I will say that Agapanthus is easy to grow, but I have only seen it in confined areas as with the road islands - it can't go anywhere, but I know of it only multiplying by one plant on each plant each year. (if that makes sense). My dtr has a garden of it next to the pathway at the base of her front steps and they just break each plant up approx. each three years, same as for Strelitzia (Bird's tongue) which will invade brickwork if not separated every few years.

Our Bougainvillae can grow rampant, but is not banned, to my knowledge. I have also seen Crepe Myrtle in main road islands. Don't know if they are a smaller variety, or if the contract gardeners keep them short, but they do make a nice show - again, around Christmas time.

Goodnight Sandie and everyone else. Just had an email to say family coming over for a while, so must go. I want to call into Facebook and have a look at Amanda's photos.
Talk later - have a good day/night wherever you are.

Nos da Sandie,
sleep well - keep warm.

Berona, I've just brought my bougainvillae in for the winter, I have it in a large pot. Didn't do very well flowering this year, but made a lot of growth.
Everything here seems very confused with the seasons.

Good night Sandie and have a good day Berona : ))

I don't keep many plants that need " fuss " as in protection from the winter weather . The only ones I do make the effort with are my Fancy Auriculas , I need to give them a spray of something as they are a bit pestered with white fly at the moment : (

Good morning/evening all:-)

Hope everyone is well....

Our garden is pretty at the moment, our roses are looking and smelling lovely. There are masses of flowers, the mauve ground cover I have on FB are just amazing, its the best its flowered in the many years we've lived here. I can only put this down to all the rain we've had recently:-))

I took daughter for her weekly driving lesson this afternoon, she did very well. I only had to use my non existent brake three times, so not too bad lol!!
We had lunch and some retail therapy in between, mainly to give my brake foot a rest:-)) She bought a lovely dress, I bought my youngest son some aftershave cologne, as he keeps using OH's expensive one, so I thought I'd best get him some of his own:-)) He's growing up way too fast!!

I hope everyone has a lovely day/evening:-)

Where is everyone? Am I first? or will I find half a dozen of you have posted while I've been typing?

Sun and blue sky here to-day. Hopefully, the rain may have left us for a while, but I'd better not speak too soon.

Poor thread wallowing on page three.

Hello Carole,
Your garden sounds lovely, and obviously give you a lot of pleasure. My garden is looking very forlorn now as we go into winter. Tonight we are awaiting the arrival of an Atlantic storm and have a severe weather warning, so it's batten down the hatches.

Good luck to your daughter with her driving. That was a nasty experience the other day when some idiot pulled out in front of her, but although frightening to a learner driver it is all experience, and teaches her that these things can and do happen. I've always driven with the assumption that everyone elso on the road is raving mad and unpredictable.
Hope you are all well - take care.

Tec, I am disgusted with you, I am only away for one day and I come back to find you cavorting with strange women. Does any one know who this Joy is?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 7 Nov 2010 21:11

Linda - I am not cavorting with any women, strange or otherwise. A chance would be a fine thing. It's all a malicious rumour instigated by Persey who misunderstood something I said.
If I were cavorting I certainly wouldn't let on to the Sisterhood :))

I hope you had a nice time at the meet in Newcastle.

Berona Report 7 Nov 2010 21:12

Good morning Linda and Tec. Hope you and your OH's are all well - and warm.

I'm like you, Tec. I don't trust anyone else on the road - how do we know if they are capable of driving or not? They may have been capable on the day they received their license, but people change - especially when they have alcohol or drugs in them. I never try to teach them a lesson - I just give them the road and let them go, and leave me with the more careful drivers.

I agree with you that the occasional 'tight situation' which calls for a quick response, is a good test of the driver's ability - but I hope that in the case of Carole's daughter, it only happens if she is in a car which has dual controls!

I did have a nice time Tec. I drove to near Newcastle and parked in a metro long stay car park, then took the metro into the town centre. I arrived early so had time to do a spot of clothes shopping before I went to the pub. It was very nice to meet everyone. I had met two of them before. we all have a good natter and the time passed very quickly.
The hardest part of getting home was finding my way to the long stay car park once I had got off the metro.

When I only had time to do a quick change before we went out to the bonfire party. It was too late to come on here when we got home, I was tired in any case, so just went to bed.

Berona, I remember taking both my children out to practice driving in between their weekly driving lessons. It was a very scary experience given that the driving instructors had dual control in their cars, but I didn't
