Please do excuse me if I disappear now and then. Two of my lorikeets escaped from the aviary last week. I put food out for them and I'm trying to capture them. But I don't want to scare them away. They were bred by us but aren't all that tame so won't come to me however, they are having to learn how to survive on their own in the wild which worries me. I'd hate them to get taken by a goshawk or a snake. |

Berona, he was a truly marvellous performer. So much energy. I went and saw the show Boy from Oz years ago and Tod McKenny played the part of Peter Allen. Truly, he was so much like him it was uncanny. |

Yes,Pam. Bob has had cancer for a few years now but keeps going. He was recognised in this year's Queen's Birthday honours and I believe he turned 80 around that time. |

There was just a huge crash on the roof and I thought a whole limb had come down off the raintree out the front onto the verandah roof. I went upstairs and looked out the upstairs bedroom window to check with dollar signs flashing in front of my eyes, only to find it was a small piece of a branch about 2 foot long. Gee, it made a huge noise, though. |

I didn't see the show, but I recently saw Tod in a segment of it on Danding With The Stars. |

Not sure about not being born, Berona. I just turned 68 and I do remember Bob Rogers and a lot of the people that you mentioned whose music is on 2CH. I loved that station too when I lived in Sydney. So soothing and calming after a hard day at work to listen to on the drive home. |

Thank you Berona. So it's a toasted sandwich. I gather though that it's sort of fried in a pan though is it? Rather than grilled as I would make a sandwich. |

I think the preparation of a 'butty' could vary. They were all talking on here a couple of days ago about bacon butties and there I was, (hadn't had breakfast) and drooling and the idea of a bacon butty. I was well aware that I had all the ingredients too, but I'm proud of myself - I had the breakfast dictated by my diet - fibre cereal, banana & skim milk. Doesn't that sound exciting? |

No, it's not something I already know Sandie. It's just interesting to see what things are called in different parts of the world. Here, in Aust., a sandwich is just 2 pieces of bread buttered with a filling. In the US, a sandwich is a bread roll buttered with filling as well as the 2 pieces of bread etc. We have the toaster that folds down like the lappy, as you described, as well which to me is similar to a jaffle. We have a jaffle iron when I was a kid and the only difference is the shape, and that the jaffle iron wasn't electric. You had to put it over the fire or the gas jet on the stove. Over the fire was the tastiest. Somehow the ones over the gas jet always tasted of gas to me. A toasted sandwich is just that - a sandwich made and then toasted under the grill. And, of course, the ordinary toast which is the bread put into the toaster and the butter and filling added later. Mind you the very best toast of all is the toast that is made on a long fork held up to the flames or coals of a wood fire. That's really tasty. Has to have proper butter though. Not margarine. Effects the taste. |

Berona, I love you. You really made me laugh. That thought of the bacon buttie must have stayed with you all morning. I'm sure it didn't do you any harm to have it for lunch. Just think, you could have had it for breakfast and then had the cereal, banana etc. for lunch. haha. |
