Linda,

Have you ever been sent a wrong certificate from the GRO? I am wondering, does it happen, often?
I received one today, it was the wrong one!!! same vol/page numbers, incorrect person??
I contacted them as soon as I received it, they sent me back an email stating that they apologize and they will re - issue me with the correct one.
I was very annoyed, as I'm trying to help someone find a relative.

I have had a wrong cert Carole, they insisted it was the one I had ordered, but it wasn't. Now, I always print off the full order page before I close it down. It is an annoying site because once you have placed the order, there is no "my account" section to show what you are waiting for,

The joiner has been and gone, maybe you would call him a cabinet maker, or wood worker? We have ordered some new bedroom furniture which is being made in Yorkshire. We need the wood to match the wall of fitted wardrobes which we have in there,so the joiner has done some test stains and brought them so we could agree on the one we want for the new furniture.

Thanks Linda,

We would call your joiner, a carpenter, I suppose:-)
In Yorkshire hey:-)) I bet the furniture will be awesome!!

It would make things a lot easier if that site had a "My account", maybe one day they will update their site?
I am really relieved that it was their mistake and not my own, I would have wasted my $20 :-))

Well most things are made in China these days,so it was nice to find something actually made in England. We use the term carpenter as well, I just didn't think of that when I was racking my brains for an alternative to joiner.
I guess a joiner joins bits of wood together. This one seems fairly efficient which is a refreshing change

Hi Linda and Carole - I've probably missed Colin. I never seem to be on at the same time.

I'm sorry I disappeared suddenly this morning. The phone rang and as usual I needed to follow it up. By the time I'd finished I needed to get ready to take mum to the garden centre.

We had a nice time looking at all the new plants but the mum really loved looking through the gift section as they'd just had a new shipment. I bought a little frog on a very realistic leaf that just begged to go home with me:-)) I didn't buy any plants - and you'll have to trust me on that one;-)

We trust you Sue.........
A frog on a leaf sounds different. What is it made from? I take it, that it is a garden ornament

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 21 Oct 2010 10:16

It's not really a garden ornament Linda - too small and delicate. It's made of pottery I think. It's a gum leaf with a tiny frog sitting on it and a little ladybird. Very realistic.

HI
DONT MEAN TO BUT IN
BUT I THINK ITS A MASTER CARPENTER

AND YEARS AGO IT WOULD OF BEEN
JOURNEYMAN CARPENTER
WENT WHERE THEY WERE NEEDED

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 21 Oct 2010 10:22

Hello Dizzi, luckily this carpenter didn't have to journey very far, he only lives in the next village.

If it is very realistic Sue, just remember not to spray the ladybird with insect spray They are carnivorous little beasties, good for the garden, but if you ever come across them on a beach, they don't half bite

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 21 Oct 2010 10:23

You're not butting in Dizzi. I guess we don't recognise craftsman as our ancestors did.

I've never seen ladybirds on the beach. I've noticed a lot of them so far this year.

Hi Sue

I love garden ornaments too. My favorite is a wombat, he sleeps by our front door, our dog uses him as a pillow:-)

My cactus has even more flowers today, the roses are coming on nicely too:-)

THEY HAD TO LEARN A HELL OF A LOT MORE THEN
AND DRAG THE FAMILY ALL ROUND THE COUNTRY

Carolee

Carolee Report 21 Oct 2010 10:32

Sue, I have no idea what type of rose bush it is, as it was already in the garden when we moved in.

Those cactus we have, were once a solitary cactus in a little pot. OH planted it a few years ago, since then it has multiplied and has the most amazing flower display I have ever seen. There is also a red flowering one, too:-))

They are beautiful Carole.

Dizzi - not all of them dragged their family around. I have an ancestor who visited home now and then - and left his wife with another baby to raise. When she died he remarried and fathered another two children. He was never on a census with his family.

I can't see a cactus surviving outside here Carole, they are house plants to us.

Well I must be on my way as it is mid morning and I have things to do.
See you tonight

See you later, Linda. I'm off too so see you later Carole and Dizzi.

We still use the terms Carpenter/Joiner; Carpenter/Builder and I believe they are different apprenticeships - but don't quote me on that one.
I understand they can all do any kind of carpentry, joiners concentrate on furniture and cupboards, caravan interiors, etc. where builders construct larger frameworks, and buildings.

Now, I have an apology to make. Tonight I was tidying up my collection of pm's and I found that I have not answered a few people. This shocked me, but by the dates on them, I saw that they were received when I had a lot of nerve pain and soreness since last April. I tried to keep talking on this thread, but I was very irritable for many weeks there, and I don't even remember getting some of the pm's. On the other hand, I see I have answered some and still don't remember getting them!

If I have done this to anyone reading this, I humbly apologise. My soreness is still with me, but not as intense as it was and I have learned to live with it and I know how to sit and lie down in a way that it doesn't stop me from sleeping, and I think I am back to my easy-going self. (I hope so, anyway).

I am also off shortly. I am only staying up because I want to do my blood sugar two hours after a meal. It's supposed to be done twice a week but I am not quite making that. On the other hand the readings have been good since I was put on yet another lot of tablets (metformin) about 6 weeks ago.
I rattle even more now.

Hello Colin - so you belong to the 'rattlers' club too?
Get used to it - it increases as you get older!

I'm off to bed. Nothing worth watching on TV - probably not until next Feb/March, so I go to bed and read.
