Berona Report 28 Oct 2010 23:38

We used to have an aviary with parrots in it, but we never liked seeing them caged that way even though we were assured that they had been born in captivity. We went to one 'breeder' and walked around the outside of their property and found upturned boxes with seed under them and a stick - ready to trap free birds. That made us allow the ones we felt might have been wild, escape - and as the others died off, we didn't replace them.

We had two cats at the time and our neighbour had three cats - and they all lived in harmony. None of the cats ever tried to worry the birds - in fact, part of their roof was wire and had a big dip in it where all five cats slept during the day and the birds took no notice of them.

Good night Linda. Sleep well. Talk to you again later.
The sun has been out and has gone behind a cloud just now. It's very bright but still plenty of cloud.

Thank you Diane, I didn't know you could buy crumble topping. I'll look next time in the supermarket. I love apple crumble and I think these days if I only make small one I'll be able to control my gluttony. haha. I'm told all the time by just about everyone that I don't eat enough. But at least my weight is stable.

Berona, we know that the birds we have were bred in captivity because we bred them. P.

I doubt that anyone is around at the moment as it's 6.15 pm here, 3.15 in Perth WA - where is Alan by the way? It is also the middle of the night in the UK. OK, it's 7.16 I think.
catching up on a couple of points.I think the spell checker comes with the browser. Internet Explorer doesn't have one, Google chrome and Firefox do, which is why I use them. My usual errors are typos. Such as teh cat sat on teh mat.
No, I didn't see hail yesterday but I was well east of where I live. The word came through that the hail warning had been cancelled as I was in the harbour tunnel. A good place to be of course, but you are not allowed to stop in there.
Pam, I sometimes joke about Qld weather. Beautiful one day, perfect the next but hot, humid with scattered cyclones. Actually I am not including your part of the world; more Brissie and the Sunshine coast.
Not really being in an area prone to severe flooding nor bushfires, I agree that I would prefer the former. Of course whenever it rains Lake 90 forms in the back yard of No. 90 with run off from all the other unit blocks up the hill. Eventually it runs off downhill or into our not very effective storm water drain.
Will check in to see whether anyone is about after dinner.

Hi Colin (if you come back). Have you tried using Facebook yet? I still feel that my 'friends' can see everything that is on my 'wall' because their comments are mixed up with each other, but apparently, they can only see those made by my 'friends' who are also 'friends' with each other. To-day was my first try at 'chatting'. Carole (Carolee) popped up and said hello, and we had a good chat.
I'm not in an area prone to bushfires or floods either, it can get humid at times but what I notice most is the "busy" people - no time to be friendly - very arrogant. Country folk are not usually like that. And, of course, the TRAFFIC!!

Hello Berona, I came back late because computer malfunction. It goes into a bluescreen failure unexpectedly and shuts down, I think it is an overheating problem as it only happens when the power is plugged in. Very annoying.
One suggested solution that Windows found was to update the screen driver software, but I am reluctant to do this as I don't want to install the wrong one and if something goes wrong I am left with no computer at all.
I have been on Facebook a few times. I have three friends: my sister, a cousin who lives in Europe and a GR friend from another board. I think we are all learning, but I have managed to put up half a dozen photos including one of me with Ms Denise. It is a horrible photo. I don't like to be reminded of how big I am.

PS I am working tomorrow so no GR or FB for me.

Hi Colin
I know you wont see this for a while with you working, but know you will read it when you can.
I would love to see that photo of you and Ms Denise so if you would like to add me on FB, pm me with your FB name.

just saying hello from Wellington on one of my daughter's laptops. I hate not using a mouse - she did have one but I think the cat must've eaten it when they moved house.
This is the first time we have been to this house it is quite cute but has no off street parking though they are quite used to that, me I like to have a garage and a driveway.
We had a lovely drive down and stopped a night at Taihape, was sunny as until we came over the Rimutukas - (my dad's brother worked on the construction of the Rimutuka Tunnel.
I won't read the thread until I get back, but stay happy everyone hope all is well with you all and as my other SIL says (all the time) catch you later.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 29 Oct 2010 21:38

I have been busy, well this morning.
I went and had my hair cut, then went to the retail park to buy a present for a new baby who was born early this morning.
i went to the cemetery and had a nice conversation with my parents. I had to cut it short because someone else turned up and I feel stupid talking out loud to a gravestone.

I went to the supermarket on the way back and they were selling off raw beetroot, so I bought lots of that and pickled it when I came back. Then I cooked dinner and now I am having a rest lol
