Linda - can you tell us on here what being roasted means?
We use it in a manner meaning that someone has been given a 'dressing down' - or receiving the wrath - usually from a superior.

Does it means something else where you are? You'd better tell us, or we might use it at the wrong time.

I've noticed, Sue - that calling someone a 'nutter' doesn't seem to offend like call them 'nuts' does. Perhaps we should ask the Brits to clarify that one too?
They both mean the same to us - so please forgive us if we have offended by using the wrong word.

I've never heard roasted used as a slang word, is it?

Told you I've led a sheltered life.

It was never my job to steer or navigate a ship - we did once go aground at the entrance to Honolulu Harbour, nothing to do with us, it was the fault of the American Pilot. It did however result in me having a six week holiday in Sydney while ship was in dry dock for repairs. Stayed with Aussie friends who lived on Parramatta Road. Had a great time - no alcohol lol.

The tooth is being very good Sue ( thank you for asking ) , I wasn't about yesterday as I went to visit a friend and actually had a night away from here .....lol
