )
