Diane it is going to be minus 2 here tonight, it was incredibly cold when we were walking back

Hello Pam, sorry I didn't see that you were here

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Oct 2010 23:16

Linda you're only a strip of a girl compared to me - I can't imagine being 70 and my daughter thinks it's hysterical. My only consolation is that Cliff Richards was 70 this week, so I'm still younger than him.

He was on TV last night, they were showing photo's of him on the beach. Do you look as good as that?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 19 Oct 2010 23:21

Pam I don't think Frank Sinatra did that many concerts in the UK - my OH did see Ella Fitzgerald in concert in Liverpool a long time ago.

Berona Report 19 Oct 2010 23:23

hello/goodbye Sue. Sorry I'm late again. Didn't hear the clock radio come on because I turned it down while I was reading last night and forgot to turn it up again.

Amanda - off you go to the dentist. I'm very good at telling other people to go to the dentist but all my life, I was afraid of them. Go as soon as you can because an absess will not clear up by itself.

Diane - I don't know Liverpool even though my OH was reared there....Cottesbrook Road, to be exact.
He went back during a business trip in 1980 and was devastated to see his father's rose garden all gone and replaced with weeds and fence falling apart.
When we went on a personal trip in 1989, he wouldn't take me to see the old home because he had been so disappointed in it. We stayed with his sisters in Winsford.

Pam - when did I say 'us oldies'? was it referring to the music on 2CH? (You don't get that up where you are, do you?) If that was it, then "us oldies" is referring to those of us who were "hit parade" fanatics in the 40's, 50's and 60's. You know, the kind of schoolie/teenager who is an expert on every singer, group, band, and record of the time. Most of us have been through it.

I don't think I look as good as that, but then I don't have a stress free millionaire lifestyle either. lol.

Berona Report 19 Oct 2010 23:34

Yes Tec - it's shining. Quite a bit of blue in the sky and a promise of 22, although yesterday we were promised 21 and only got to 17. Fingers crossed.
I felt sure I would miss you to-day, Pleasant surprise! I have only read this last page so far - I'll go back and read the others when you all retire for the night.

Editted to include Linda. Hope all of you sleep well and warm.

Well Tec young man, Noswaith da:)

What have you been up to?
Read a few pages back you've been buying off the net, can be a bit iffy sometimes but if you do your research on the seller it can be very rewarding and money saving.
With the exception of the wall tiles and flooring for the bathroom , hubby's bought everything off the net.
I wanted to see the tiles and flooring for myself!!
He's more than half way on with the tiling, I'm really pleased with it :)
Have to change to the laptop ,back in a bit

Tec, I saw Frank Sinatra here in Australia. He was the headliner at a concert on the Gold Coast near Brisbane at the opening of a new Golf Resort.

He was just magic and I hadn't like him at all before that.

It was quite a bill that he was on but the other performer I really enjoyed that night was Peter Allen.

Berona, haha. Yes. I meant 2CH but someone else mentioned that person I was looking for - Bob Rogers. I remember him from the hit parades when I was young. I'm originally from Sydney. Born and bred there. Only been up here in Far North Queensland for 10 years so I'm considered to be still a newbie.

Amanda she was a lovely lady and Ken dodd had a look of his mum, she was a small woman and sweet, I was only 12yrs old so to me she was like my grandma. She liked dog's and had a poodle and another dog whch I think was some sort of bull dog type. We alway's had jam butties as when she aked us if we wanted something to eat we said yes ( a jam butty from the jam butty mine ) she would then disappear out of the kitchen and come back with a plate of jam buttie's, I guess she had made them proir to our visit and stashed them in another room lol.

I used to see 'the Allen Bros' a lot on TV before Peter became famous and I have to admit, I wasn't greatly interested. However, I feel that he left us a wonderful legacy in "I Still Call Australia Home".
