Hi Tec - I have been out and about in the car on Mon and Tue, so I might have a day of rest to-day - but I am thinking of checking all my plant pots in the courtyard, so I might spend some time out there - even take a book. There is no wind, so it looks very inviting.

Hello Tec, Oh how I wish I could have a cage that was 'big snake proof' but the cost is prohibitive.
I do have what was a chicken coop at the side of the house which is quite large but I'm told that I'd need to put all snake proof (1/4 x 1/4 inch mesh) around that and that would cost hundreds of dollars which, unfortunately, I don't have. But I'm working on some ideas. I have a fair amount of shade cloth that I could maybe clip to the existing wire on the chicken coop which would keep the snakes out. Then, my only problem would be that the door of the thing is too narrow to get the cages in there.
Lots of food for thought to try to resolve the issue.'
Pam.

Hello Berona,
I know what you mean about the difference on how our men look at their women to how these other ones do. But they aren't worried about losing their women.
I find it very disquieting that the reason for this is that women having their limbs, faces etc. uncovered is blamed for men's feelings of 'lust', that the word they use. So it's not up to the men to control themselves. It's because they don't they blame the women for it. Can't possibly be any fault of theirs, now, can it?
Pam.

At the risk of being controversial: One of journalist and writer Geraldine Brooks' early books was "Nine Parts of Desire" . She explained it thus, based on many interviews with Moslem men and women. When God (Allah) created mankind he gave men only one part of s*x**l desire and women nine parts. So women have to b modest to avoid stirring men up. As you say however, it is cultural. What really gets up my nose is men dressed in western clothes including those silly long shorts , tee shirts and with designer sunglasses while the Mrs trails behind. I have now seen twice, in two different shopping centres, a man dressed like this and the woman clothed head to toe, not quite in a burqa, but with the lower part of their face covered with a handkerchief like object. This offends me. Respecting religious and cultural traditions is one thing, but I do think this goes too far. I don't think we should ban the burqa though. It will imprison the women further.
And, yes, some fundamentalist Christian cults can be just as perverted.

Hi to anyone around~~~
Haven't been on for a while, fit of the blues! No sympathies required ..thanks, just have to work it out. I reckon it has a lot to do with SAD syndrome and the lack of sunlight:).
Hi Colin , if your'e still around, haven't seen you posting for a while, I do look in everyday:) but haven't read tonights postings except for yours:) Hope your'e well:) as to anyone else still on board. When i think of how short I wore my skirts in my teens !!!!! Dad never objected..no he wasn't a perv, said if she has good legs why not show them ( as long as my underwear wasn't showing .lol ) Yes I think it is sad how some cultures have this thing about women needed to be covered up, but I also think that it is crude that some women go around almost half naked ! Rant over.lol

Hello Pam, Colin and Sandie. I just came back and saw your posts on this page.
Yes, I think my problem is that the men make the rules and the women are subservient to them. The men don't seem to think that they should control themselves and give respect where it is due. They won't change the rules, either, because they are spoiled by them. Whey should they change them?
Colin - I was looking for you on yesterday's posts. Wondered if you knew what kind of birds make the bush sounds in Home & Away. They sound like the same birds I hear whenever I go near any bush, but the show is filmed in Palm Beach and I thought you might know more about that area than I do. The Brits on the H&A thread have been asking about the sounds.

Good morning, although I don't think any one else seems to be around.
Yesterday I was engrossed in my tree. I have a full subscription to Ancestry and when I first joined I joined the Ancestry.com site which is based in America. I did that because I paid in dollars, the exchange rate was good and it was cheaper than joining the English site and paying in pounds. At the end of the second year, they redirected me to the English .co.uk version and I now pay in sterling. It doesn't make any difference to the records though, I have a full worldwide subscription (now called something else) and have access to any records from any country.
I assumed that Find my Past was the same,I have a full subscription to all of their records as well. I was surprised, however when I was reading the Lost Cousins newsletter and it mentioned that FMP have the New Zealand censuses, I couldn't find them on the FMP data base, so I followed the link from the newsletter and was surprised to see that it took me to the FMP,au site. I registered for the free 24 hour trial and found some very useful information. It seems daft though, that if I want to continue to look at the Australian and New Zealand records, that I would have to take out a whole second subscription. Why can't they have a set up like Ancestry where there is a top level subscription which gives access to all records on all their sites, crackers I call it.
Anyway I made the most of the time I had, although I would have liked longer. I now have more lines to pursue and luckily they are all in Victoria and I have the full discs for that. I think I have mentioned before that I have the bmd's from 1836-1920,plus marriages from 1921-1945 and deaths from 1921-1984. They give more info than the English versions, so if anyone needs any look ups, just ask.
It is a lovely day here, windy but bright and more to the point, not raining. I can't believe that it is only 10.45 and I have got so much done already this morning, with the clocks going back, I am getting up earlier, though that will change as my body adjusts
Berona, there will be more pictures of Eve in a couple of weeks when she has her naming ceremony, It seems to be blossoming into a large affair,so I feel a new dress coming on..

Hi Linda and everyone:-)
That's crazy, Linda, in regards to FMP. I suppose that's how they make their money? If you need any help with anything here, if I can I will, just shout:-) Geelong is not that far from me:-)
You'll be needing new shoes and bag, to go with the new dress:-)
Our weather down here is still cold and wet, I can't believe the amount of rain we are having! Our drive yesterday was lovely, except for a silly person pulling out on to the road in front of my learner driver daughter, who I think forgets she has a brake pedal. I think my foot nearly went through the floor board, I'll just say, it was too close for comfort!!! We did enjoy a nice walk around the town, with a lovely lunch in one of the many pubs.

Hello all,
Linda; why not go all out and get new shoes, too? Who knows when the next occasion may arise for you to go the whole hog.
We have rain here today, although it is now night time, 9.35pm; but it's drizzling outside and the frogs are having a merry time.
Berona, I sorry I can't help you with those birds. I don't watch Home and Away. Maybe, if I can next week, I'll have a little listen for you if no success via another avenue. I'm working all this week and weekend too. Although I don't think it's on during the weekend, is it?
I'm more a Packed to the Rafters girl, myself.
Pam.
