I use google earth and google maps with the satellite view Pam

I had a nice meal out Tec, but I am glad to take my high heels off. I have some smart evening trousers, but they are so long, I can only wear them with heels and I am not used to them these days

I use Google Earth sometimes Pam.

You haven't missed the Champers - we were all waiting for Linda to arrive as she was bringing it out of her cellar - I'll get the glasses now.

OK well if I give you my address you'd be able to look it up. You can't actually see the house because it's hidden amongst the trees but you can see the outlook. Just ignore Steptoe next doors mess. No point in saying anything to him he just makes it worse if you do. Only problem I have with a neighbour. He's a nice person other than that so I can't complain too much.

It is nicely chilled Tec, how many bottles do you think we need?

Evening and morning all

I haven't read back on the post yet so don't know what has been said but I do know that our Amanda is a nanny again.

Amanda, I know I congratulated your daughter and her partner and yourself on FB but I want to do it again on here.
Gongratulation's to you all and Welcome Bella ( big hug ) from Aunty Di xx

The reason I'm late is another member on GR sent me permission to view her Tree as she has my BM name in it, I pm'd her on a wild chance that her Eroica was my Eroica and guess what ( IT IS ) whoop whoop, so I now know what my great grandfather/ grandmother and great great grand parent's name's were.

As many as we can get! We don't get to celebrate very often, so let's make the most of it.

Tecwyn Report 15 Oct 2010 22:53

A bottle each Linda I would say lol.

It can be difficult with a neighbour like that Pam, especially if they're otherwise nice people. We had one like that once.

Hey, Diane, that is pretty exciting.

My kids don't understand how come I get so excited when I find another piece of the jigsaw. I also recall some comments in the past about what will happen to our family trees once we're no longer here because the kids aren't interested.

But then, I wasn't interested when I was their age, either. Does anyone else share that situation?

Does it need to be the best Moet, or will the supermarket stuff do?

Hello Diane, that is great news, I am really pleased for you

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 15 Oct 2010 22:57

Exactly Berona - my sentiments entirely lol.

Hi Diane, That was a stroke of luck with your GR contact, though Eroica is an unusual name isn't it.

Pamela

Sounds somewhat erotic. Any idea where the name came from?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 15 Oct 2010 23:04

Linda - I'm surprised you need ask - the people here are of impeccable taste and only the best will do, not any old rubbish.

Pam, I have a daughter who I didn't think would be interested in the family tree, but to my surprise she takes a keen interest, provided I do all the research that is. She frequently asks if I've had any new "finds" lately, so I'm happy in the knowledge that it will eventually be passed on to her.

Oh well, it was worth a try Tec, of course little Bella deserves the best, not that she can have any of course

Diane Report 15 Oct 2010 23:09

Thank's Pam, Linda and Tec

Yes it is an unusual name Tec but I think it is welsh ( well I'v alway's thought so as she is Welsh born ).
She let me see her tree and as you know I'm in touch with my BM half brother and his name my grandfather's and his mother's name's were all in this person's tree, as well as my grandfather's sister's name, so I know it is the same relative as mine.

Sue glad your day went well hun and you had a nice time.

Linda I hope you enjoyed your meal hun.

Diane - that's great you have found more ancestors.

My youngest son has been 'afraid' of computers but now, something new has been introduced at his work and the techos set up a profile for him and are teaching him to use it. He sent me an email and I replied - OK, but then I sent him one new message and it was returned. It seems that they didn't ask him to confirm the spelling of his name and they set it up with the wrong vowel in it. When he told them, they brushed it off and told him to use THEIR spelling.
How lazy can you be? It's nothing for them to change his username. They shouldn't have 'assumed' the spelling of a name which I have found in my research, has fourteen different ways of spelling it (that's so far).

What I don't understand is why is it that when I am looking for a new ancestor, I always seem to look for at least ten of them before getting the right spelling? Why can't I get the right one first off?

Diane

Diane Report 15 Oct 2010 23:12

Pam I can only guess that it is a Welsh name as I said in my last post.
She later had another daughter and her name is Erika.

Hello Linda , Diane and Pam .

Thank you all for the congratulations , I think I'm getting a bit addled with all the champagne ......lol .....and slurping copious amounts of Rum isn't really helping the situation but it is a celebration after all : ))

Well done on your tree find Diane .

Pam , I'm glad to hear you got a nice sleep and I hope the pain eases a bit more .

Linda I don't mind if the champers is posh or not , I'd drink dish water and grin at the moment : ))) lol

Sue , your son sounds lovely , I'm glad Bella's birth has bought back happy tender memories for some .

Diane - Just Googled "Eroica" apparently it is an Italian name meaning "Heroic" and used by the old composers in several symphonies.
