Amanda - this little girl is gorgeous and very precious. Unfortunately she has had too many losses in her short life. We will make sure she has a great Christmas. |

We have some country towns like the one you talk about. The 'hippies' caused a lot of concern when they first moved into these very conservative areas but over the years they have learned to live side by side. They live outside the towns in tents and caravans earning their money by selling candles and crafts at the local markets. Some of their artwork is sought after. People still call them layabouts but it's just an alternative lifestyle. I guess people are always suspicious of people who don't follow the traditional way of life. |

I have one doll given to me in about 1936. It's made of German Composition (whatever that is). My mother was excellent at needlework and made all the clothes and every item has needlework and crochet on it. She entered it in every doll show (in my name) and it never failed to win. I was never interested in showing it, and it was too delicate to play with. My daughter wasn't interested, she liked Baby Alive - and her daughter has shown very little interest in any dolls. It is wrapped up in bubblewrap in my wardrobe, to be passed on to my granddaughter and it will possibly have a vintage value by then. Whether she keeps it or sells it will be up to her. She may have a daughter of her own by then! |

Sue I'm sure you will make this Christmas a wonderful time for your special guest, sounds like the little mite deserves some happiness, and I'm sure she won't want for that in your house. |

When I first went to sea I bought both my sisters a large doll in Naples, Italy. Articulated limbs, eyes that shut, and beautifully dressed. My sisters were 8 and 11 years old then. Now they are 60 and 63, but still have their dolls as decoration in their bedrooms - even the dolls are pensioners now lol. |

Amanda I hope normal service is soon restored in your house - personally I would happily do without a television. I only watch the news and some documentaries. |

Tec .... I don't really bother with the TV ( he always has the remote control and I'm on here anyway ) , he looks awfully fed up now , poor man . The screen was looking like it was on some sort of psychedelic trip from the 60s ....lol ....flashing all sorts of bright colours . |

Oh dear Amanda - it would be a major catastrophe if our telly died. We don't watch it through the day but there are some good shows on in the evening - sometimes. |

I really sorry about your cousin Linda - and of course the poor little baby. Yes - smoking is a major risk for SIDS and of course heart disease and cancer. With all the knowledge we are given these days people can make informed choices - unfortunately children can't. I see the consequences in the hospital and it isn't nice. |
