Berona, I've also seen that happen, it seems the Brits assume that all foriegners are deaf if they don't understand English.
Tec.

And then there are people that shout at people in wheelchairs Tec.

I am Welsh by birth and my BM was Welsh but my dad who was born in Liverpool was Jewish via his mother but his father was English.

Linda I hope you enjoy the meet tomorrow, I went to one in Liverpool but by the time I got there most of the people had left but I did enjoy putting a few faces to names.

Hello Persey - I've missed you, lady:-))

Berona - my mother talks slowly and loudly to my sister-in-law's parents who hail from Malta and have been here for 50 years. They speak perfect English:-))

Tec - my father was more liberal but my mother is very rascist and gets worse as she gets older. She also makes loud comments about ladies' weight and clothing and does not like young people very much:-))

Good Midday here to you all.

Sue and Amanda

Rugby players legs - I have always found that the bit seen between the shorts and the long socks is rather smooth and not hairy at all.
I was always amazed at our All Black of years ago - Bryan Williams who was out on the wing could run so fast with such massive thighs.

Still on the subject of travelling people - I have another story for you.

On my first visit to the Louvre, the Mona Lisa was hung on the wall amongst other paintings. It did have a rope and poles to keep people back from it. However, when I went again, 38 years later, it was encased in glass or perspex, so apparently the rope had little effect.

My second visit was with a group of Australians, amongst them a lovely lady who had Asian features but spoke with a natural Australian accent like the rest of us. She was a businesswoman and seemed very intelligent.

We walked into the area where Mona Lisa was and she remarked (quite loudly) "Oh! it's so much smaller this time!".

I found myself moving away from her in the hope that people wouldn't know she was Australian!

Incidentally - the statue of Venus de Milo was white when I was there in 1954 - and by 1989, it had yellowed very noticeably.

You've obviously made a point of noticing smooth rugby legs, Persey lol. I'm also amazed at how fast rugby players are when they are so large. I can never understand how a person with a ball tucked under their arm would run straight towards a group of very big men only to be tackled and knocked to the ground.

Good morning Perse how are you today hun,
it's when they totally ignore the person in the wheelchair and ask the person pushing it how the person in the chair is that annoy's me. They seem to assume that they can't answer for themselves.

That too Diane,

There was this wheelchair patient at our hospital who had had trouble with other people stealing from him, and he came into the Post Office with his bank book tucked underneath him. He also had his arms in slings he had been beaten up badly. I wheeled him into the little room we had for sorting the mail and had to get the bank book out from underneath him. The Postmaster came in and made a hasty exit - he was not quite sure what I was up to.

Sue - Jonah Lomu has been known to run over the top of the Brits when they have tried to tackle him.

Hi to all I haven't addressed personally~~~~

Love the talk about outspoken parents:))

Mum was very quite, but got going when she went to Sousse on hols and had to barter with the natives,
Dad was a different kettle of fish ,as they say, polite but very outspoken and never suffered fools gladly.
Think that's where my red mist comes from .lol

Berona, I must say that I was surprised by just how small the Mona Lisa is, I suppose seeing it so often on TV,you just assume the real thing will be large

Amanda wherever you are - I don't think your dentist should just say let it be, it will only flare up again, better to get it sorted before worse things can happen.

Diane - If I ever become wheel-chair bound, I can assure you that will not happen to be more than once!
Whoever ignores me will make sure they never do that again, once I am finished with them!

Sue - I can understand your Mum. We do tend to become more outspoken as we get older. I think we like to make sure they do get the message.

Most of our lives are spent being considerate of feelings when we say something, but it only takes a few instances over the years where our consideration was not appreciated, for us to say - damn it, I'll say what I mean!

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 5 Nov 2010 23:18

Perse - Mr Lomu scares me just looking at him. I'm d**n sure I wouldn't be playing rugby against him. Not that I'm likely to:-)

I must be off as I'm getting the *look* from my dear OH who wants to go to the hardware warehouse - as they have a garden section I can cope with that:-))

Bye to you all, my friends. Take care:-))

~~~~~~~~~to all looking in.
