Yes, it is sad for her. At least I have other family and friends but her husband and other daughter are the only really close family she has. She has a couple of sisters but they are very busy with their lives and can't be there for her when she needs them

Her daughter was a young mum of 33 when she passed. She had 2 children and their father has subsequently moved to WA where his family is. So it was an increased loss for her. At least now things have settled and she gets to see the children about 3 times a year. Her daughter here has no children and won't have any now.

I have a family that I interview who lost their daughter aged 15, only this year after a 5 year battle with cancer.

So I try to rationalise that with my situation where my son was 52 years old, had a fantastic marriage of 37 years, 2 children (one now a teacher in a Catholic private school and married, the other doing Honors Degree in Medical Research Science and brilliant at it), and go to live his passion for many year which was sailing. He was an ocean racer and a brilliant helmsman. Didn't have to have a boat of his own was always being sought after by others. The last Sydney to Hobart race he did which was 2 Christmases ago, they son their division and the owner of the boat said it was all due to Roger's superb helmsmanship and his brother, Linsay's, ability as a tactician.

So there's lots to be thankful for.

Pam.

Oh what a shame Rach.

Pam - my daughter had a little scare awhile back with a routine test but she's ok. It scared me just thinking what could happen - what a nightmare you and others have lived through.

Pam,

I hope that if your friend comes to stay at this difficult time, you will take comfort in each others company. To lose our parents, or siblings is hard enough, but to lose a child, no matter what age, must be the hardest loss of all to bear.....My heart goes out to you both.

Oh how I'd love to get out in the garden today. It's lovely and sunny outside and the temp in the house at present is 24c. It'd be warmer out there. But the black flies are out at this time of year so the only time I can get out there is at dusk, just before dark. And of course, up here in the tropcis, night literally falls. One minute it's light the next boom, it's black. Unless there's a full moon as there was last night. Sometimes the stars are so brilliant you can see by them too. But then I worry about what sort of crocodiles might be in the grass as I'm pulling it out and I might not see it.

So there's nothing else for it. I just have to wait until it rains. Then I put on the wet weather gear, I'm a golfer so have plenty of that, or even just a raincoat, wellies and a hat, and go out and week to my hearts content. All the wrigglies have gone to ground when it rains. And of course, up here, it's not cold in the rain. In fact, you can get wetter inside the raingear that outside it.

Great place.

Pam :) xx

I'm glad you had a lovely week Rach - 10 years is a time for celebration. I can't believe I've been married 38 years in December. I've been married twice as long as I've been single:-))
