Goodnight Linda,
sleep well - keep warm.

Good Morning Berona, I haven't been talking about you - it was the others.

Good Morning Pam,

You certainly do have fun in the bush - there's me getting uptight because I have a rat in the garden, you must laugh your socks off.

Tec.

We have very nice lizards:-)) I've never had to tackle them of course.

Berona, You wouldn't really want me to come as I am right now - scruffy jeans, a scruffy jumper with paint on the elbow, shirt with a worn collar.
You'd think the rag and bone man had turned up and wouldn't answer the door - red rose or not lol.

Tec.

Berona Report 24 Oct 2010 23:33

Last time my neighbour had his grass cut, my cat brought in a lizard with gold spots on its back. She always has to bring in her trophies to show me - or maybe she just likes to see my reaction!

It ran around the dining room with her after it until it saw the glass sliding door and made for the track, trying to escape. Two of the grandsons were here at the time, and one of them thought he was letting it out by opening the door - but he opened it back onto the lizard. Well, it was quick - and the cat wasn't interested any more once it stopped moving.

Ah Tec - beauty is in the sight of the beholder. I'm sure I would see the real you, no matter what you wore.

Pam - you must know Sydney well for all the places you have lived. When did you do all this?
When did you live in Bexley? I went to Bexley schools until 1946 and lived in Greystanes 1962-2006 - did my shopping in either Parramatta or Blacktown until those shopping complexes got just too big and more complexes went up closer to home.

Berona, that's the only thing I don't like about cats. They play with their prey and often don't even eat it. I don't object to animals killing for food, but not when they just want to play with it because it moves. Subsequently, I don't have a cat - even though I do love them.

Well, it's the start of my work day. Had a couple of calls already and I'm not even dressed yet !! tsk tsk, as Sue would say.

Be back later.

Have a great day/night all.

Pam.

Just got your last post Berona. I lived in Bexley around 1968. Are you still up around the Parra B'town area? I know what you mean about the big shopping complexes. I don't like them much either. But I used to like shopping at the Kings Langley shops because they had everything you needed without the hassle of the bigger places and always plenty of parking. Had more of a 'village' atmosphere.

Pam. Gotta go now, sorry.

Berona

Berona Report 25 Oct 2010 07:33

Yes, all the complexes have everything now. There is no need to go anywhere else if you use one of them. They have popped up in the smaller suburbs and as the suburbs become cities, the shopping complexes seem to double in size.
I was only two blocks west of the southern freeway - and now I'm two blocks east of it! Still have the same phone number and post code and still shop at the same supermarket, although I shop more online now. My dtr shops at Winston Hills or Castle Hill - both of which have massive complexes now - and she buys what I need in those places. Although the councils all have strict rules about the preservation of trees - the trees are all disappearing, leaving a jungle of buildings and traffic.

That's why I would love to live up your way - but the animals on the 'endangered species list' deter me. I wonder why they want to preserve them? Do crocs and rats actually do some good?

How interesting Berona, you and Pam may have walked past each other in the street in 1968 and here you are now talking to each other all those years later

It was frosty here last night, a real keeping your arms under the bed clothes night. There is still white frost on the lawn now

Berona, how can you possibly be wearing a jacket in 30 degrees?

Morning Linda, hi Berona and everyone.

Thanks everyone, for your hugs and all. I'm feeling much better:-))

Ive just finished washing the dinner dishes and picked up daughter from her part time job. We had chicken stir fry, my family's favorite. It takes a little while to prepare, cutting up all the veg etc, but its worth the effort!

The only creepy crawly that worries me here, are the snakes. I have to remember when I'm walking around, to make a lot of noise, so if they hear me coming they will scarper!!! One day I was going out in my car, I got down to the bottom of the driveway to open the gates, and there was a snake!! I froze, waited till the creature took off, then when I was sure it had gone I continued on my way.

It was a lovely sunny day today, the roses are looking beautiful, hopefully we've seen the last of the nasty weather for a little while, at least.

Berona Report 25 Oct 2010 10:23

That's just it, Linda. I don't really think our "30" happened!
I don't think it got any higher than 18 or 19 even though there was no more rain. I removed the jacket before lunch and put it back on when the sun went off my courtyard at around 7pm. So much for our wonderful weather bureau!

I wouldn't have crossed paths with Pam while I was at school, but she mentions shopping at Kings Langley. One of my sons has lived there for about 14 years, so she might have walked past him if she lived there then.
It's a small world. When I was 21, my friends and I worked in the main shopping area and because we had an hour for lunch, we would take a walk down the 'main drag' and of course, we saw the same people doing the same thing - quite often - even though we didn't know them personally. Then on my first trip to England, every time I walked down the Strand/Aldwich area (where Australia House is) I never failed to see one or some of these same people.

Berona Report 25 Oct 2010 10:34

Between Pam with crocs and rats and Carole with snakes - maybe I'll stay where I am.

Carolee

Carolee Report 25 Oct 2010 10:43

Berona, I'd rather have the snakes than crocs and rats, eww:-)
That is, as long as I'm not on my own if I ever get bitten by a poisonous one!!

Persephone

Persephone Report 25 Oct 2010 11:35

We are croc and snake free and very few rats in fact

Ours is a nice house ours is
It has no rats or mouses.

We had beef stir fry last night for tea Carole and I am glad you are feeling better. I have lots of chats to my past, I carry on as though they have never gone at times. I suppose that's what comes of being an only child. When I was little I talked to myself and I used to provide the answers as well - my mother often thought I had other kids playing with me in my room and it was just me.

OH's birthday today - we spent it quietly....

Love to all Persey xx

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Oct 2010 11:40

Hello Perse, lovely to see you, I am not here

I don't like the talk of all those fearsome creatures, we only have rats and mice here, well not me personally but the country in general. plus one venomous snake, but it is timid and you really would have to be stupid or unlucky to annoy it.

Pass on my birthday wishes to your OH. We don't usually bother much with our birthdays either, I think that happens as you get older and the nearby family group shrinks

We are still going to celebrate Berona's in style of course.

OK, off I go, as I said, I am not here

Carolee

Carolee Report 25 Oct 2010 12:19

I didn't see you Linda :-)

Well hello our lovely Persey, how are you, long time no see:-))
Happy birthday to your OH, did you have a birthday cake for him?

Hactually, I think its healthy to talk to one's self, solve lots of problems! I can imagine being an only child, it would be normal to talk to yourself. Myself however, coming from a large family, would long for some peace and quiet, I think that's why I enjoy my solitude, when I can:-)
