Berona Report 28 Oct 2010 11:18

Goodnight Pam. Driving does make you tired once you start to relax, doesn't it?

Just as I thought we were getting the same weather as everyone else, I find out to-day that Sydney had a hail storm last night. We had a shower where I am - but no hail.

Not that I am envious. Hail can do a lot of damage.
Anyway, it's quite cool again tonight - so jackets on again!

Please forgive me if I have missed anyone on Facebook. I'm still not sure of what I'm doing there, or of who can see what.

Glad you had a nice birthday Berona, and a good weekend to look forward to - hope they take you somewhere good.

I wonder if Linda made it through the night without sneaking down to raid the fridge without leaving tell tale footprints.

Not a very nice day here, very dull and showery with a keen wind. As I had my flu jab yesterday, and feel a bit jaded today, there are no plans for anything too strenuous.

Hi Carole,

28 C sounds good to me - it is 14 here today, which is quite mild really for late October, but lots of rain forecast, and gale force winds, gusts of 60 mph.
The showers you have will make your garden grow in time for summer and long lazy days outside. Halloween this weekend, so we can expect spooky children at the door Trick or Treating - I've got a load of sweets and apples in ready - if the weather's fine the village children will be out in force.
We didn't do Halloween when I was young, I think it's an American tradition that has found it's way here - like a lot of things.
Hope you are well, and feeling better now.

Good morning/evening everyone - hope all is well.

I've just opened the blinds and it looks like another day that won't make up it's mind about what it's going to do. Most days at the moment are warm/sunny/overcast/cool all on the same day often with a few showers thrown in. However no cyclones:-))

Good morning/evening everyone.

We have the same conditions and forecast as you, Sue. Dull but dry, so far. Let's see if they stay the same. One of my sons rang yesterday and was astounded when I told him we'd had no hail. He is only a few miles east of me and could tell me about 'prangs' under bridges where some motorists stopped to avoid the hail - only to have other vehicles slide into the back of them! I think he might live somewhere near Colin. Hope Colin wasn't out in it.

Linda did you survive the hunger pain's last night ?

Good evening/morning to those that have arrived by the time my post come's up on here.

Good evening everyone.
I did manage to make it through the night without starving lol

We have just got back. We went to York about 6pm, we had a meal and then went to see the illuminating York event (google it if you want to see it)
It was a bit like son et Lumière on the front of the minster (cathedral) It was very impressive, but only lasted about ten minutes, it was on a loop and kept repeating. There were other smaller bits in the gardens behind the minster, but I wasn't very impressed by them. I must admit that I thought there would be far more buildings illuminated, given the amount of publicity it has been given

Sorry I've been missing. Went to take my medications and found I had finished my 8-day keeper, so I had to re-stock it. I'm afraid it takes a while and my fingers become tender after opening all those blister packs!

I had some seafood pasta Diane.

those pill boxes are such a good idea Berona. Luckily I hardly ever need tablets, but I can never remember if I have taken them

Hello all, I"m a bit late getting in here today. tsk tsk as Sue would say. I actually slept till 6am, then fed birds and all that stuff. They're getting to rely on me at a certain time of day now. I was really thrilled that 2 of the birds we released came to visit this morning. I know I shouldn't get upset when I don't see them for a few days. But I get worried that a hawk or a snake got them. I think I need to 'toughen up'. lol

Hope you are all well. ----- Our day up here is just brilliant. Currently 23.9c and sunny. Not hot, just nice. Will no doubt get warmer as the day progresses, but that's OK,. I just took my sweater off. It was chilly outdoors when I was feeding the birds.

Sound's nice Linda, did you have a desert.

My daughter came today with 2 of the girl's, the eldest brought her boyfriend with her and we had cornbeef hash with been's and then for after's we had home made apple crumble and single cream, the apples were off my daughter's tree.

Don't feel 'left out' Linda. Your turn will come. I have been on one blood pressure tablet for forty years - same brand, same dosage all that time - but over the years, others have been added and they are supposed to work in with each other.
Nobody has ever told me there is anything wrong with my heart - but I take various tablets so that it will stay that way!!?! It seems that I'm not taking tablets to 'fix' anything - because nothing seems to be wrong. All these tablets they have me on are preventative....in which case - I should live forever!

Pamela Report 28 Oct 2010 23:25

Yum, Diane. I love apple crumble. I've never made it but I love to eat it. I don't think I've even got a recipe for it. Is it hard to make. I know, I know; I can hear you all now saying what a backward person I am. But because I've always had a weight problem I've never gotten in to making cakes, pies, deserts any of that sort of stuff. The only things I used to make were bread and butter pudding, rice pudding and Anzac biscuits for my kids when they were little.

Good morning Pam,
It must be nice to see the released bird's come back and see that they are doing well. What happened to the cyclone you were expecting ?

Ah, I am back, for some reason the site logged me out and it was a hassle getting back in.
No desert Diane, it was a big dish of pasta

Diane

Diane Report 28 Oct 2010 23:34

Pam it is very simple to make hun, my way is = take about 3 bakeing apples, peel and core them and then slice them thinly and stew them in a little water and sugar till they are cooked ( about 10mins ) then put the apple in a pyrex dish and put either home made crumble or packet of ready made crumble over the top of the apples and bake in the oven for about 25mins or until the top of the crumble is golden brown.
