Berona, if I want an instant asthma attack, it's to drink any iced drink or milkshake or eat an ice cream on a hot day.

Only takes seconds. I'm definitely one to drink water even at room temperature. Although I usually have some of my iced tea concoction that I make in the fridge but then I usually leave it stand for a bit after pouring before I drink it.

Yes, Amanda. I think they climb in there because they're cold but them warm up too much between two warm bodies so fling arms and legs hither, thither and yon in order to get cooler.

Just had a call from friends I was going to visit today. They've had an order for a bird that the people want for a gift for this weekend so they have to go down to Cairns to send the bird by air to Sydney. We've rescheduled for tomorrow. So it looks like I'll have to get my ironing done today. Speaking of which, I'd better get to it before it warms up too much. It's now 8.37am and 23.9c.

See ya all who are left.

I must go too Pam. I have been "going to" do a top-up trip to the chemist all week - now I don't have much choice because I will be out of a couple of meds by tomorrow..
I forget that you are one hour different from us. It has become so bright outside, don't think I will need the jacket.
Talk to you all later.
Have a good day.

Pam - somewhere I have one of my childhood books and there is a question in there about the Guggenheim Museum. So when I was in New York I visited said museum. The next time I struck that name was in the passenger list of the Titanic - Benjamin Guggenheim - which I now discover was Peggy's father.

I am going to be away for a few days - we will be in Wellington and on Sunday evening (couldn't get in on Saturday) we are all booked to go to the Logan Brown Restaurant - it is "the" restaurant. Al Brown and Steve Logan also did a couple of television series "Hunger for the Wild" where they go hunting/fishing with locals and then cook up a fantastic feed for them.
If you google NZ - and look up their name there is a menu list and I will probably be having the Paua Ravioli with Coriander, Basil & Lime Beurre Blanc for my entrée. My mouth has been watering after OH showed me the menu.

Spell check -

I have a spelling checker
It came with my PC
It plainly marks four my revue
Mistakes I cannot sea
I've run this poem threw it
I'm sure your please too no
It's letter perfect in its weigh
My checker tolled me sew.

Take care all

Love Persey ((xx))

You're right Perse. The Spellchecker only corrects words which don't exist.

The entree sounds interesting. Don't forget to tell us what you thought of it - and whatever else you have. Enjoy!!

That sounds very posh Perse, but naturally that is the standard of this thread lol. I hope that you have a really lovely time

I have been to the Guggenheim in New York as well, the building is impressive but some of the modern art passed me by

Good morning Aussies, good evening Brits. Lovely day again here. Forecast is 19c to 31c with sunshine. Cloud coming back tomorrow. Currently just next to where I'm sitting it's 21.8c at 5.07am our time.

Looks like no one is here yet so I'll go check my emails and come back.

I am here, but I am watching a new Poirot on TV at the same time

Pamela

Pamela Report 27 Oct 2010 20:15

Hello Linda,

Lucky you. to have a new TV programme to watch at this time of year. Ours are all boring, boring, boring.

Catch you back after your show ends.

Good Evening and Good Morning World,

I am also watching Poirot, the only civilised programme on at the moment.

We must not forget that a very special lady in Sydney is celebrating her birthday today, though I doubt that she has stirred just yet.

Persey the Logan Brown Restaurant in Wellington sounds very smart, I hope you have a lovely time while you're away.

Talking of smart places, my daughter has just returned from a few days in London. On Sunday afternoon she and her OH took Grand daughter to the Ritz for Afternoon Tea as a treat. On each table there is a card that you can request a tune for the pianist to play. My daughter requested "Come Fly With Me" a tune she is fond of. The pianist, an elderly gentleman, apparently had been resident pianist at the Savoy prior to coming to the Ritz, but prior to that he had worked with Frank Sinatra for years, so had accompanied Sinatra many times singing the song that daughter had requested.

Pam you are up and about very early today!

Well, I must go practice leaping out of the cake apparently.

Tec.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 27 Oct 2010 21:09

I have the cake ready for later
I shall have to decamp upstairs as soon as Poirot is finished. The kitchen floor was much improved this morning after it's oiling last night, but OH wants to give it another coat tonight. While we are in the mood we decided to do the utility room, the downstairs loo and the rest of the hall,so I have been Mrs Scrubbit again, crawling about on my hands and knees, cleaning them

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 27 Oct 2010 21:25

Hello Linda,

Gosh you'll have house maids knees at that rate, and will have to put the mini-skirt away.

I shall refrain from making jokes about Linda being well oiled again, I wouldn't dare lol.

Tec.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 27 Oct 2010 21:38

Oh dear, I put the miniskirt away an eternity ago.
Poirot is just about to reveal all, well not undress...
The programme is so dark, it has really been annoying me, I keep wishing they would put the lights on

As for well oiled, not a drop of alcohol has passed mt lips today and no I didn't use a straw before you ask

Pamela

Pamela Report 27 Oct 2010 21:39

Hello Tec, yes, good idea to keep 'well oiled' comments at bay, I should think.

Imagine that; the man used to accompany Frank Sinatra. You just never know who you are going to run into, do you?

Yes, I am up early but then I am up early most days. I rarely ever sleep in and 7.30am is a sleep in for me; unless I'm sick. Everyone knows when I'm sick. I just go to bed and tell everyone to leave me alone.

I do have a question that I would enjoy the feedback from here. I've been getting cramps in my leg at night time. Only seems to happen when I'm half awake and stretch which is something I've trained myself to do for years because of my dancer's bad back. It's excruciating, the pain and I have to get up and walk around to straighten it out again.

Someone told me that I'm lacking magnesium so I bought some magnesium tablets plus I've upped my eating of bananas because they're supposed to be a good source of that mineral.

Those have helped a little but not altogether.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or advice? All will be appreciated.

Pam.

Pamela

Pamela Report 27 Oct 2010 21:41

Linda, is your Poirot set in times long ago? Like, original Agatha Christie type times?

In that case, they didn't have electric light then. Maybe that's why it's so dark.

But I agree. Those settings I think are often to create a 'mood' but it's no good for us whose eyesight is straining at the best of times.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 27 Oct 2010 21:43

It is Potassium which you are short of, bananas are a good source of it. My mother used to get night cramps and she was told to drink tonic water, but it has to have quinnine in it

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 27 Oct 2010 21:47

Yes Linda, the darkness is annoying me too, can't see the point, but suppose it's atmospheric.

Pam I also suffer cramps in my legs at night. Apparently some people take quinine tablets, only available from the doctor here, but your local pharmacist may help. It is supposed to cure the problem.
I have also been told that it can be a result of insufficient salt in the diet, and that you need to drink more (water)

Tec.

Pamela

Pamela Report 27 Oct 2010 21:50

Thank you for those tips. I shall look for the tonic water with quinine; I eat very little salt so maybe living up here in the tropics I need to get more. Maybe crisps with sea salt would do the trick because I don't like salt other than on tomatoes or chips. I"ll keep eating bananas, of course, because at this time of year up here they are very cheap. I'm sure I don't drink enough water, so I'll have a go at upping my intake of that as well.

All good sense, to me.

Thank you very much.

Will let you know how it goes after a week or so.

Pam.
