Yes Berona as you say quite a tribe, unfortunately I don't see all of them ( long story ) so I put money away for the one's I don't see to give to them when they are older.

Sandie I don't think I do anymore than anyone else, most of you have OH's to look after and bigger home's to clean, though I must say mine is neglected a lot of the time's in favour of the time I spend at work. Housework can wait employer's need's can't.

If your eldest g'dau is 17 you must be at least the same age as me, I guess!
I packed in work a few yrs ago, very disappointed with how things were going. I can't collect my works pension until I am 60,not entitled to a state one as I choose not to pay a 'full national insurance contribution'.

I don't envy you working 7 days a week ( not nosing ) I' like the me time after working full time for 30 odd yrs with 2 children.

Pam - I often bring my breakfast to the computer and eat it as I check over all the posts made since I was last here - then I join in until they all go. I really don't do much and I would be happy to just do what I can, when I can. Living alone doesn't cause anything to be out of place and not much dust gets in! However, my dtr came yesterday and brought her own bucket, mop and vacuum cleaner and went through whilst I sat and watched her. She knows I can do that myself and I have a steam mop and all the other things - but she likes to use her own. There's no stopping her! So all I have to do is get my own food, dust and make my bed - doesn't take long (well, sometimes I have to do it in stages, but I get there).
She even does my garden for me. I'm spoiled.

Berona
You are spoiled, but it's lovely for your dau to do that for you.
Mine occasionally has a grizzle and does a spring clean in the kitchen, what she doesn't realise that most of the mess is hers, so I let her get on with it.lol
We are a family of 4and it is like a cafe here everyone eating different things at diiferent times !!
Dau wouldn't dream of doing the garden, she's scared of anything crawly!
when she was in Uni for 3 yrs she didn't do any washing cos their garden was overgrown and she was frightened to go out into it.She does her washing now she's back at home and hangs it out,lol
Our garden is large and by no means overgrown.

Wow !

Where has everyone been all day.

My excuse is morning shopping, 2 bargains.. a pair of half price Clarkes casual shoes for hubby, down to £45 and a casual waterproof /breathable jacket in French navy for me £35..Gelert a Welsh brand, excellent quality Tec may know of it.

This afternoon I attended a funeral of a very close friend's mum.
They had coffee together in the morning she went home had a stroke and was dead within 4 hours ! :((( So very very sad.
It was such a moving ceremony I cried all the way thro it, and totally lost it when they played CD that her husband chose ...You are the wind beneath my wings.................
May not be on be later...byeee

I am glad that your shopping went well Sandie, a woman after my own heart.
It is sad when you lose people, but if she had a bad stroke, it is better to go as she did. My uncle had one and lived for another year, but he was in a terrible way

Good evening Tec.

I was hither and thither this morning including the supermarket and mainly lugging heavy boxes around the tourist office this afternoon.

My gripe for the day is Tesco's as usual. They cut and wrap the cheese on the premises, but only do tiny bits. I don't want little bits, they dry out and are impossible to grate, so buying two small wedges is no good. Trying to explain that to the people behind the counter is no good, they have strange vacant eyes before you even start talking to them

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Oct 2010 20:52

Good Evening Sandie,
Good Evening Linda,

Sounds like a good shopping trip Sandie - as we lack sensible shops here I never find bargains.

Linda, I should like to see you "hither and thither" it conjures up a comical vision :)).......What do they keep in the heavy boxes at the tourist office? awkward tourists?
Took OHs leg to the clinic this afternoon - then did the Co-op, such excitement on a Monday afternoon is bad for me I think.
Those people behind the counter with strange vacant eyes also work in the Co-op. I am apparently invisible, and those vacant eyes never seem to see me standing there waiting to be served. They fidget about behind the counter doing their own thing, like washing trays and other little duties.
The other day someone did eventually notice me and asked "Can I help you?" To which I replied " Yes - I appear to have missed the bus, do you know when the next one is due? meanwhile I'd like 8oz of that ham"
The 8oz disturbs them as they work in metric - I sense the panic.

Tec.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Oct 2010 21:01

Oh dear Tec, you shouldn't try to joke with the vacant people, they only get flustered.

The heavy boxes currently contain charity Christmas Cards, oh and some were full of new stock maps and books.

The Aussies will be pleased to know that I was ever so helpful today to a nice couple from NSW, they wrote a lovely comment in our visitors book. It won't make any difference though, the council will announce tomorrow that they are closing us down

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Oct 2010 21:26

Isn't it ridiculous to close the tourist centres in holiday areas. Our local office was so busy 'till they closed it in the middle of the season. It's bound to affect the hotels and B&Bs, especially the out of town ones. They are also closing all the public loos here - what are people supposed to do? There is a viewing spot near here with spectacular views of the bay and Snowdonia, always busy. Someone recently placed a lavatory pan complete with lid, a little piece of vinolay on the floor, and even a toilet roll, all neatly placed in the layby - notice "Council Cuts" lol.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Oct 2010 21:37

Ah, there is a money making opportunity for you, you can charge people an exorbitant rate to use your loo

Hi ~~

Hubby is pleased with his shoes,:))

I've just been for a walk around the block to see how warm my jacket is, it was starting to rain, but it is waterproof.
I only had a thinnish top on so I will need to wear something more substantial with it, it is designed to add a fleece liner .

Talking of Xmas cards ,I'm going to check how many I have, I buy them in the new yrs sales, think I have enough good quality for my usual list but always buy special ones for close family

Diane Report 18 Oct 2010 21:46

Good evening Linda and Tec

Linda are you serious when you say they are closeing you down?

Tec isn't it rediculas when they make these decision's, what will we all do when we come to your area to visit the site's, at least us on here will have you to ask to use your convienances sp .

Diane

Tecwyn Report 18 Oct 2010 21:49

There's a keen N' Westerly here, and it's quite cold too Sandie, so you would need a fleece under that jacket.

Christmas cards? who mentioned Christmas?

Tec.

Diane Report 18 Oct 2010 21:49

Hi Sandie, glad your OH like's his shoe's and that your new jacket is all you need it to be for the coming Winter and ( Snow ) .

Yes Tec ,

I agree with Liinda, having used nearly all the loos in Cornwall during my holidays there ! You could make a mint !!!!

Question..
I have resorted to dyeing my greying hair to a lighter brown, goes almost blonde when the sun gets at it !
But why do the 2 little hairs that pop up on my chin ( thank goodness for tweezers ) come out black..?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 18 Oct 2010 21:53

Hello again Sandie.

The cards we sell in the tourist office are the Cards for Good Causes scheme. The 25 major charities have formed a distribution company and 75p in every pound goes direct to the charity. The other money is the the cost of running the business. I get so annoyed when you see so called charity cards in major retailers and find out that only about 5p per pack actually goes to the charity

We do get a small percentage for selling them, last year we made £600 for the TIC, but that is selling a huge number of cards, today for instance we sold £145 worth
