Good night Tec. Pleasant dreams to you and the duchess.
You have been surrounded by us clucky old hens this time, but that always happens when a new baby arrives.
I suppose you are glad to be able to go to bed and have a good rest - and not be one of those new parents who walk the floor? That's something the young ones are welcome to - I'm not envious of that part at all!!

On lappy for while,
Linda, ineresting research about new dads, but I could have told them about that 24 yrs ago. Hubby initially didn't want to be at the birthof our first born ,he thought he may faint and make a fool of himself, but I persuaded him, and he was brilliant. He's always been a hands on dad, and has a wonderful relationship with both dau and son, it's me that is the strict one.lol Like my dad was with my sister and myself, I always wanted him to dry me down after a bath, and rub my hair dry as mum was too rough .lol.I loved him to bits ,and still miss him:( Musn't be maudling when Amanda and family are celebrating their newborn, just think good dads and daus have a special bond. Goodnight hun Sandie.x

Don't tell Sandie but I was also up at 4am took me nearly 1/2 an hour to get GR to open onto the correct page. I was checking to see whether Bella had arrived. Something woke me ... must have been dreaming about it all.
I had the same problem with the puter when I came on again to congratulate Amanda so thought I would leave it alone and see if it felt better later. Took me 40 minutes to get to the right page and I had tried all sorts of ways to get on here.
Berona, of course they should change your son's name to the correct spelling - it is not a hard one, he should ask them how they would like to have their name spelt as 'idiots' or whatever,
Sue: What is with this 'need' to go shopping?
Stay special Auntie Linda, Auntie Diane, Uncle Tec, Auntie Pam, Auntie Janet, Auntie Carole, Auntie Sandie, Auntie Berona, Auntie Pat, Uncle Tec, Uncle Colin and dear Auntie Sue.

I'm still around Perse ,but not for long now,lol 4am your time would have been around the time Bella made her appearance..yes? Spooky :)
Shame your'e having probs with your puter, touch wood, mine is fine at the mo, as is this lappy of hubby's,but the darn thing doesnt spellcheck in GR :(
Missed the chat about Berona's son's name being spelled incorrectly! It would annoy me,dau's name is Welsh and often gets spelled wrongly. So does son's, but there are a few variations on the spelling so can't complain about that one, except about family and teachers who should know better !!
You must translate Ofa lahi atu kiate kimoutolu...............for us please,or me at least, others may know it ! I know Tec and I often greet and say goonight to each other in Welsh, but I'm sure you've sussed it by now:))
Well I must say goodnight from my end:) Have the rest of a good day:)) Take care Sandie.x

Congratulations Amanda. Thank you Persey for including me in the list of GR Aunties and Uncles. I appreciate that. I have only 3 real nieces, all adult. Only one lives in Sydney, the other two are working in Darwin, The younger one is buying an apartment there. Having been to Cairns once, I can confirm that Kuranda is lovely and the Skyrail ride stunning. The historic train trip is fascinating too. Many people do what we did- train one way, skyrail the other. I never seem to get on while everyone is chatting, and it takes me quite some time to catch up with the last day or two posts. Re computers, I was dragged kicking and screaming into the computer age in the mid eighties when I was in my late 30s. I have been a late adopter. I am not on facebook, but thinking about joining, if only to see all those photos and to show some of my own. How do you find GR friends when you don't know their real name- send a PM through GR and ask? Topsiders, have a good Saturday when you get up and Aussies hope Sunday is kinder than today. Cold, windy and flooding rains in parts of the Eastern states. Snow in October! And as far north as Guyra (north of Armidale NSW). Stay good Colin

Hello Colin, nice to see you again. It has been colder to-day, hasn't it? That wind isn't very nice, although I can't complain, I am fairly protected here, and we haven't had the rain like other parts of the state have had it. I've only known of a couple of light showers overnight during the week. Apparently, it's flooding down near the border - Wagga, Albury way. (I suppose I should say Wagga Wagga so the Brits will have a laugh).
My son is 44 and although he bought a computer, he lets his partner do everything on it. His brothers both got into computers soon after their apprenticeships finished, but he has had no need for them and has got behind in that respect. My dtr passed his address to me and I was too busy watching what came after the "@" and didn't notice the spelling of his name, so if I didn't notice his name spelled incorrectly (it's mine too), there will be others who miss it.
You can register with Facebook - it's free. There is talk of charging but it may not happen. You put as much (or as little) info in it and you set your security settings. To find others, you can type their name in and it could take you to their Profile page. You then need to follow the prompts to request this person to be your 'friend'. Once they accept, you can then see more of their pages, photos, their friends, according to how their security settings are set - and you can talk to them. There is only room for a comment, but you can send pm's. Sometimes you know they are there but you can't find them. Best to pm them as you suggested - or get them to find you. They will then request you to be their 'friend'.. or if you can see them on another person's list of friends, you can click on their name.
I thought it was great looking at the faces of these people I have known (some for more than a year now) - and to see the families. We can open up a bit more because it is only accessible to people who can see that profile. So if you decide to join and want any help, let me know if I can help you.

Thank you Berona, The only problem I see is that you register under your own name, and I have a fairly unusual surname (there are about 20 of us in NSW, about 12 in Sydney). Women of course can use their birth name. I suppose I could use my surname but with my childhood nickname. Funny talking about your son and his computer resistance. My boss who is about the same age as your brother was talking to his brother who is just learning. My boss is Mark and his email is mark@"ourcompanyname".com.au. The problems the brother was having with that! Even the "mark" bit. Then maybe we should not laugh. There is always someone cleverer than us. Colin

Where I worked we all had our christian name followed by our surname initial and then the company name. Then along came this IT chap and anyone new he would make them have their christian name initial followed by surname etc. My friend from work she hated it. One chap that joined the company - his name was Tony Wilson so was given twilson@etc. My friend and I always called Tony, Twilson after that.
Love Perse
My signing off Sandie was in Tongan and means: Much love to you guys.

Linda - our weather hasn't been as bad as some areas. I guess I shouldn't complain when there is flooding in parts of NSW and Queensland.
Sorry Diane - didn't mean to pass on the cold:-(
Amanda - your little Bella is so lovely. You're a very lucky Nanny.
